“Sudden attack!”
“Do not let them pass!”
Shouts after shouts could be heard at the Southern gate of Wu Kingdom. The enemy troops who had taken control of the gate were startled by a surprise attack from Chen Long's entourage.
A man who was standing on top of the gate to monitor the state outside the capital quickly turned around to hear the commotion below. Although his body size was shorter than the other meadow warriors, the man gave off an extremely dangerous and domineering aura. His bright brown bead was fondling Chen Long's figure, sending a murderous gaze so cold.
Contrary to the man's calm demeanor, another man by his side looked panicked. “Chairman, if left alone, then the other brother will die in vain!” yells.
Nanhan Ding, that short-bodied man with a domineering aura, glanced at his representative. “What are you so panicked about? As long as they can take down at least one enemy, it means they will not die in vain,” he explained. “Again, if they die in vain, it means they are useless.”
As part of the Nanhan tribe, the prairie warriors should know that strength is everything. If they die here, it's because they're weak. Therefore, even without the Chairman's orders, their spirit to take down the enemy remained blazing.
“Stop those bedeb*h that Wu!” exclaim one of Nanhan's soldiers.
Since starting the attack first, Chen Long's side had managed to take down several enemies. Even when now their existence had been known, Chen Long was not worried. The people he was carrying right now were the best people from the Chen Family army, and even though he did not know if he would survive, he did, but the deputy general was confident that at least one of his subordinates would make it through.
Beyond the advantage of being the first attacker, Chen Long's entourage also had other advantages; all members of his army rode. Not only was the enemy difficult to land an attack, but those Wu soldiers could also easily break through enemy defenses, especially since the Eastern gate was wide open.
While he was busy taking down the opponent, Chen Long suddenly heard a high whistle in the middle of the war. Hearing the whistle, the deputy general and the other Wu soldiers smiled widely.
The whistle has one meaning, “I made it through!”
Although there was already one person who managed to pass by, but the other Wu soldiers also did not want to waste their lives. With the motivation getting smoldering, they began to take down the enemies who tried to block.
When Chen Long managed to take down his umpteenth enemy, he began to spur his horse to pass through the capital gate. However, suddenly one of the enemy soldiers exclaimed, “Tak I will not let you pass!” The meadow soldier threw his machete at the foot of the horse that the vice general Wu was riding on.
The horse's hull sounded loud and heartbreaking, it was followed by a loud bang caused by the horse's body hitting hard into the ground. The voice made some of Wu's soldiers turn their heads, surprised to see that the victims of the attack were their deputy generals.
“Vice General!” Hongchen—the first person to make it past the enemy's defensive line— shouted loudly when he saw the prairie warriors start approaching Chen Long.
Luckily Chen Long's martial arts were quite formidable, before his horse fell down and clamped down on him, he jumped away from his horse and landed safely on the ground. “Go!” he shouted while fending off the attack carried out by one of Nanhan's soldiers.
“Tapi—!”
“Go!” chen Long growled while slashing the neck of his enemy without mercy.
Hongchen clenched his hands. However, the fact that he is the first person and probably the only— who managed to escape limits the choices he has. Coupled with what Chen Long had said just a moment ago, Hongchen had no other choice but to return to spur his horse to leave the capital's gate.
Messages must be delivered for the sake of the Wu Kingdom's survival.
Seeing this, Nanhan Ding smirked. “Excellent, admirable determination, even lives are meaningless as long as obligations can be fulfilled,” his praise that inexplicably sounds more to ridicule. Then, he stretched his right hand towards his representative. “Busurku,” he said briefly. Without waiting for long, Nanhan Ding's deputy immediately ordered one of the soldiers to give the bow to the general.
After receiving his bow, Nanhan Ding grabbed one arrow, then aimed at his target—Hongchen. The muscles in his hand tightened as he pulled the bowstring back, and as soon as he let go of his grip, the wind was split apart by an arrow that shot fiercely towards Hongchen.
With his hearing ability that was above that of an ordinary person, Chen Long caught the whistling sound of an arrow that had just slipped from its bow. While resisting the attacks of enemy soldiers, he shouted loudly, “Hongchen! Arrow!” The hope at that time was only one, that Hongchen was able to hear his voice.
