I Refuse to Be a Supporting Character
Chapter 44: The Xu Family

At night, the black sedan drove through the mountain road towards the Xu family's secret home on the outskirts of the capital, located in the middle of the mountain and hidden behind trees.

From afar, only a wing-shaped roof could be seen emerging from within the mansion.

It was a very good place to recover.

Those who can live there must be very rich.

The car was stopped by guards at the gate.

After which, the car window slowly descended, revealing Mu Mingcheng's expressionless profile.

The guards immediately saluted then pressed the gate button, letting the car in smoothly.

After a short distance, a vintage page appears.

Mu Mingcheng got out of the car, straightened his clothes, then went straight in, Assistant Fang followed behind him.

There were winding roads on both sides, and every few meters were illuminated by street lights. In early summer, the grounds are very quiet, only occasionally heard the sound of frogs or crickets. However, as soon as they make a sound or screech, someone will catch or chase them away.

The normal amount of noise was usually fine, but tonight Grandpa was sick and couldn't stand the noise.

“Goodnight, Mr. Mu.”

The servants of the Xu family rushed back and forth with precise footsteps. When they saw Mu Mingcheng, they paused for a moment and greeted him, a sign of the high quality of their training.

Quite a number of people in the manor watched Mu Mingcheng grow up, and he would nod to the people he knew.

The door of the Main Hall, someone with a serious look, dressed in neat clothes, had a neat hairstyle, an ancient man walked out of the main hall.

He walked over to Mu Mingcheng with furrowed brows and asked in a scolding tone, “Why did you just get here now? Grandpa has waited a long time to finally talk to you.”

This person was Xu Chenghui. It was one meter and eighty-two tall, with a sturdy figure and a square face with powerful jaws. Among ordinary people, he was considered someone handsome.

Such a face makes him appear as a natural candidate for someone who is deep in politics.

However, when Mu Mingcheng arrived, Xu Chenghui's height and appearance were not comparable. Xu Chenghui unwillingly stood two meters before staring straight at the newcomer. He really doesn't like his cousin.

Mu Mingcheng's gaze swept through the inner space and he said with a laugh, “Why is the cousin so anxious? If grandpa knew why I was late, he would definitely be happy.”

Xu Chenghui could not guess what his cousin might do to please the old man.

But knowing who the master was between the two, Xu Chenghui had no choice but to lead by saying, “Quickly enter.”

As Mu Mingcheng walked in, the corner of his lips lifted into a sarcastic smile.

Naturally, the assistant and driver were not qualified to follow them, but this did not deter them from seeing Master Xu's displeased expression.

Seeing no one around, an assistant nudged the driver beside him and said with a grin, “Liu Tua, look at Mr. Xu.”'s arrogant posture

Old Liu looked at him indifferently, then walked two steps away and remained silent. They were all adults, and he could easily see Master Xu's character. He was not deaf, he heard their conversation clearly.

In the inner room, Old Master Xu lay on the bed with acupuncture needles all over his wrist. From time to time, his muddy gaze would point towards the door and he said in a weak voice, “Ming Cheng, why hasn't he come yet?”

The old woman with gray hair sat on a bench beside the bed and was accompanied by several men and women. The family doctor observes the situation from the other side of the bed.

“I just called and she said she'll be here soon,” replied Mrs Xu while covering her husband with a blanket.
