Chapter 56. Envy

Abigail was talking to her family when Sarah approached.

"Welcome to the Zee Family, future daughter-in-law." His speech was accompanied by a sweet smile that even made Abigail shudder in horror. "I can't wait to have a friend tell me."

"Please guide her, madam. Abigail needs to learn a lot." Aunt Lan responded to Sarah's remark.

"Of course, with pleasure." Sarah smiled, but when her eyes looked at Abigail's eyes, something was hidden. "Excuse me."

"Please Madam." Abigail nodded in small respect.

After Sarah's departure, Zico's grandfather came with several important people who knew him well.

Abigail was overwhelmed by the chatter of so many people who used to be her grandfather's loyalist.

"So, wherever your political direction is, we'll be ready to support." Said one of them. "More than tomorrow is the presidential election."

Abigail smiled, she never thought in that direction.

"For the time being, I haven't thought anything about politics, sir. Sorry to disappoint." Abigail responded by telling the truth.

"It's okay Miss. You just came out to the public anyway. So we understand that. And sorry if we're too excited."

Abigail smiled and lowered her head. Then he said goodbye to go to the bathroom.

"Runa, have you seen Abigail?" Darren asked as soon as he stopped beside Trias.

Runa frowned. "No Brother. I think Darren was with Ai."

"What's wrong?" Trias looked at the worry on Darren's face.

"I've been going around here looking for him. Even now Micah and Liam are already searching."

Darren took a deep breath, his face looking extremely anxious. He then rushed out of the ballroom looking for Micah who he knew was in Abigail's dressing room. But not far away Darren stepped, Sarah has followed him.

"Darren!"

Darren snorted in annoyance. He did not stop even though he heard the woman running.

"I know where Abigail is."

Lady Sarah's words made Darren stop his steps. The young man even turned around to approach Sarah quickly.

"Where is he?!"

Sarah smiled cunningly. "Cancel your decision to join the company, then I'll tell you." The woman begins to bargain with Darren.

"So you kidnapped Abigail for treasure?" Darren immediately knew where the woman was going.

Sarah shrugged both of her shoulders. "That's just one of them."

Darren fell silent, he thought about Sarah's request. "Alright, but I want to see Abigail first."

Sarah smiled with satisfaction, Darren's answer was exactly the same as her lover's guess.

"If anything happens to Abigail, I'll kill you." Imbuh Darren again.

Sarah chuckles at Darren who has been ignited by his emotions.

"I know that. Come on." Sarah walked ahead of Darren.

Unbeknownst to them, there was someone following them with a camera in hand.

Sarah takes Darren out of the hotel and into the back yard of the luxury hotel. They entered a room and then went down the stairs. Darren suspects that the place is a wine storage warehouse that is in stock for the hotel.

They arrived at a wider place. There Abigail was sitting on a chair bound. A woman in black clothes stood beside him. And in front of Abigail, sat a man in a neat suit.

Darren froze as soon as he saw the man. She no longer follows Sarah, her stepmother. Darren's shock didn't stop there. For the next second the man stood up to greet Sarah and then clenched her lips.

Sarah pushed the man's chest and turned to look at Darren while rubbing the salivary marks on her lips.

"Your reaction is overrated." Sarah smiled demeaningly. "Catch him!"

From behind Darren appeared a few men and directly snatched up the young man. They sat Darren next to Abigail.

Abigail whose mouth was tied in cloth could only stare at Darren flatly.

Sarah slowly approached Abigail and opened the cloth that bound the girl's mouth.

"Good night Mr. Robert de Lima. How are you doing? Long time no see." Abigail smiled a thin smile. "Last time I met, I was in hiding and saw you two kissing in front of my family's body after you punched my papa in the head with your bullet."

Darren was flabbergasted, he looked at Abigail with perfectly widened eyes. He did not expect the events experienced by Abigail Semengerikan. Then the young man looked at Sarah who looked wrong.

Now Darren understands why Micah pulled Abigail from the mission. It turned out that Brody's parents were slaughtering the Li Family.

Robert chuckled at Abigail's words. "My news is good, and I will soon be President of this country." Answer the man confidently.

Abigail nodded her head, not looking the slightest bit of fear on the girl's face.

"So.." Robert's face was filled with anger. "You avenged your family's death by killing my son, Brody?"

Abigail's forehead frowned. "Rosalin shot him, why do you think I killed Brody?"

"Of course it's because you cornered Rosalin." Sarah growled and pulled Abigail's hair until she was strangled when her head was forced to look up.

"The cheating man defends the cheating man." Darren chuckled and sounded mocking.

Sarah releases Abigail's hair and approaches Darren and slaps the young man. Feeling unsatisfied, Sarah pulls a gun on the waist of the woman who kidnapped Abigail. He immediately pointed the gun at Darren.

"I'm sick of all the insults from your mouth!!!" Sarah said with overflowing emotions.

"Please my dear." Robert rubbed Sarah's shoulder and took the gun out of her hand. "Don't corrode your hands with their blood. Let the woman do the execution." Robert said as he looked at the woman in black.

Abigail stared at Robert flatly. "So you're gonna bring me and my family together?"

Robert raised his eyebrows. "certain."

"If I knew there was no point, but I wanted to know. Why did you kill them?" Abigail's eyes glazed over. Not because of fear of his death, but because of the pain he suffered every time he remembered the event.

Despite knowing he was going to suffer, Abigail asked Robert. Ever since his memory returned, he had always been curious about the motives of Robert de Lima killing his family.

"just simple. The old man did not want to issue a letter of recommendation so that I could contest the election of the party chairman. Then your father was always against my proposals related to party finances." Answer Robert easily.

"That's all?" Abigail did not expect. "Why kill?"

"Because in the future in case of a finding, the corpse can't testify." Robert chuckled softly. "Your family influenced many people to oppose me. They are selfish, even though I can lead much better than them. My proposal is only for the welfare of the party, why is it always rejected?"

"Because they know you're the one who's always been corrupt to spend money." Seloroh Darren's.

Robert laughed at Darren's words. "I don't care about the way. The important thing is the money. Your family's too straight in the political world."

"And you, Miss Sarah?" Abigail stared with a sharp look. "I remember, you're my mom's best friend."

Robert grabbed Sarah and peeked at the woman's cheek. "Because they're going to die soon, you better tell me."

Sarah just smiled wryly, she looked at Abigail cynically.

"Friend? I don't consider your mother a friend. He's just a money machine to me. Just tell a little story and shed tears, your stupid mother will believe and give money."

Abigail's hands tied behind her clenched. He did not accept the insult of his mother.

"He doesn't like me being in a relationship with Robert. Besides, I'm jealous of Bella, your mama. She lives a luxurious and comfortable life, has money and a happy family." Sarah laughed sweetly. "I didn't manage to tease Jonas. So it's better they die than I can't have."

Abigail fell silent, from the story of the two men she came to a conclusion. The envy on which they are based does such a cruel thing.
