Three Character Girl

Three Character Girl
Red Narky

"Will you meet me tonight to report the results?"

"Sure, when I'm back."

"The good inspector believes in moving matters" whispered Commissioner Saga as Japp departed.

"He traveled, measured the tracks, collected dust and cigarettes! So busy! He works behind his words! If I call it psychology in front of him, you know what he's going to do, buddy" He'll smile! He will say to himself,

'Pity, Commissioner Saga! He was old, already getting senile!' Japp is a 'young generation full of effort'. And ma foi! They were so busy trying that they didn't see that the results were visible!"

"What are you gonna do?"

"Because we have carte blanche, I'm going to spend three pennies to call the Ritz, where the prince lives. After that, since both my legs are slightly moist and Rani has sneezed twice, Rani will return to the room and let myself rest."

I didn't see Commissioner Saga again until the next day when I found out he was finishing his breakfast quietly.

"What's going on?" Rani finds out excitedly.

"There's nothing."

"Japp?"

"Rani hasn't seen it."

"The prince?"

"He left the Ritz yesterday."

"On the day the murder happened?" "Yes." Yeah."

"Then, it's done. Definitely, Rupert Carrington!"

"Because Prince de la Rochefour has left the Ritz" You concluded too soon, my friend."

"After all, he must be overshadowed, arrested! But what's the motive?"

"A jewel worth a hundred thousand pounds is a very attractive motif to anyone as well. The question that's haunting my mind right now is why kill Flossie" Why not just steal those gems" Flossie wouldn't sue?"

"Why not?"

"Because she's a woman, buddy. He loved this man once. That was why he would accept losing his jewel without opening his voice. And the Prince is a wonderful psychologist in women - and therefore successful - who knows this well! On the other hand, if Rupert Carrington was the killer, why would he take away the gems that would incriminate him?"

"To confuse."

"Maybe you are right, my friend. Ah, here comes Japp! Rani knows the knock on her shoes." Inspector Japp walked in with a beaming face.

"Morning, Commissioner Saga. Just got back. I've been working well. How about your own?"

"I have compiled my ideas" said Commissioner Saga calmly. Japp laughed out loud. "The old man always does," Japp said to Rani on the sidelines of her breath

. "The principle does not apply to us young people" he said out loud.

"Quel dommage?" Commissioner Saga found out.

"You want to hear what I've done?"

"May I guess" You've found the knife used to kill, on the edge of the railroad between Weston and Taunton, and you've interviewed the newspaper boy who spoke to Mrs Carrington in Weston!" Japp's jaw is clenched.

"I'm so excited because you admit my brain cells are great! Did Flossie give the paper peddler one shilling?"

"Even twelve and a half pence!" Japp had rediscovered his war and grinned.

"Thank you, these rich Americans!"

"As a result, the child will not forget?"

"Persian. Not every day he receives twelve and a half pennies. Flossie called him and bought two magazines. One skinned the face of a girl in blue clothes. 'That suits me, ' Flossie exclaimed. Oh, the boy remembered it perfectly. Well, this is enough for me. According to the doctor's testimony, the murder must have been committed before entering Taunton. I guess the killer threw out the knife in a moment. I walked along the tracks to look for him. That knife is there. At Taunton I found out about the person we were looking for, but Taunton station was so vast that it was impossible for people to see it. It's possible the killer's back in London on the next train." Commissioner Saga assented.

"It's possible."

"When I got home, I got another piece of news. The killer has channeled the gems he got. The great Jamrud was mortgaged last night - by one of the conspirators. Who do you think that guy is?"

"I don't know - unless the guy's short." Japp.

"Well, in this case you're right. He's pretty short. His name is Red Narky."

"Who is he?" ask Rani.

"The jewel thief is extraordinarily clever. But he is not a man who kills. Usually he's working with a woman, Gracie Kidd; but this time it looks like Gracie isn't involved - unless he's gone to Holland with the rest of the stolen goods."

"You've arrested Narky?"

"certain. But it was actually another man we wanted - the man who went with Mrs Carrington on the train. Obviously, he was the one who planned the murder. Unfortunately, Narky won't betray his friend." I saw Commissioner Saga's eyes become so green.

"I guess," he said softly,

"i can find Narky's friend for you."

"One of your little ideas, eh?" Japp looked at Commissioner Saga sharply.

"Sometimes it's amazing how you manage to do what you want, given your age and others. The luck of others, of course."

"Maybe, perhaps," whispered Commissioner Saga.

"Rani, hat. And brush my rubber boots, if it's still raining! We can't possibly mess up Tisane's work. See you, Japp."

"Hopefully succeed, Commissioner Saga." Commissioner Saga called the first taxi we found and asked the driver to go to Park Lane.

When the taxi stopped outside Halliday's house, the nimble Commissioner Saga jumped out, paid for the taxi, and rang the bell. To the receptionist who opened the door, he made a request in a low voice, and immediately we were taken upstairs.

We headed to the top floor, then escorted into a small and neat bedroom. Commissioner Saga's gaze wandered around the room, stopping at the small black suitcase. He knelt in front of the suitcase, scrutinized the label carefully, then took out a small roll of wires from his pocket.

"Ask Mr. Halliday if he would accompany me here" he told the receptionist.

The guest left the room. Commissioner Saga carefully fiddled with the keys of the suitcase with his trained hands. Within minutes the bag was open. Lid the suitcase. Quickly he searched and threw the clothes in the suitcase to the floor.

There were sounds of heavy steps on the stairs and Halliday came in.

"What are you doing here?" demand it while staring hard.

"Monsieur, I'm looking for this." Commissioner Saga pulled a bright blue striped coat and lower skirt as well as a small cap without fringe and white wolf fur.

"What are you doing with my suitcase?" Rani turned her head and saw Jane Mason, the waiter, already in the room.
