The Phoenix Reborn Book II

The Phoenix Reborn Book II
Chapter 20 Isolating the Huang Family

Not wanting to talk much more just to gossip the prince before him, Liang Fenghong finally said, “Easy trust your mother is a spy from Li Guifei.” This guy likes to change the subject so harshly. However, this rough topic change was indeed necessary.

Wang Junsi who had been pensive after hearing Liang Fenghong's chattering immediately went wide. “What?” Horror emanated from the Fourth Prince's expression. “What do you mean by that?” He took one step forward reflexively. Seen from the radiance of his eyes that he was so worried about his mother's condition.

Liang Fenghong took a breath. He then told about Eunuch Xia to Wang Junsi, how the man tried to poison Huang Yan’an with Ku Xingren. This made the Fourth Prince very surprised, even to the point of doubting the truth of Liang Fenghong's words.

“Easy Xia? How is it possible?” Wang Junsi's blue bead twitched as if searching for the strangeness of Eunuch Xia's attitude every time they met. But he got nothing. “Easy Xia has been following my mother for many years ...”

Once the Young Master Liang explained that the information was obtained from Huang Miaoling, Wang Junsi was no longer able to dodge and could only swallow the reality completely. The Fourth Prince's hand clenched firmly, lamenting the fact that it was not him who took the traitor's life himself.

Were it not for Huang Miaoling briefly recounting Eunuch Xia's involvement and the Death Troop, Liang Fenghong probably wouldn't have known about this either. Therefore, he was not surprised that Wang Junsi himself did not know about the existence of this traitor named Eunuch Xia.

“It can be said that we are newcomers to this old game,” Liang Fenghong said in a deep voice. “We have already passed the chess laying period on the game board.” He continued, “Do not be so surprised if you are not aware of the existence of traitors in the stronghold of old players.” His eyebrows clutched, clouding the expression on his face, but did not diminish the good looks the man had. ‘It is difficult to fully understand ...’

In the Wu kingdom chess game, there were obviously two large opposing camps, the stronghold of Empress Dowager He and the stronghold of Emperor Huatai. Each of the camps knew about the weaknesses and advantages of their opponents, they were so understanding of each other that no one was able to use spies to attack the opponent. All they can do with spies is watch the enemy's movements until finally a war that is so open occurs in the form of rebellion.

When compared to the Wu kingdom, then the Shi kingdom chess game was so messy. Whether there are how many camps present to play on board, resulting in no clarity about who the enemy and who friends. Therefore, friends today can be enemies in tomorrow, and vice versa.

Nothing is certain.

Liang Fenghong put his thoughts aside and said, “As long as we are not in Shi kingdom, the time in this place does not stop.” I don't know what the purpose is to say something so clearly known to everyone. “When news of our victory in the kingdom of Wu arrived at Shi kingdom, the enemy must have prepared a plan to welcome us, especially the two people who were at that time the most prominent in the entire kingdom.”

“Two?” Wang Junsi knitted his brows.

“You and Ling’er,” Liang Fenghong replied. Then, he raised his right eyebrow, this time really questioning the intelligence of the man before him. “Do you think everyone knows that Wang Chengliu is involved in working with you and the Zhou kingdom to help the Wu kingdom?” His expression slowly turned serious when he realized that Wang Junsi did not know the truth that only Emperor Weixin knew of Wang Chengliu's involvement before the banquet last night. “Therefore, Wang Junsi, I told you before. Your sixth sister is a very dangerous person.”.

“You mean ...” Wang Junsi did not dare to finish his words when his brain quickly connected one thread with another.

Liang Fenghong nodded his head, grateful his interlocutor finally realized what he was talking about. The Young Master Liang began, “Removing your mother with the hands of Li Guifei thirsting for vengeance, it weakens the royal family's relationship with the Huang family. Borrowing Wang Wuyu's hand to unseat you from the rivalry of obtaining a marriage bond with the Wu kingdom, it would weaken the support that Emperor Huatai was able to provide.” Liang Fenghong's hand suddenly clenched. “Then, thwarting my marriage and Ling’er, it will cause a misunderstanding between Liang and Huang. All of that will end in isolating yourself and the Huang family from any outside help.”

Wang Junsi's eyes trembled realizing that the most terrifying person on Shi's royal game board was that one reserved figure. “Today's incident was a plan ... to bury me .. and the Huang family?”

Huang Miaoling who had waited for so long inside the room became increasingly impatient as the seconds passed. The mask of tranquility he used to use slowly faded away and gave off an impatient expression on the surface of his face. This made Wu Meilan who was watching her slightly smile helplessly.

“Junzhu, are you really okay?” wu Meilan said in the end, trying to divert Huang Miaoling from his annoyance.

Wu Meilan was a little surprised by Huang Miaoling's question, he thought that the girl should have known about what happened. Wasn't it said by Liang Fenghong that the girl was fully conscious throughout the incident, but just couldn't move? If it was true, with Huang Miaoling's martial power improving his sense ability, he should be able to hear well the conversation that was happening, right?

However, no matter what he expected, questions had been raised, and Wu Meilan had to answer. The princess also explained about Chenxiao's arrival which led to Wang Chengliu's arrival. There was not the slightest thing that Wu Meilan missed, signaling that in such a tense state, the Princess of Wu kingdom was able to maintain her awareness and thoroughness.

As Wu Meilan recounted what had happened, Huang Miaoling's gaze darkened slightly. The suspicion of Princess Wu was not wrong, Huang Miaoling already knew about what happened because he could hear clearly about the conversation that occurred and thought about the movements everyone took. However, he had another purpose to ask Princess Wu again this matter.

‘Expression .. his memory of every sentence the man uttered ....’ A glimmer of worry emanated from Huang Miaoling's sight. ‘Wang Chengliu! How dare you!’ cry Huang Miaoling while grinding his teeth.

Although his heart was so chaotic, Huang Miaoling still showed a calm expression in front of Wu Meilan. At the end of the story, the First Miss Huang even thanked him with a smile on her face.

“Mr Princess, when do you plan to choose?”

Huang Miaoling's short question this time made Wu Meilan dumbfounded. The princess was not astonished at the confusion regarding First Miss Huang's intentions, but rather surprised that the question came so suddenly.

After a few seconds passed, the Princess smiled awkwardly. “Why did Junzhu ask this suddenly?”

“Because I started to feel that the Princess had thought of choosing the Sixth Prince.”

In that instant, Wu Meilan was dumbstruck. He stared at Huang Miaoling for a very long time. As Wu Meilan was able to regain his voice and control over his body, the girl asked, “What made Junzhu think so?” Horror on his face.

Huang Miaoling was silent for a moment before finally sighing. The girl poured tea for Wu Meilan, making the princess come back shocked by his actions. “Please yourself first, Princess,”, said First Miss Huang as she offered the Princess a cup of tea.

“Ah ..” A red hue appeared on Wu Meilan's face when he heard the girl's speech before him. He grabbed the cup thrust by Huang Miaoling and hugged the cup with his palm, trying to calm himself down.

“Mr Princess, you fell into a trap,” Huang Miaoling said as he poured himself some tea.

“Trap?” Wu Meilan repeated the speech of the girl before him.

Huang Miaoling's gaze did not shift from the teacup before him, his eyes noticing his reflection on the surface of the tea beginning to calm down. After all this time, Huang Miaoling still could not believe that the time he had to face the ghosts from his past would come so quickly.

“What makes something considered interesting by someone?” huang Miaoling asked as he raised his gaze to Wu Meilan. He did not wait long before finally answering, “The answer is the difference, Mr. Princess.”
