Things That Follow Marriage

Dirga immediately put the ticket and voucher back in the envelope, then walked away from Dhatu. Dhatu follows and aligns the steps with Dirga. He knew if the man was upset. Maybe his fault also shows the peculiarity he found.

Lestari sat on the sofa watching television as soon as the two arrived in the living room. Too engrossed, not realizing that Dirga and Dhatu are walking closer. Dirga sat beside Lestari, disrupting the middle-aged woman's focus, while Dhatu preferred to stand beside Dirga. Fear the man will go crazy.

"You're done taking a shower. Want to eat now? Mama cooked this afternoon for you. Than bosen, so Mama cook it. Eat, yuk!" she said as she stood up, but Dirga prevented her and gave the envelope back to Lestari's hand.

The woman looked at Dirga confusedly, glancing at Dhatu, while Dhatu could only smile clumsily. He should not follow Dirga and better take a shower first, rather than getting caught between the conversation of the mother and child.

Lestari looked back at Dirga. "Kok, returned?"

"Why a week, Ma? The agreement was only two days." Dirga protested as she looked at her mother in annoyance.

The middle-aged woman chuckled softly, beginning to understand the mere meaning of her son. He pulled Dirga's hand and placed the envelope into her palm. "Both days are enough for a holiday. You're not on your honeymoon yet, so take this opportunity" Lestari said, smiling innocently, as if feeling innocent of the mess she caused.

"Me and Dhatu can't stay at work for so long, Ma."

Lestari again smiled, a smile that was able to make Dhatu shudder in horror. "Not only you can use your power, Ga. Mama has asked Papa to arrange your permission to cut you and Dhatu." the woman clasped Dirga's hand, "you just focus on giving a grandchild to us," continued Lestari while glancing at Dhatu, smiling seductively at Dhatu who suddenly felt the heat on both cheeks and smiling clumsy to cover the anxiety mixed with shame that spread to the heart.

"So, this is what Mama meant?" Dirga looked at his mother, who was stared unaffected. The middle-aged woman even nodded enthusiastically, not feeling guilty because her hidden intentions were discovered by Dirga.

"of course. So, what do you want to do on your honeymoon? Use it to focus on what you should be doing. Shouldn't be, it's not hard. Remember you already look familiar and not awkward. Or ... don't-don't ..." the woman looked at Dirga and Dhatu in turn.

Dhatu immediately snatched the envelope from Dirga's hand. He no longer wanted to listen to the confusing conversation. "We're leaving, Ma. Come on, we're eating!"

Lestari who just realized that Dhatu has not changed clothes asked. "Aren't you going to take a shower?"

Dhatu. "Later on, Ma. After eating."

Dhatu hugged his mother-in-law's arm and led the woman to the dinner table, while Dirga stared at the two women's bodies walking away. He never thought, what's wrong with his mother? Forcing as if the middle name of the middle-aged woman who had given birth to him was. With a huff Dirga stood up and caught up with the two women who were already sitting at the dining table.

Dhatu smiled clumsyly. Dirga knows, if the woman is as angry as her. He sat down next to Dhatu and the woman prepared her meal. They started eating dinner. Lestari occasionally gives silly ideas for both spend the honeymoon period, such as locking yourself in the room for a day and not being too tired. Both of them could only nod, even though their minds were refusing desperately.
