37. Not a Time to Be Happy

Everything is better now. I used to be tormented while living in my in-laws house, then I started to feel happiness while living in my own home and building my little family. But soon God returned to test me by taking my husband. Maybe that's the test I'm going through. And maybe it's time God gave me happiness.

I was thinking about what I should do next. I have to start my life without Sandy. Should I use that money to open a business? Or do I keep it for Damar's needs later? I can go back to work to meet my daily needs. Having money does not make me relax without thinking about the future.

The sound of knocking on the door blew my daydream. I rushed forward to see who was coming.

"Mas Aaron? Is there anything left behind?" I asked when I saw Mas Harun already standing in front of the door. Not long ago he went home with Mbak Eka, but now it's back again, definitely to take something that was left behind, I thought.

I looked directly at the mat we were sitting on. There's nothing there. So what does Mas Aaron need back here?

"Can I talk to you for a second?" Mas Aaron looks serious.

"Yes ... Have seat. Where is Ma'am Mas?" ask me a stale base.

"He's in a hurry, there's business" he replied briefly.

"What's up, Mom?"

"Look Emma, it turns out there are still costs to be incurred for administration. So I asked for money to take care of it" explained Mas Harun.

I feel something strange with Mas Aaron's intentions. I am not as smart as Ma'am Eka, but I am also not very stupid. If the administration is not finished, this house letter will not be in my hands.

"Didn't everything sort out? Why are there suddenly missed administrative costs?"

"There's still a notary Emma's fee, I'm sure you don't understand that. I didn't ask for everything, half of it."

I silently digested Mas Harun's words. He did not explain it in detail and it makes me feel even more awkward, because as far as I know everything has been taken care of by Mbak Eka including notary services.

"Please get me the money so I can give it to the notary now." Harun looked in a hurry. From the look on his face, he also looked unsettled.

Without thinking long I went to the room to take the money that Mas Aaron meant. I took those two envelopes because I didn't know how much money he needed to pay the notary. I threw away my curses, there is no way Mas Aaron would lie to me. I also did not dare to ask any further for fear of offending Mas Aaron. Later he thought I didn't believe him, even though I didn't believe him.

"It's Mas." I handed you both envelopes.

"Oh, this is enough." Mas Aaron took the envelope containing the money from the company and he said goodbye.

I stared at Mas Harun's departure with question marks. He wanted to believe what he said but still I felt that something was not right. Moreover, he is not with Mama Eka.

After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, I finally went to apply for a job this morning. I have to start working because of the accident insurance money I saved for Damar's needs later.

Damar, I've put him in Aunt RT's house. Later if I have started a new job I will ask people to take care of it. My salary is enough to pay for the services of a nanny and buy daily necessities.

Arriving at the factory, I was immediately accepted without any tests or anything. I told you, I'm experienced and these factory people already know my performance. They asked me to start work tomorrow morning. But I wasn't ready and asked for a deadline until Monday. I need to find a nanny for Damar. And the factory agreed.

I came home happy. It is true, I feel given a lot of ease after the departure of Handi. As I believe, Handi must have done a lot of good during her life until I got her reward.

I was stunned as soon as I parked my bike in the yard. There was my mother-in-law sitting on the porch. It seems he's been waiting a long time.

I walked closer after taking off my helmet.

"How are you, ma'am? Been long?" I asked while shaking his hand.

"Where are you from? Who's left alone with the child?" reply in-laws. From her tone alone I knew nothing had changed from my in-laws.

"I'm from applying for a job. Thank God, next week it starts working. Damar I leave the neighbor" I replied as I opened the door. "Please enter Ms ... Wait a minute, I'll change my clothes first."

My in-laws kept quiet and did not answer. But he immediately sat on the mat I had prepared.

Finished changing clothes with my house clothes out and making drinks for my in-laws.

"Please drink. Mom wait here, I'll pick up Damar."

"No need!" reply to my in-laws quickly.

Loh?!

"Didn't you come to see Damar?" many wonder. Why else would my in-laws come if not for Damar. He couldn't have come to see me because he missed me, right? Obviously that's not the reason.

"No! There's another matter I want to talk about!"

"What's the matter, ma'am?" I sit back. I don't know what kind of trouble he wants to make.

"Did Hasan and Aaron really pay off this house?!" ask my father-in-law without further ado. I was silent in shock at my in-laws question.

"Reply answer!"

"Yes, right. How do you know?"

"It doesn't matter where I know! Is it true that you also get money from the company where Handi works?!" my in-laws.

I realized my in-laws would sooner or later know everything but I didn't expect him to know this soon. Who told him?! Are there traitors among Mas Hasan, Ms Rina, Mas Harun or Mbak Eka?

"I came to ask for a home certificate" my in-laws said calmly.

"Did I hear wrong?" my many. Since yesterday my ears were tested with words that made me ask if my hearing was problematic or not.

"This house is Handi who filed KPR, Handi also paid installments every month. And Hasan and Aaron paid it off. Do you have a hand in paying for this house?"

I can't answer.

"Then what makes you feel entitled to own this house?! Is this house in your name? No right? This house is in the name of Handi!"

I was silent, unable to speak. When I thought everything would be easy, my in-laws came and screwed it up.

"I'm talking to you. Please give me this house letter and you can find another place to live."
