Islam is Beautiful
sixteen capter: godly prophet

Allah SWT sent the Prophet Saleh to convey the teachings to the Thamud who were in Al Hijr. The Thamud are a people whose majority of citizens have many skills such as farming, farming and architecture. However, it was his skill that made the Thamud arrogant and always demeaned the others.

The lifestyle of the Thamud is always decorated with filthiness, which is fun, drunkenness, adultery and committing crimes. For the Thamudite lifestyle has deviated from the teaching of God. So Allah sent the Prophet Pious US to bring back the Thamud to the right path.

The prophet Saleh asked them to fear Him: O my people, worship Allah, there is no god but Him. He has created you from the earth (land) and made you his psalmist. Therefore, ask for His forgiveness, then repent to Him, Verily, my Lord is very near His mercy again allowing the prayer of His servant, (QS Hud verse 61).

Hearing the appeal issued by the Prophet Saleh A. S., the Thamudites were angry and replied, "Hi Saleh, you were one of us before, whom we had hoped. Do you forbid us to worship what our fathers worship? Indeed, we doubt and worry about the religion which you call upon us,." (QS Hud verse 62).

With this response, a small group of Thamud had indeed accepted the teachings of the Prophet Saleh, but most of the rich and high-ranking people still insisted on refusing. They consider the words of the Prophet Saleh to be empty.

With the rejection of the Thamud itself, Nabi Saleh did not immediately give up the situation. Then the prophet Saleh asked God to give him a miracle so that the people of Thamud would believe him.

Allah commanded the Prophet Saleh to smite his hand on the surface of the stone in front of him. Then came a very large and fat female camel from Allah.

After the revelation of the miracle, the prophet Saleh said: "O my people, this is the camel of Allah as a miracle (which shows) the truth for you, so let him eat in the earth of Allah, and do not bother him with any disturbance that will cause you to be afflicted by a near doom." (QS Hud verse 64).

The people of Thamud saw the event immediately aghast. Some people admit their prophethood. However, most of them still think that what Nabi Saleh did was a magic game to trick them.

Nabi Saleh advised his people not to disturb the female camel. He allowed his people to take turns flushing and drinking the milk of the magic camel.

However, the existence of the magical camel alarmed some Thamud people who opposed the teachings of the Prophet Saleh. Because the female camel drank a lot of water in the water source of the Thamud.

In addition, many Thamud cattle were deprived of water. That is the basis of the Thamud to carry out an evil plan, which is to kill the female camel.

One day, two young men of the Thamud named Mushadda bin Muharrij and Gudar bin Salif managed to kill the female camel by watching the camel while going to drink.

Mushadda quickly shot the calf and Gudar stabbed his sword in the camel's belly.

Seeing the camel that had been killed by the Thamud made the prophet Saleh sad. Then He said that there would come a punishment for the Thamud who did not return to the right way.

The signs of the doom were that on the first day, when they woke up they would find their faces turning yellow. On the second day, their faces would turn red. And on the third day, their faces would turn black. On the fourth day, the punishment of Allah will come.

Before the day of Allah's punishment, the Prophet Saleh and his followers left the area. Hearing the threat from the Prophet Saleh the Thamud planned to kill the Prophet Saleh.

When they were about to kill the Prophet Saleh suddenly came a thunderous lightning and a very powerful earthquake. Suddenly huge stones unknown where it came from hit their heads.

Allah SWT sent the prophet Saleh to bring the Thamud people back on the right path. Before being made an apostle, Saleh was a role model in the tribe of Thamud.

The Thamud people are famous for having reliable stone and building science. However, on the other hand they worship idols. This is in accordance with Surat Al-A'raf verse 73.

"And [We have sent] to the Thamud their brother Saleh. He said: "O my people, worship Allah, there is no God for you but Him. Verily, there has come to you a clear proof from your Lord. This she-camel of God is a sign to you, so let her eat in the earth of God, and do not disturb her with any disturbance, [for which] you will be subjected to a painful torment," translation of Al-A'raf verse 73.

When calling on the teachings of God, Saleh asked the Thamud to abandon idols and worship Allah SWT. Saleh called on the Thamud to repent.

"Hi Shaleh, indeed you were one of us before whom we wished, did you forbid us to worship what our fathers worshiped? And indeed we are deeply in doubt concerning the religion which you call upon us" said the Thamudites to the Prophet Saleh, as in Hud 62.Instead of hearing the prophet Saleh, the Thamud opposed him. The people of Thamud asked the Prophet Saleh to bring about a miracle.

"You are none other than a man like us; then bring a miracle, if you are of the righteous" the Thamudites said to the Prophet Saleh as in the letter of Ash-Shu'ara' verse 154.

The Thamud people asked Saleh to create a 10-month pregnant female camel on a rocky hill. The prophet Saleh took up the challenge and prayed that Allah would show His power.

Allah then cut the rock on the hill and in it appeared a female camel according to the request of the Thamudites. The female camel was known as the female camel of Allah, and the Prophet Saleh asked that the Thamud pay attention to the camel and let it eat freely. Nabi Saleh also warned that the female camel was not disturbed because she was able to meet the milk needs of the entire Thamud.

"And do not touch the female camel with any evil thing, which causes you to be struck by a great torment of the day" said Nabi Saleh according to Sura Assy-Shu'ara verse 156.

This miracle divided the Thamud into two parts. There are groups who believe in the greatness of Allah and follow the teachings of the Prophet Pious. However, there are also groups who deny and oppose the miracle.

Those who disbelieve are increasingly disbelieving and disturbing the female camel. The female camel of God is thought to disturb other farm animals, drink plenty of water, and walk freely.

The leaders of the Thamudites then made plans to kill the camel. A nobleman even made a contest with a big reward for killing a female camel.

At nightfall, nine men launched the act of killing the camel. The camel was harvested and stabbed along with its newborn child. The story of the camel's murder is found in the letter of Al-Qamar ayar 54.

The disbelievers of Thamud came back against the prophet Saleh to bring about the punishment after the camel was killed.

The prophet Saleh again reminded the people of Thamud to repent before the punishment actually came.

The people of Thamud were increasingly displeased with the advice of the prophet Saleh. They even planned the assassination of Nabi Saleh.

But not yet until that plan. Allah has commanded the Prophet Pious and those who believe to leave Al-Hijr because the punishment will soon come.

The torment appeared on the fourth day after the killing of the camel. On that day, lightning struck, the earth shook, and destroyed the people of Thamud. The people of Thamud perished because of the lightning and the earthquake.

"Therefore they were struck by an earthquake, so they became corpses scattered in their dwellings," following the translation of the letter of Al-A'raf verse 78.

From the story of Nabi Saleh there are a number of wisdom that can be learned. First, Allah showed His power through the miracle of the female camel to the Prophet Saleh.

Second, those who violate the commandments of Allah SWT will have a real punishment. The idols that the Thamud worshiped could not help them when the punishment of Allah came.

Third, Allah also gave time to the Thamud to repent starting from the command of the Prophet Saleh, the appearance of the female camel, and then after the killing of the camel. But when the punishment comes, repentance is meaningless with Allah.