Unfortunately, with all the commotion going on and the distance adrift, Hongchen was completely unable to hear the warning given by Chen Long. He was only focused on one thing, which was spurring his horse to immediately leave the capital area and reach his destination—Kingdom Shi.
Seeing that Nanhan Ding's arrow had not managed to reach his target, Chen Long smiled triumphantly. Not only that, whistles after another whistle began to be heard, indicating that most of his troops had passed. This suggested that the possibility of Chen Qiang's emergency message arriving at Shi was enormous. Even when he fell here, Chen Long no longer had any regrets.
Three whistles.
Four whistles.
Six.
It's ten!
‘Wait,’ Inner Chen Long suddenly. While thrusting his sword at one of the enemies, the man frowned. ‘How can others pass so easily?’ His eyes swept a glance around, realizing that the number of people surrounding him was becoming more and more numerous. ‘The trick they did to me could have them use again to another, his inner’. ‘Then, why don't they do that?’
If the enemy soldiers were to target the horses that Wu's troops were riding, then it would obviously make it harder for Chen Long's subordinates to pass through the gate defenses. Didn't Nanhan Ding realize that the more people passed by, the more likely reinforcements would come from Shi? Why did he not seem to be trying so hard to hold back Chen Long's army?
Suddenly, Chen Long realized something. ‘Why don't they send a riding warrior to chase!?’
In that instant, the deafening sound of a trumpet could be heard. Following that voice, all the enemy soldiers who had once surrounded Chen Long separated, they stopped attacking the deputy general. This made Chen Long confused, and he began to look to the right and to the left with caution.
“What's ..?” Chen Long could not help but mutter. He had absolutely no idea what was really going on at this moment.
By the way his siege was split, Chen Long's gaze was naturally directed to one place—outside the gate. The man could see from a distance that most of his subordinates were speeding horses towards the forest, Hongchen leading in the front row.
Since no one was holding him back, Chen Long swiftly dashed out of the gate. The enemy gave him a chance to leave, so why did he stay and waste the opportunity, didn't he?
Seeing the figure of Chen Long running away from the capital's gate, Nanhan Ding put a grin on his face, his eyes radiant looking very excited. Then, his gaze shifted to the Wu army led by Hongchen.
As the last soldier Chen Long passed the arrow that stuck in the ground—the arrow that was previously directed to Hongchen—Nanhan Ding shouted, “Now!” As soon as the order was dropped, the trumpet again sounded loudly.
Suddenly, the tip of Chen Long's gaze found the emergence of light spots from within the forest. Seeing this, his expression instantly turned bad and he shouted, “Back!” He made some of his subordinates turn a glance with a puzzled face. However, those at the front could not hear him at all. “Hongchen, back! This jebak—”
Not long had Chen Long finished his words, hundreds of arrows shot out from within the forest and rained down on his troops. Without mercy, the arrows pierced through the bodies of every warrior of the Wu Kingdom, causing some to instantly fall to the ground with a terrifying bone crack.
Chen Long's eyes enlarged, his legs that were still galloping slowly slowed down. He stared one by one his subordinates fell down from the horse, and Hongchen's figure who was in the front row.
As someone in the front row, Hongchen was the first to receive an attack. Besides, he could not avoid it at all. Not only his body, but his head also became a place where a number of arrows live. Hongchen's body that had become a mere lump of flesh started to tilt to the side, and a loud bang sounded as his body met the ground.
That horrifying sight made Chen Long fall to the ground. “Ah ..” His throat was dry, his breathing became very tight. “Hongchen ..”.
Chen Long swept the scenery in front of him. Those who a moment ago still had time to shout excitedly, now no longer make a sound. The people who were part of his army, the people who almost daily spent time with him became the buttresses of the kingdom, all of them died.
“Everything ...,” Chen Long's voice vibrates. The deputy general's heart skipped a beat, his eyes widening from the gathered tears. ‘Kita ... failed?’ Chen Long's two hands touched both sides of his head, trying to cover his ears would be the noises that started to disturb his mind. The sound of the crack was creeping through his ears, a sound produced by the destruction of his sanity. “AHH!!”
