Code 810: Corpse On The Hill
Chapter 41. Requesting a sample of Ivan's DNA

Detective Egan can't wait for a warrant from Mr. Brox, sitting with his legs on which he keeps moving behind his computer that hasn't been on since he got here early this morning.

At that time his partner, detective Keiko had not yet come to the office even though the clock on the wall of their room had shown at eight in the morning passed.

Many times detective Egan checks the cell phone and the clock on the wall of the room periodically and alternately. His impatient attitude was very obvious this time, even all his friends in the room could notice it easily.

At around nine in the morning, finally detectives Keiko and Brox, their superiors came simultaneously. Mr. Brox walked past detective Egan without saying hello and went straight into the room and closed the door and closed the curtain on the window that immediately faced the detective's room.

Detective Egan just got up from his seat to meet Mr. Brox and detective Keiko held him.

“Ngga do not bother Mr. Brox first,” said detective Keiko while holding back detective Egan's steps.

“But we need that warrant,” Detective Egan said.

“The letter is with me. Nih,” retorts detective Keiko while showing the warrant that has been signed by the authorities.

Detective Egan smiles, satisfied that he can now meet Ivan, the forest policeman, and determine whether his theory is true or only his imagination leads him to Ivan.

“We leave now?“ ask detective Keiko.

“Faster will be better too,” replied detective Egan.

With a sense of excitement in the chest, which can also not be interpreted completely by detective Egan, finally he and detective Keiko manaiki their official car and back to trace the village road under the hill.

As usual, detective Egan parked their service car in a parking lot provided under the hill where the Tania murder occurred a few weeks ago.

When detective Egan gets out of the car, Ivan just exits a room he calls an 'office' that sits slightly above the parking lot.

Casually Ivan greeted, “Welcome detective sir. You come again, isn't it a sunny day this September?!“

Detective Egan walks over to Ivan after detective Keiko gets out of the car.

“Imagine, sunny day is almost cloudless in September. What a rare thing huh?!“ detective Egan said.

“True. Usually in September like this rarely come to this hill. Makes a distinctive quiet atmosphere. The hill will be again crowded when entering February later,” Ivan tried to explain the situation of the hill at certain times.

“Will in your experience, little or almost no one will go up the hill in the months like now?“ ask detective Egan.

“If in my experience during the stay on this hill, yes about like that.“

“But maybe you can also make a mistake, right?!“

“Is there any error from my remark, Ivan? detective Egan asked when he found out he had touched something Ivan didn't want to show.

“Certainly detective. We're all human, we might make mistakes, right!?“ reply Ivan with a sneer that at first glance looks so terrible.

“We are here to ask for your help, Ivan,” detective Keiko said.

The grin on Ivan's face instantly changed as he turned his gaze from detective Egan to detective Keiko.

“What kind of help do you wantkqn detective?“

“Are you willing to give us your DNA sample?“ ask detective Keiko kindly.

“For what if I can know?“

“To—”

“Am I now on your list of suspects?“ ask her with a dirty voice trying to disguise.

“We saw in our database, that your DNA is not there yet, ” detective Keiko tried to give an excuse that seems unsuccessful.

“Why do you ask for it now, when the case happened around where I work? Where have you been all this time?“ asked Ivan in anger.

“Why is the tone so angry, Ivan?“ ask detective Egan.

“Try you tell me why I am so angry?“ Ivan asks detective Egan the same question.

The atmosphere at that moment was suddenly silent. Both detectives Egan and Ivan are both overwhelmed by anger in each other's chests, they need to calm down first but it looks like detective Egan whose patience is only a tissue can no longer hold back.

“Give your DNA sample!“ he shouted at Ivan.

“I don't want!“ Ivan replied no less fiercely.

“What if I force?“

“Give me a warrant then I will give you my DNA,” Ivan replied.

Detective Egan opened and showed us the warrant he got this morning from Mr. Brox and he said, “Then give us your DNA sample right now.“
