The experts of the Household Affairs office gave their testimony. Jessie, the waiter, gave her testimony, which was largely rejected but clearly further incriminated the defendant
Freda Stanton pointed out that her aunt's condition worsened when the woman ate the food her husband prepared. Radnor recounts how, suddenly, he stopped by the day Mrs Pengelley died and got Pengelley to put back a bottle of weed-killing medicine on a shelf in the barn, while Mrs Pengelley's porridge was located on a table nearby.
Then Miss Marks, the bright-haired secretary, was called. The woman cried, screamed hysterically, and admitted to a special relationship between herself and her employer that her boss promised to marry her in case something happened to her. Pengelley declared his defence and was brought to justice.
Radnor walks with commissioners Saga and Rani, back to their inn.
"You see, Radnor," said commissioner Saga,
"i'm right. The voice of the people spoke without a tone of doubt. There won't be any sorting of this case." he continued.
"You are absolutely right" said Radnor who sighed.
"Do you see the possibility of him being released?" ask Radnor .
"Well, he's already declared his defense. There may be something secret that will be revealed later, as you, the English, say. Come inside. You don't mind?" obviously Commissioner Saga and invited Radnor for coffee.
Radnor accepted the invitation, and they headed to the nearby copishop who had already known his enjoyment.
"Of course,"
"I have a lot of experience in things like this. And I see there's only one way out for you" commissioner Saga said.
"What is it?" ask the curious Radnor.
"You must sign this statement" said Commissioner Saga who, at the speed of a magician, took out a piece of paper full of writing.
"What's this?" ask Radnor who is growing curious.
"The admission that you killed Mrs Pengelley." replied Commissioner Saga.
The atmosphere was silent for a moment; then Radnor laughed.
"Huh...ha....! You're crazy!"
"No, no, buddy. I'm not crazy. You come here; start building a small business; and you're short on money. Mr. Pengelley is a wealthy man. You meet his nephew and he tends to be friendly to you. However, there is little money that Pengelley may give him at the time of your wedding. That number is not enough. You must free yourself, both from the girl's uncle and aunt, if you want the treasure to fall into his hands because he is the only family. Not playing smart you planned all this! You fondle that innocent middle-aged woman, so that she becomes your slave. You instill suspicion in her husband. At first it was about her husband's betrayal - then, that her husband was poisoning her. You are often in the house until you have the opportunity to put arsenic into the food. However, you are careful not to do it when the husband leaves. As a woman, she did not keep her own suspicions. He told this feeling to his nephew. No doubt the nephew passed it on to his other female friends. Your only problem is to maintain a relationship with each of the two women, which for you does not matter. To your aunt you explained that you must pretend to be dating the niece to avoid her husband's suspicions. And the young lady just needs a little reassurance - she will never really consider her aunt a rival." Commissioner Saga explained.
"However, then Mrs Pengelley decided to consult me, without saying anything to you. If she were absolutely certain that her husband was trying to poison her, she would not feel guilty about leaving him and living with you - that's how you want him to be. Though his imagination is not at all in accordance with the storyline that you arrange. You don't want any detectives to interfere. A favorable moment arrives. You were in that house when Mr. Pengelley took the porridge for his wife and you gave that lethal dose. Next is easy to guess. It seems that you are hoping to detect these problems, but secretly you are raising them." said Commissioner Saga.
Radnor was pale as a corpse, though he was still trying to cover up his mistake.
"Exciting and clever. What is the reason for all these accusations?" ask Radnor.
Radnor. "You have no proof."
"Can't I prove it? I'm Rani. Look out the window. Two people on that street. They've been ordered to follow you" Rani said.
Radnor stepped towards the window, revealed the bamboo curtain, and returned while swearing.
"You see, Mr Radnor! Sign - this is the best opportunity for you" Rani said.
"What guarantee do I get?"ask Radnor.
"That I can be trusted. Promise Rani if you'll sign" Rani says.
"Okay, please raise the left half curtain. It's a signal that Radnor can leave without being disturbed" said Radnor, who has a pale face and a muttered mouth, vowing Radnor to rush outside.
"Coward! I knew it a long time ago!" exclaimed Commissioner Saga who nodded gently.
"Sak Saga, for me you act in a criminal manner" shouted Rani riled.
"you always preach without feeling. Now you let a dangerous criminal escape solely on the grounds of feeling" Rani said.
"It's not a feeling - it's a business" replied commissioner Saga.
"Don't you understand, my friend, that we have no evidence against him" Shall I rise up and say to the silent Cornish that I, shall know. They'll laugh at me. The only way was to scare him and get his confession that way. Those two lounging people I saw outside were very useful. Put down the bamboo curtain again, Rani. There's no reason to raise it. That was just part of our tactics." explained Commissioner Saga.
"Well, well, we have to keep our word. Twenty-four hours, I said. Let Mr. Pengelley wait a little while - this is nothing more than he deserves. To remind you, he betrayed his wife. As you know, I'm very hard on family. Twenty-four hours later!" muttered commissioner Saga.
"I have complete trust in Inspector Alex. They'll catch him, Ran. They're going to arrest him." Commissioner Saga said.
