capter nineteen: the prophet isaac

The story of the Prophet Ishaq originally began after Allah SWT gave Ishmael to Prophet Ibrahim A.S. Then, the Prophet Abraham always prayed to Allah SWT to be given the child of his wife named Sarah, who was always loyal to him in upholding the word of Allah.

Therefore, God granted his prayer and sent several angels in human form to convey the glad tidings to him that a child would be born from his wife named Sarah. However, they also told them of their other purpose, which was to go to the Luthites to inflict punishment on them.

when the angels came to Abraham, he welcomed them and invited them to sit in the living room and he prepared a banquet for them.

Prophet Ibrahim A.S is someone who always glorifies guests and also generous people. Then, not long after, Abraham came to bring the fat calf that had been roasted and served it to them, but they did not eat nor did they drink the banquet that he had served.

Under such conditions, Abraham feared them. Then, the angels calmed him down and immediately they told Abraham about themselves and told him their purpose and purpose to convey the glad tidings to him with the birth of a pious (scientific) child.

Then, when the matter was delivered, Sarah heard their conversation. Then he came and approached in astonishment at the glad tidings they had given. She thought how she could give birth while she was an old and barren woman (when she was 90 years old), while her husband was also elderly.

Then, hearing the talk, the angels said “This is how your Lord said. Verily He is the All-Wise, the All-Knowing.” (QS. Adz Dzaariyat: 30). Hearing the news, Prophet Ibrahim became calm and happy because what he was waiting for was coming soon.

After some time, the news delivered by the angels became a reality for Prophet Ibrahim. His wife Sarah gave birth to a son who was later named Ishaq by Prophet Abraham. At that time, Abraham was 100 years old, and Ishaq was born 14 years after the birth of Ishmael.

The Qur'an Karim does not mention at length the story of the Prophet Ishaq and so does the people to whom the Prophet Ishaq sent. However, Allah praises the Prophet Ishaq in several places in the Quran:

“And remember Our servants: Abraham, Ishaq and Ya’qub who have great deeds and high sciences. Verily, We have sanctified them with (given them) a high morality that is always reminding (man) of the Hereafter. And verily they are on Our side truly among the best choice.” (QS. Shaft: 45-47).

In addition, Prophet Muhammad SAW also praised Prophet Ishaq in his words:

“Your noble son, noble son and noble son is Joseph son of Ya’qub, son of Ishaq, son of Ibrahim.” (CHR. Al Bukhari and Muslim).

At the age of 40, Ishaq decided to marry and build his own family. Reporting from Muslimdaily.com, it is told that Nabi Ishaq married a woman named Rafqah bint Batuil. However, it turns out that the test that once befell his father and mother. It was also reported by the Prophet Ishaq. His wife, Rafqah, was also a barren woman.

The Prophet Ishaq continued to pray to Allah. He was born by His miracle. It is not impossible for God to give back this miracle. The Prophet Ishaq and his wife continued to pray with strong hope and trust.

After some long wait, the death came, Rafqah became pregnant and it turned out that Allah gave twins. The children were named Iish or Esau and Yaqub. How happy the Prophet Ishaq at an old age he got the gift of twin sons by Allah SWT.

Then one of his sons will become an apostle. He was the Prophet of Jacob and later became the father of Joseph, Bunyamin, and his brothers. From these sons of Jacob the son of Ishaq, the forerunner of the formation of the Children of Israel or the family of Israel.

It is called Israll because the Prophet Jacob often traveled at night. Then, his twin brother Iish called the Arabs with the term Iish or Iishuu who is the ancestor of the Romans.

the birth of a baby is like the light of a candle that illuminates the dark of the night. Prophet Isaac AS was born after a long wait for Siti Sarah with her husband, Prophet Ibrahim AS. The story of the birth of the Prophet Isaac is proof that Allah SWT will always grant the request of those who never despair to ask Him for prayer.

Efforts and prayers are unceasingly offered to Allah SWT to be blessed with a baby. Sarah continued to pray patiently.

One day, two unknown guests came and searched for Abraham. Ibrahim and Siti Sarah served beef dishes to welcome the guest. However, when the meal was served, the two guests refused and confessed that they did not eat and drink.

The two guests then relayed their intentions. They claimed to be angels sent by God to give Abraham the good news.

Not surprisingly, the good news is the pregnancy of Siti Sarah and the birth of a baby that has been waiting for a long time.

"And his wife stood up and she smiled. So We told him the glad tidings of [the birth of] Isaac and after Isaac [will be born] Jacob" the translation of Hud verse 71 reads.

At first, Siti Sarah and Prophet Ibrahim seemed to not believe in the good news. How not, both have reached the age of 90 years, the age at which the birth of a baby is an abstruse thing for a woman.

"What a miracle is it that I will give birth to a child when I am old, and my husband is very old? This is really something magical," Siti Sarah said according to Hud letter verse 72.

Siti Sarah and Prophet Ibrahim then gave thanks for the power of Allah SWT. When the boy was born, Abraham named him Isaac.

Isaac grew up as a handsome, intelligent, godly, and well-behaved child. Abraham taught Isaac the religion of God and how to worship Him.

Before Abraham died, he betrothed Isaac to Rafiqah, the son of Abraham's brother Nahur.

After marriage, Isaac and Rafiqah both preached in the way of Allah. The prophet Isaac also faced many challenges during the broadcast of the religion of God.

Isaac and Rafiqah have only been given children since they were married for more than 20 years. At that time, Rafiqah gave birth to twins. The first born child was named Ishu and the second was named Ya'qub.

Ishu grew up to become a determined hunter, while Ya'qub was happy to follow his father's preach. Until one day a misunderstanding emerged that made Ishu angry at Ya'qub.

Isaac ordered Ya'qub to go to study in Iraq to see his uncle Laban. Isaac then died at the age of 180 after doing well and making Ya'qub and Ishu regroup.

"And remember Our servants: Abraham, Isaac, and Ya'qub, who have great powers and [high] knowledge. Truly, We have sanctified them by [granting] his high morals, always reminding [men] of the Hereafter" read the translation of Sad's letter verses 45-46.

From here, there are lessons and lessons to be learned. The story of the birth of the Prophet Isaac gives the message that a human being should not despair in praying to Allah SWT.

Allah SWT will also grant one's prayers at the right time. After all, there is nothing difficult for Allah SWT, including the birth of a baby at the age of twilight like Siti Sarah.
