The two looked at each other for a long time, trying to guess what was left of them that was still worth talking about. All the beautiful memories that replaced the bitter pieces of the past story, or the story that has ended and no longer wants to be reopened? There is nothing more to talk about the heart, all the feelings are dead. Even good memories can't bring that feeling back.
"There's nothing we can talk about anymore, Vin," Dhatu broke the silence between them, "you must be able to accept the reality that exists between us. It's all over. There's nothing you can fight for anymore, because it's too late. You can't force someone to stay within the same time frame as you," Dhatu continued staring at the man before him in anger.
They have spent a lot of time together, carving out a beautiful story that is surprising, but not all of that should make both unworthy of finding happiness. Life must go on, ready unprepared, we must accept reality.
"So you wipe everything away, Tu," the man's hand stretched out to touch Dhatu's face. Dhatu's reflexes retreated and kept his distance from the man before him. The man smiled faintly watching Dhatu's reluctance to be touched by him. How bad was the relationship between them, so that there was not a beam of feeling left for his fragile heart?
"You once said that we would age together. Staring at the returning sun, holding hands forever, and both in love," the man smiled wryly, "then why are all the promises you've made so easily broken? You left me in solitude," continued the man staring fixedly at Dhatu.
Dhatu smiled miris. "I've given you plenty of opportunities, Vin. I give you a lot of signs, but you always leave. When I reached out, you never accepted my hand. You're still gone even if I ask you to stay."
"You never once gave me a cue, Tu!" the man's voice rose, unable to suppress the anger that began to spread to the corners of the heart. No longer could she deny that the delay between them had cut her heart.
Dhatu chuckled. "You forgot, I asked you to stay when your mother pulled you to leave me? Or when your friends insult my poverty because of my fashionable dress style, you don't defend and just watch me being insulted" Dhatu said in a trembling voice.
He is not a person who gives up easily and always gives up his whole heart to love someone. He always did the best he could so that the love he had could last forever. Dhatu will not collapse despite being hit many times. The humiliation he received almost every meeting of the man's family, did not make him feel inferior. But the man's indifference that ultimately makes Dhatu realize that there is never love between them. Only dependency is created from habituation. There is no point in fighting alone. In the end, however strong Dhatu was, he chose to give up and was far from all the pain created by the deep differences between them.
Alvin speechless. His tongue feels ugly. He believes, if his love is deep enough and there is no way he could have the heart to see the woman he loves hurt so badly. Is there something wrong with his memory? Alvin will always defend Dhatu. He didn't give up. The proof, after his friends talk about Dhatu clothes, the next day he took the woman shopping, but Dhatu who refused it raw. Even the clothes he was given were never worn by Dhatu. So ... Who's guilty here?
"You're wrong to remember, Tu. What happened like that. At least, everything seemed different to what was in my memory."
"When Mama pulled me, I followed her so she wouldn't be angry with you anymore. On the way, I told you good things. I'm trying to get you accepted, Tu." Alvin stared at Dhatu wistfully, "in my memory, everything about us was a struggle and now I'm quite well established. I am independent and my feelings are the same. Come back and I'll give you all the best."
Dhatu stared at the pair of eyes before him with a scrutinizing gaze. Just like his eyes used to be. The fool who does not understand about love even though he says the word love many times. Indeed love is not always about happiness, but constantly feeling low and also stupid, not also worthy of being called love.
"This is what makes you tormented when you're with you, Vin." Dhatu looked at the man full of anger, "everything is always about you again and again. Just you, until I feel ignored. You are the holy one who is always right, and I am just a sinner who is always wrong. Stop all this stupidity because the name of love will not be able to hurt like this, Vin You are just obsessed with the past that we can not return. There's no way for us to fix what's been smashed to pieces."
Quickly and without warning, Alvin pulls Dhatu's hand into his. He looked into the netra Dhatu, trying to convince the woman of his feelings that never died despite trying to kill him many times. That sense always grows and develops, being the reason for her staying alive and her hard work. There was no point in all the results he achieved today, if the woman was no longer by his side. He only wanted them as they used to be, why was it so hard to make Dhatu understand?
Dhatu throws Alvin's hand violently, his breath hunting because of the increasing anger due to the man's madness trying to turn the clock upside down. He does not like that man who can no longer think clearly. He shouldn't be obsessed with all the memories that have ended. Time is a precious thing, we cannot get back after losing it. If only Alvin had realized all that. Perhaps, he could find the same happiness as Dhatu.
"I don't mean to say that I'm always right, Tu," the man's voice trembled and his tears began to fall down his cheeks, "my heart hurts a lot, Tu. Shortness is not playing because of this excruciating feeling. I desperately endured all the pain, and you seemed out of reach. That fact, made my heart even more broken into pieces. Tell me, what am I supposed to do?"
The two looked at each other, palpating hearts that no longer had the same vibration. Maybe forgetting is not easy. Dhatu is too. The difference is, it has gone through that critical period.
"Open your eyes and accept the truth, Vin. If there is no more love between us" said Dhatu firmly.
He did not want to give false hope to reconcile the man's heart. Nor do they want to cede even though the man looks devastated. Let it be said cruel. Perhaps this was the only way to awaken the man from his long slumber. It is time to rise up and accept reality in plain sight. You can't run from reality forever, can you?
