chapter six: prophet job

The prophet Ayyub was a prophet who had a lot of wealth and vast land. He lived in a part of the earth called Tsaniyah, in Huran, in the land of Sham.

Ibn Asakir, one of the leading scholars of the Shafi school’i, said, “ All the vast land is his. Then Allah SWT tested himself by losing all these treasures. He was tested with various tests that hit his body. So that no part of his body is afflicted with disease except the liver and its oral.”

Even though only his heart and mouth can still be used, the Prophet Ayyub still recited to Allah SWT.

The disease also made his friends and relatives feel disgusted. And exiled the Prophet Ayyub to a garbage dump outside his dwelling place.

The only one who accompanied the Prophet Ayyub was his wife named Siti Rahmah. His wife patiently always faithfully accompanied and took care of the Prophet Ayyub.

Siti Rahmah always tried to get a job in order to feed the Prophet Ayyub. But the people around him who knew that he was the wife of the Prophet Ayyub, no one wanted to give him a job. For fear of contracting this disease.

But Siti Rahmah did not give up. He also came to the rich. He mortgaged his long hair. And exchanged for food. He immediately brought it to the prophet Ayyub.

Arriving there, the Prophet Ayyub asked, “ Where did you get this food?”

The next day, the wife sold her hair back. He returned to get food instead. Then immediately brought the food to the Prophet Ayyub.

The prophet Ayyub was suspicious and asked again about the food. He would not eat the food until his wife told him the truth.

Finally, the wife opened her hair. And the prophet Ayyub found that the wife's hair was no more.

Seeing this, the Prophet Ayyub immediately prayed, “ O my Lord), verily I have been afflicted with disease and You are the Most Merciful God among all merciful." (QS. AlAnbiya’: 82).

Then God brought His help. (God says): "Bring your feet; this is cold water for bathing and for drinking. (QS. Shades: 42)

Allah SWT ordered the Prophet Ayyub to strike the earth with his feet. Ayyub followed the command of Allah. And then from the impact of his feet came a cold spring.

Then God commanded us to take a bath and drink from the water. The prophet Ayyub followed him. And by the permission of Allah, all the diseases in the body of the prophet Ayyub were lifted up. And Allah replaced what was lost from the prophet Ayyub with a better one.
