I Refuse to Be a Supporting Character
Chapter 7: Jing Ruo

By the time the waiter escorted the couple to their room, Gu Jin had recovered his mood. This is the real world, not just a pile of words in a novel. The characters described in the book are just the tip of the iceberg. How can everyone be explained in detail?

Since moving into the novel, her discomfort of being in the world of 'fiction' has disappeared significantly and her mood has also improved. Gu Jin looked at their room number, labeled 669; he laughingly said, “That's a lucky number.”

Shao Chong, whose arms were cuddled, naturally felt Gu Jin change. When she turned her head to look at him strangely, she was suddenly shocked by his beauty; it was something so delicate that she had not noticed it before.

He could not describe it, but it was as if a thick layer of fog was slowly lifted to reveal a hidden scene. But ever since they reached their room, Shao Chong quickly buried this doubt in his heart. Just as the couple entered through the door, the sound of Cheng Xin's complaint was clearly heard.

“Shao Chong, Little Jin, how did you come so late? I've been waiting a long time!”

Her voice was soft and sweet like cotton candy, and she whined like a spoiled child.

Gu Jin felt the arms of the man he was holding become stiff.

"Sorry, I was tired yesterday so I overslept.” Gu Jin let go of his arm and sat face to face with Cheng Xin. “How about Jing Hao? Why didn't he come?”

Shao Chong stepped forward and a faint glint flashed across his eyes. He continued to stare at Cheng Xin as he sat beside Gu Jin.

Thinking that Gu Jin, who had always been close to him, had asked the question sincerely, Cheng Xin immediately replied with a sad expression, “His sister has returned home, the, so he'll pick her up at the airport today.”

“Jing Hao's sister?” Gu Jin was surprised. He had almost forgotten that the male lead had a younger sister!

“This is the child of Grandpa Jing's friend who became an orphan. She was given their last name, and is the younger sister of Jing Hao.”

Yes, Gu Jin was reminded that Jing Hao had a younger sister named Jing Ruo in the novel. Both of Jing Ruo's parents died in an accident so Jing Hao's grandfather decided to bring him into the family for the sake of their many generations of family friendship. After he was adopted, he also changed his surname to theirs.

Since the current generation of the Jing family had no daughters, Jing Ruo was extremely popular and liked no less than how the actual Jing daughters would be treated.

If Gu Jin's role is a supporting friend, then Jin Ruo's role is that of a villain. She had been in love with her older brother since young, but Jing Hao only thought of her as his beloved sister who had always been nearby. In order to change his impression of her, Jing Ruo chose to go abroad for several years. She planned everything well, hoping that a few years later when she returned to China, Jing Hao no longer saw her as a little girl, but as a mature woman. She guessed that with the help of the Jing family, it would not be difficult for her to marry Jing Hao. Unfortunately, his plan could not keep up with the changes brought about by time. He never imagined that someone like Cheng Xin would show up and ruin his plans, causing his temperamental brother to actually open his heart to a woman for the first time. Under his ferocious rage, Jing Ruo's heart completely blackened. By utilizing his relationship with Jing Hao as a brother and sister, the female and male protagonists of the novel have to face many misunderstandings.

In the end, the villain scheme was canceled by the protagonists who settled their misunderstanding, and Jing Ruo was left in a very miserable state. “Don't mention it,” Cheng Xin said with a cheerful smile. “Dining today is a treat of Shao Chong. You have to feed me to pay for hurting my Little Jing. If you don't pay the price, both of us women should come and kill you.” Shao Chong's careful and restrained gaze focused on Cheng Xin's expression. He was clearly displeased and there was even a hint of pain being revealed within those eyes. Why would he choose a man like Jing Hao when he didn't even know how to appreciate it?
