"Windows closed and barred. The killer exited through the door, locked the door, and carried the key. He thought people would think that Protheroe locked himself in a room and shot himself, while this missing key would not be noticed. You agree, Commissioner Saga?"
"I do agree. But, it's simpler and better if the killer slips the key back into the room, down the door. It was as if the key had fallen out of place."
"Well, you don't expect everyone to have the brightest thoughts you have. If you were a criminal, it would be awesome. Any comment, Commissioner Saga?"
To me, Commissioner Saga seems to be losing his mind. He looked around the room and said lightly and in an apologetic tone,
"He smokes a lot, this monsieur." Is correct. A kiln full of cigarette butts. Similarly, the ashtray is located on a small table, near a large chair that has handrails. "He must have sucked about twenty sticks last night" Inspector Alex said.
While bending over Inspector Alex examined the contents of the kiln closely, then turned his attention to the ashtray.
"These cigarettes are the same," he reports, "and smoked by the same man. Nothing, Commissioner Saga."
"I didn't say anything" my best friend muttered.
"Hhhh!" exclaim Inspector Alex.
"What's this?" He grabbed a shiny object lying on the floor, near the deceased.
"Cracked cufflink. I wonder whose it is. Doctor Giles, will you come down and call the housekeeper here?"
"What about Parker's husband and wife" Parker was eager to leave the house. He said he had urgent business in London."
"This case will continue to be dealt with without him. Looking at the situation, it seemed that there would be urgent matters that he had to sort out here! Call the housekeeper and don't let either Parker outwit you or Pollard. Did anyone enter this room this morning?" Doctor Giles thought.
"No. While me and Pollard entered they were standing outside, in the corridor."
"Creased so?"
"A hundred percent." Doctor Giles is out to fulfill Inspector Alex's request.
"Well that doctor, well" said Inspector Alex happily.
"Doctors who enjoy exercising are usually great. I wonder who shot this man. Looks like one of the three residents of this house. I hardly suspect the housekeeper. If he wanted to shoot the deceased, he would have eight years to do so. I wonder for myself, who exactly is this Parker couple"
They don't seem like a good couple." At that moment Miss Clegg appeared. She was a thin, dry-haired woman neatly separated in the middle, very quiet and serious, and carrying a calm.
Nonetheless, there was an impression of efficiency in him that elicited respect. He answers Inspector Alex's questions by explaining that he has lived with the deceased for fourteen years.
The victim is a generous and kind employer. Mr and Mrs Parker had not been seen until three days ago, when unexpectedly the two came to stay the night. According to him, the couple themselves made a request to stay the night.
It was obvious that his master did not like their presence. The cufflink Inspector Alex showed him must not have belonged to Protheroe - he was convinced of this. When asked about the gun, he said that his master did have such a weapon, which was kept in a locked place.
A few years ago Miss Clegg saw such a weapon, but she could not confirm whether it was the one she had seen. Last night he heard no gunshots. However, this is not surprising because the house is large and irregular.
In addition, his room and the room used by the Parker couple are located at the other end. He did not know what time Protheroe went to sleep - the deceased was still awake when he entered the room at 21:30. Going to bed is not the habit of the master after entering the room.
Usually the master sits around, reads, and smokes until midnight. The deceased was a heavy smoker. Commissioner Saga's turn asked questions.
"Usually your employer sleeps with the window open or closed?" Miss Clegg thought.
"usually open. The top window is always open."
"But now the window is closed. Can you explain why?"
"No, except maybe you felt a puff of air and closed the window." Inspector Alex asked a few more questions, then told the woman to leave.
Next Inspector Alex interviewed Parker's husband and wife separately. Mrs Parker tends to be hysterical and teary-eyed. While Mr. Parker's answer was full of bluff and scatters. She denied that the cufflink was hers, but because her wife had previously recognized the cufflink as her husband's, her denial was in vain.
In addition, Parker denies having entered Protheroe's room. Inspector Alex thinks he has enough evidence to file a warrant for his detention. By having Pollard guard, Inspector Alex hastily returns to the village and calls the headquarters. Rani and Commissioner Saga return to the inn.
"You don't usually just shut up" said Rani.
"Rather. Very interesting to me. But, confusing."
"The motive is unclear" katRani solemnly.
"But Rani believes Parker is evil. The incriminating case is obvious, only the motive has not been uncovered."
"Isn't there anything important that caught your eye, that Inspector Alex might have forgotten?" Rani looked at him, looking for information.
"What are you thinking, Commissioner Saga?"
"What's up on the deceased's arm?"
"Oh, that handkerchief!"
"Persian. The handkerchief."
"Sailors always carry a handkerchief on his arm" Rani said seriously.
"That's a good thought, Rani, even if that's not what I have in mind."
"Is there anything else?"
"Yes. Many times Rani breathes air to smell cigarette smoke."
"Rani didn't smell that at all," I cried in a questioning tone.
"Rani didn't either, buddy."
Rani looked at Commissioner Saga sharply. It's hard to know if Commissioner Saga is tricking Rani. But this time he looked serious and frowned at himself.
Examination of the body was held two days later. Meanwhile, other evidence was revealed. A homeless man claimed to have climbed a wall to get into the gardens of Leigh House, where he often slept in a warehouse left unlocked.
The homeless man said he heard two men fighting in a room on the first floor at midnight. One asked for some money; the other refused irately. By hiding in the semaksemak, the vagabond could see the two men fighting as the two walked pacing through the bright window.
All he knew for sure was Protheroe, the owner of the house, while the only one he had firmly identified as Parker. It is evident now that Parker's husband and wife came to Leigh House to blackmail Protheroe. Later, it was revealed that the deceased's real name was Wendover and the deceased had been a Navy lieutenant and was involved in the case of the detonation of the first class cruise ship, Merrythought, in 1910, it seems that this will soon become clear.
It is thought that Parker, knowing the role that Wendover has played, traced Wendover's trail to get the mouth-lock money - which was rejected by the deceased. At the height of the altercation Wendover pulled out his revolver, Parker snatched the gun and shot it. Parker then tries to give the impression that the deceased committed suicide.
Parker was brought to trial without exercising his right of self-defense. We were present at the police court meetings. On the time of leaving the place Commissioner Saga nodded.
"Surely so," he whispered to himself.
"Yes, that must be so. Rani won't procrastinate anymore."
Commissioner Saga went to the post office and wrote a message delivered by the special envoy. Rani did not know to whom the message was addressed. After that we returned to the inn, where we stayed during this memorable weekend. Commissioner Saga was agitated, walking more and more towards the window.
"Rani is waiting for guests" he explained.
"No way - definitely not possible Rani mistaken. No. gabe. This is the man." Rani was astonished.
The next minute Miss Clegg stepped in. He was not as calm as usual and was panting, as if he had just run. I saw fear in his eyes when he looked at Commissioner Saga.
"Please sit down, Mademoiselle," said Commissioner Saga kindly.
"My guess is correct, isn't it?" In response the crying of the woman exploded.
"Why did you do it?" ask Commissioner Saga softly.
"Why?"
"I love her so much" said Miss Clegg.
