Islam is Beautiful
chapter five: the prophet adam

The first story of Adam that needs to be listened to is the process of creating Adam as the first man. In QS Al Baqarah verse 30, God told the angel before that He would create a caliph on earth. Here comes the conversation between the angel and God.

"Remember when your Lord said to the angels, "I will make a caliph on earth."They said, "Why do you want to make (caliph) on earth a person who will do harm to him and shed blood? and yet we are ever glorified by praising You and sanctifying You!" The Lord said, Verily I know what you do not know" (QS Al Baqarah: 30)

From the verse it can be understood that the Angels had questioned why God wanted to create a caliph on earth, which they would later do damage and bring down each other. But Allah is more aware of all things than angels, for Allah is the All-Knowing.

Then it is said that God created man from the essence of the land. This is as stated in QS Al Sajadah verses 6 - 9, which are as follows: "So it is God Who knows the unseen and the real, the real, The Almighty, the Most Merciful. Who made everything He created best and who began the creation of man from the land. Then He made his offspring from the abject essence of water. Then He perfected and blew into His (creation) spirit and He made for you hearing, sight and heart, but you are a little grateful."

The creation of the Prophet Adam as the first man by God is also described in QS Al Hijr verse 26, as follows :

"We have created man (Adam) out of dry clay (which is) out of the form of black mud."

Although it has been described in several verses in the Qur'an, the process of creation of the Prophet Adam as a human cannot be understood just like that. Rather, it is necessary to interpret using other verses and hadith. Because that has been mentioned above is included in the category Mustasyabihat, the opponent of Muhkam (obviously).

After creating the Prophet Adam, Allah then ordered the angels and demons to bow down to the Prophet Adam. All angels can obey what God has commanded. The demons refused this order. They consider their status to be more noble than humans. For the reason that they are created from fire, while humans are only from the ground.

God is angry with the attitude of the devil. The devil was expelled from God's heaven. From this, then the devil swore to tempt people to do evil.

Another thing from the story of Prophet Adam that is interesting to know is how the form of a first caliph created by God. It is said that Adam was created with a complete body. The height of the body of Prophet Adam is said to reach 60 cubits or about 18 meters.

This is very different from the condition of the human body today which is only under 2 meters. It turns out that this change has been described in the Bukhari History Hadith, as follows :

From Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu'anhu, from the Prophet SAW said, "God created Adam AS sixty cubits high, then He said: Go and greet the angels, then listen to how they answer the salute of respect for your offspring. So Adam said his greeting: Assalaamu

alaikum(happy well for you). They replied: Assalaamu alaika wa rahmatullah (peace be upon you and mercy be upon you) They added the word wa merahullah. Everyone who will go to heaven is like Adam AS, and humans continue to decrease (up) until now." (Silver Bukhari)

In addition to having a tall body, it turns out that Adam also had a long life. It is said that Adam lived to be 1000 years old. Even in one of the hadith narrations it is said that the Prophet Adam gave 40 years of age to the Prophet Dawud.

Once created, Adam lived a life in heaven. But it is told that

Adam began to feel lonely. Then, it was for this reason that God created a mate for Adam, Eve.

Adam and his beloved Eve lived together in heaven. Allah allowed Adam and Eve to enjoy whatever was in Heaven. But there is one prohibition that they should not do, namely eating khuldi fruit. In this regard, God says :

"O Adam! You and your wife are in heaven. And eat many good foods wherever you like, and do not approach this tree, which causes you to be among the unjust."

This opportunity is what the devil uses to disturb humans, namely Adam and

Eve. It is said that at one time the devil incited Adam and Eve to try the fruit of the khuldi.

According to Ibn Al-Katsr, Adam had refused to persuade the devil. But because Eve was so curious and wanted to try the khuldi fruit, then Adam

let it go and eat it too. After committing a mistake, Adam and Eve immediately repented and asked God for forgiveness. This is as stated in QS Al A'raf verses 22-23 :

"God said, "Didn't I forbid you both from the tree and I

tell you; is the devil a real enemy to you both?" "O Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if you do not

forgive us and give us mercy, we shall be among the losers."

In the end, Allah, the Most Forgiving, accepted the apologies and repentance of the Prophet Adam and Eve. Nevertheless, God still gave the punishment for these lovers to come down to earth. God sent down Adam and Eve in different places. Adam was dropped off at the top of Sri Pada Hill, Sri Lanka. Eve was in the Arab region.

Adam and his beloved Eve were separated and lived each other for 40 years. But finally Allah reunited them in Jabal Rahmah. Adam and Eve lived together on earth. Adam began to learn to grow crops to survive on earth. Until finally they were awarded twins in pairs. This story is one of the famous and still interesting pieces of the story of Prophet Adam listened to today.
