Three Character Girl

Three Character Girl
The Pangelley case

"Really?"ask the curious commissioner Saga.

"Yes. Doesn't this make no sense" Aunt's age is over half a century while Radnor's not 30 yet! But that's the truth. Auntie's love for Radnor is blind! Finally, I was forced to say that I was the one Radnor was after." explained Freda who paused for a moment to take her breath.

"Auntie didn't believe me and insulted me so much that I became angry. I then complained to Radnor We agreed that the best way was for me to leave the house temporarily until Auntie regained consciousness. Poor aunt I think Aunt is in an abnormal state." Freda continued.

"looks like. Thank you, Miss Freda, you made this matter so clear to me" said commissioner Saga.

Then Rani and commissioner Saga said goodbye and they stepped down the emergency stairs, because the elevator in the apartment was waiting for many people.

Rani and commissioner Saga were a little surprised I saw Radnor waiting for them downstairs.

"I can guess exactly what Freda told you both" Radnor said.

"A unfortunate event. And as you can imagine, it's very unpleasant for me. At first I was happy because I thought the old woman was helping Freda. Everything is completely absurd - at the same time very unpleasant" Radnor continued

"When are you and Miss Freda getting married?" ask Rani.

"Please immediately, madam, I must be frank with you. I know a little more than Freda. Freda believes her uncle is innocent; whereas I am not so sure. But I have to say one thing: I will keep my mouth shut about what I am doing now. No need to cause any trouble. I don't want my wife's uncle to be tried and hanged for murder" Radnor said.

"Why did you tell us all this?" ask the curious commissioner Saga.

"Because I've heard about you guys and I know you guys are great. Maybe once you'll find a case that incriminates him. But, I tell you - what good is that? The poor woman no longer needs help and she's so anti-scandal, she could die just thinking about it" Radnor said.

"Maybe you're right. Then you want me - memetieskan (Editor: me+peti+es+kan) this matter?" ask the curious commissioner Saga.

"so. Frankly I admit, in this case I am selfish. I already have a job and am building a small business as a tailor and selling men's clothing" Radnor replied.

"Most of us are selfish, Radnor. Not everyone admits it frankly. I'll follow your request - but frankly I'm saying you won't be able to silence this." Connect Radnor.

"Why not?" ask commissioner Saga by upholding one finger.

It was a market day and was passing through a market - a buzz was heard from within the market.

"The voice of the crowd - that's why, Radnor. Ah, we must hurry or miss the train." exclaimed Commissioner Saga.

"It's interesting, isn't it, Rani?" ask commissioner Saga as the train moves out of the station.

"It seems that you concluded so," Rani chimed in.

"For me this thing is a bit dirty and unpleasant. It contains almost no mystery at all" commissioner Saga said.

"I agree. There is no mystery at all." said Rani.

"Can we accept the rather remarkable girl's story of her aunt's insanity to Radnor? To me, that's the only part that looks suspicious. Mrs Pengelley is very kind and honorable" commissioner Saga said.

 "And you thought.." asked Rani.

"It's possible that clever men take advantage of such times" commissioner Saga said.

"I think Pengelley is not so clever" said Rani while contemplating.

"He was the talk of the whole city. Even so, I think you're right. Radnor and the doctor. These two people know everything and they both want this to be fixed. He has succeeded anyway. If only we had met with the doctor before." continued Rani.

"Put your heart. Come back with the following train and pretend to have a toothache" said commissioner Saga, who looked at Rani sharply.

"If only I knew what you find so interesting in this case."

"My interest is precisely because of your comment, Hastings. After interviewing the waiter, you saw that he said he didn't want to say anything, but the woman actually spoke a lot" commissioner Saga said.

"Oh," said Rani doubtfully. Then I went back to my criticism,

"I wonder to myself why have you not tried to meet Mr Pengelley?" ask commissioner Saga.

"I gave him three months, then I'll see him if I want to - at the defendant's place in court" Rani said.

For a moment Rani thought Poirot's prophecy would miss. Time goes on and nothing happens with respect to their Cornish case.

Other things occupied them so much that Rani almost forgot about Pengelley's tragedy when a short piece of writing in the newspaper suddenly reminded me. The paragraph stated that the order to dig up Mrs Pengelley's body had been received from the Secretary of Household Affairs.

A few days later, 'Mystery Cornish' became a news topic in all the newspapers. It seems that gossip never really goes away. At the time of Pengelley's engagement to Miss Marks, her secretary, was announced, the voices outside exploded louder than they had ever been.

Finally petitioned the Secretary of Home Affairs; the body was exhumed again; large doses of arsenic were found; and Mr. Pengelley was arrested on charges of murdering his wife.

Rani and commissioner Saga attended the preliminary complaints. As expected, the evidence gathered was considerable. Dr. Adams admitted that the symptoms of arsenic poisoning are easily mistaken as symptoms of inflammation of the stomach.

The experts of the Household Affairs office gave their testimony. Jessie, the waiter, gave her testimony, which was largely rejected but clearly further incriminated the defendant
