The Substitute

The Substitute
Agreeing together

Early in the day Ameera awoke from her sleep with her innocent body covered in a blanket. He stared into the face of the sleeping man with his arms around him. Smiles adorned Ameera's face. She then kissed her husband.

"I love you, my husband." whispered softly.

He recalled his conversation with Rangga shortly after the doctor examined Rangga's condition and left them both. At that moment, they expressed each other the feelings they had once stored.

Flashbacks

After being examined by a doctor and given several injections, Rangga felt better. Even his voice was not as weak as when he had just woken up, so his voice sounded clearer.

"Ameera. I want to say something." said Rangga in a weak voice.

"You still dare to talk after what you did to me?" sahut Ameera, he made his face like someone who was upset.

Rangga chuckled while holding onto his chest, enduring the pain left in his body.

"I'm sorry..." Rangga stared into Ameera's face, "You must have felt that I had chained your legs all this time. I limit your life. You don't even have any friends but me."

Ameera recalled that during school, Rangga was very limiting, even Ameera felt Rangga was very over-serving. He did not let Ameera get close to anyone but himself.

"I used to get upset a lot, I felt you and Dad were the most annoying combo package in the world." said Ameera.

"Have you ever wondered why your father and I did it?"

Ameera. He is very indifferent and does not care even though he sometimes feels curious.

"We did it to protect you. You don't know, all this time your life has been under someone's threat. You're the target of revenge for someone who wanted to destroy your father."

Hearing Rangga's words, Ameera laughed in surprise. Questions started to pop into his mind.

"What do you mean, Rangga?"

"You remember when you were attacked by some people? And there are a lot of people who come to protect you? They are the Chandra Jaya Group bodyguards assigned to guard you secretly."

Ameera's face had turned pale. He even wanted to cry. Rangga told Ameera everything. All the secrets kept so far. About Rudi who hid Ameera's identity as his son, and the reason why Rudi trained Ameera martial arts, shooting, archery and others. About the attack after the attack that occurred until finally the last incident that killed his father. Also the accident that killed his mother.

Ameera came back crying so much to listen to Rangga's story.

"Who did all this to me, Rangga?"

The deg!

Finally came the question from Ameera's lips that would be difficult to answer by Rangga. He is sure, Ameera will hate him if she knows that it was her father who caused Ameera to lose both parents.

"Well, I'll tell you everything and take risks, even if you'll end up hating me after I tell you the secret I've kept for so long."

Ameera furrowed her brows. There is a secret what exactly Rangga meant.

"Ameera's... My dad, your dad and Om Hasan were best friends.

Your mother and my father used to be lovers, before finally marrying your father. Because of something, eventually their friendship became enmity. Papa did all this. "

Ameera silently sculpted. It was like dropping an atomic bomb on his heart. "I'm sorry, Ameera. I'm afraid you'll hate me if you know who I am. That's why I hid it and chose to protect you for the redemption of my guilt."

For a while Ameera was silent and her cries were held back.

"Do you know who you are?"

Rangga nodded, "one day I came to him and told him who I really was. I promised your father I'd protect you with my life. That's when we agreed to protect you that way."

"You are evil Rangga." said Ameera. He cried again and for the first time Rangga did not dare to wipe his tears. "Why are you quiet? Why not wipe my tears. You're the one who made me cry?" Ameera shouted, making Rangga cover her ears that felt buzzing.

There was a feeling of relief in his heart hearing Ameera's words just now. He tried to grab Ameera's face and wipe away her tears. Ameera rested her head on the shoulder of the lying Rangga.

"Why are you protecting me in such a strange way?" ask Ameera in iringin.

"Because I love you, Ameera." whispered Rangga softly in Ameera's ear. "and because of my misfortune, I can only make you my best friend. I'm sorry." Rangga had already dropped her tears.

"I love you too."

Finally they reveal each other the feelings that have been stored all this time. Making relief in each other's hearts.

"You don't hate me after you know everything?" ask Rangga.

"You think I can still hate you after seeing the contents of your room?" ameera said, laughing.

Rangga breathed a sigh of relief, but there was a slight feeling of embarrassment because Ameera had seen the contents of her room. "It must be the stubborn Dina who invited you to see my room right?"

Ameera answered with a nod of her head.

"Now you must be happy, you have a husband who loves you. I know you've started to love her too, right?" rangga said later. She could see there was love in Ameera's eyes for her husband.

"Yes, man so my events managed to make me fall in love for the second time. I didn't like it before. I don't know why I'm so fucking in it now."

Rangga chuckled, he felt relieved if Ameera already had the same feelings as Ozan. Means his promise to Ameera's father can already be said to be paid off.

"Now it's your duty to be a good wife to her. You know Ameera, Ozan sacrificed for you. He made up for his guilt for feeling he was the cause of your father's death. That's not his fault."

"And your duty now, pay your guilt to Dina. Redeem your actions that hurt him and ignore him all this time." said Ameera.

"Alright, we agree." said Rangga.

"You know, we're not meant to be a soul mate that's not your bad luck, you know. It's your luck, you have the choice of a perfect Dina. She's a beautiful, mature and gentle girl. You should feel sorry for the man who became my husband."

"Mahaha..." Rangga laughed heartily at how troublesome Ozan was to face the bar-barred Ameera. The girl never even hesitated to beat up anyone who annoyed her. Including Rangga who was full with Ameera's tantrums.

"I can imagine how you beat him up on your first night, haha...."

Instantly Ameera's face reddened, Rangga's guess was very precise. Ameera did beat up Ozan when she was about to touch him for the first time. Outraged by Rangga's frontal speech, Ameera threw her fist at Rangga's arm. No matter the situation of Rangga who is still very weak.

"Aauuhhhhh sick.."

"Just be wild. Don't imagine that part." snapped Ameera.

Instead of stopping his laughter, Rangga laughed even more so until it made his chest hurt.

They finally agreed they would live their lives better. Rangga will open his heart wide to Dina. And Ameera will try to be a good wife to Ozan.

After a long conversation, Rangga then fell asleep with Ameera's hand.

There was not even the slightest bit of grudge in Ameera's heart for everything that happened to her because of Hendri's actions. Rangga's love for him that flows like a river can wash away all his feelings of anger and disappointment at his best friend's father.

Flashback off

And this is where Ameera is now. In the warm embrace of the man who became her husband. He has promised to live his life loving Ozan until death do them part.
