Mike hurriedly walked into his office. All this time Mike never dared to make an opportunity to be alone to talk to Verlita. But Verlita's gaze just now made her unable to hold back. "You haven't come home yet, Verlita? Are you used to overtime?" Mike looked at the numbers on his watch that already showed that this was already over these office hours.

"I'm just overtime sometimes sir, when there's a project that needs to be completed right away."

"Jawab just relax, Verlita. I am not inspecting your work. I just want to make sure how big your workload is before I'll add some more work for you to handle." Mike tried not to smile and calm Verlita who was still staring at Mike with full investigation.

Verlita seemed more relaxed hearing Mike's explanation. He smiled again and spoke well. "I am currently working on a software development project for our new client sir. But we have a problem with our company HR, sir. Some of my mainstay employees have been mutated and I have to handle some things on my own. Because of that, I've been overtime a lot lately."

Mike nodded attentively. "Good, Verlita. I am impressed with your dedication to your work. Because of that, I also thought of assigning new responsibilities to you."

Verlita looked at Mike with surprise. "New responsibility, sir?"

Mike finally could not help but hold his smile, Mike hoped to keep the two chat atmosphere relaxed even though they discussed the work professionally. "Yes, I'm working on a special project that I think will work out well if there's any help from you. This is a big project that requires expertise in software development. But not only that, I also prioritize employees who have high dedication to their work like you have this."

Verlita seemed to feel happy even though anxiety also seemed from the tension on her face. Mike knows he must be curious about the details of the project that will be bestowed on him.

Mike looked into Verlita's eyes with confidence. "Verlita, the project you are working on right now is also very important, and I appreciate your dedication. However, I believe you have the ability to overcome this new challenge."

Verlita did not expect to be stared at like this. Verlita could see Mike's confidence in his abilities and performance. There was a bit of guilt in Verlita's heart, but of course Verlita ignored it.

Verlita nodded slowly. "Thank you, Mr. Mike. I will give my best for both projects."

Mike smiled. "I think you can, Verlita. This new project is the development of the company's internal project management application. This application will help us in organizing and tracking the progress of projects that are running."

Verlita listened enthusiastically. "That sounds interesting, sir. But are you sure that I can make a meaningful contribution to the development of this application?"

Verlita smiled back sweetly, making Mike's heart even more cheesy to refrain from reaching out and kissing his lips like it used to. "I'll remember that, Mr. Mike. I'm really grateful for this opportunity."

Mike stood up from his chair and reached out to shake hands with Verlita. "May this project be an opportunity for you to continue to grow and prove your potential."

Verlita had no idea what Mike was saying this time. This handshake also showed that their conversation was enough and this meeting could be ended. Verlita should have immediately grabbed Mike's helping hand to shake. But Verlita was reluctant to shake her hand.

"I'll try my best, Mr. Mike." Verlita said with her sweetest smile as she slowly reached out to shake Mike's hand..

The gazes of the two lasted for quite a long time, as if there was an invisible magnet pulling them towards each other. Mike could feel his heartbeat speeding up, and he felt like he was in a slowing flow of time. He couldn't take his eyes off Verlita's eyes, as if there was something inside that swept Mike away. Verlita's gaze was so intense and warm, it made her feel like she was in a different world. He felt like getting closer, wanting to feel Verlita's presence more real.

Unknowingly, Mike's hand clasped Verlita's hand which still shook hands tighter and tighter. Their two hands were united in a tighter grip but the softness was felt to the recesses of Mike's heart. This made Mike feel a small vibration passing through his skin when they came into contact.

"Verlita," said Mike slowly, his voice trembling with emotions that felt so deep. Her eyes were still focused on Verlita's eyes, as if she was trying to read the feelings that were within them. Mike wants Verlita not to stop Mike from repeating the time they used to be lovers.
