The Phoenix Reborn Book II
Chapter 119 Qiongpo Di and the Rebel Troops

“We have to go through the back lane!” yelled Chen Long while holding his painful waist.

Liang Jian glanced down, then turned his back when he found that there was a red stain on his lover's body. “You're open!” hissing with a face of grief.

“I'm fine,” Chen Long replied quickly while forcing a smile. “Come, we have to go soon!”

Liang Jian immediately approached Yun Xia and clasped his hand, “Come, Mother.” He also did not forget to hint at Wu Meilan to follow him. “Mr Princess, come.”

The four people had just wanted to leave the building when they heard the sound of an exclamation, “Deputy General!”

Everyone turned their heads and found Mudan along with a number of Lianhua Yuan guards approaching. Behind him, Wang Zhengyi's figure could be seen walking side by side with Wang Qiuhua, his face looking pale. Meanwhile, A Ling—candidate escort of the crown prince— faithfully stood guard in the rear row with the rest of Lianhua Yuan's forces.

“What happened?” chen Long asked, coincidentally also aware of the existence of quite a severe wound on the crown prince's arm of Shi Kingdom. “What did Wang Chengliu manage to find us?”

Mudan put on a gloomy face and nodded his head. “Minister Huang is leading the remaining troops to head off.” He found Chen Long's gaze swaying the wound that Wang Zhengyi had suffered. “There were some soldiers from the Death Squad who sneaked in and attempted to injure Princess Qiuhua,” he explained as he glanced at Chen Long's re-opened wounds.

Chen Long did not say anything more and nodded his head. “We have to go,” he said. “There was one who had sneaked here,” he explained while pointing to the soldier who was lying lifeless on the ground. “She can enter, means the others will also be soon after.”

“What about the other royal families? What about Emperor Shi?” wu Meilan chirped with a confused face, but she still ran after Chen Long and the others.

Wang Qiuhua replaced Mudan to answer, “They will soon follow.” The girl's forehead wrinkled, showing concern. “At the very least, that's what Investigator Rong promised me,” Wang Qiuhua explained, remembering how Rong Gui stressed that his existence would instead endanger his mother, father, and grandmother.

As they ran, Wang Zhengyi racked his brain. He had just woken up today and the matter had already so quickly approached, he had not been given a chance to think clearly at all.

However, there was one thing that bothered him; where did most of the population of Qiongpo Di go?

“Qiongpo Di is a settlement of beggars and outcasts. From the financial ministry's annual report, I can confirm the number of residents of this place is not small, Wang Zhengyi's inner’. His forehead was wrinkled, feeling something strange. ‘Where did those residents go?’ tanyanya, realizing that since waking up, she had only seen a handful of people who were truly citizens of Qiongpo Di.

As if having the same thought as Wang Zhengyi, Wu Meilan suddenly asked, “What will happen to the residents of this place if the Sixth Prince's forces manage to break through the defense of Minister Huang?” His eyes swept the scenery around, occasionally met with the view of a number of residents who were inside the house, not knowing what the chaos was going on.

At this moment, Mudan snorted with a laugh, accidentally giving up control of his emotions— startling everyone. The girl's face was flat again as she said, “Mr Princess, resident Qiongpo Di is the last thing you need to worry about.”

Everyone looked at Mudan wondering, wanting to know the answer.

“Everyone thought that the meaning of Qiongpo Di was a slum, so it was no wonder how this place accommodated the outcast residents,” Mudan began to explain. “However, when traced other meanings, you can find other meanings of the name.”

Hearing this, everyone's minds immediately raced for answers. Wang Qiuhua muttered, “Qiong .. Po .... In?” Then, he's wide-eyed. “Wait, you couldn't possibly mean to say—”

“Qiongpo Di, a loner capable of destroying the earth.” Wang Zhengyi's gaze looked dark and gloomy, but he forced himself to say, “They are a group of rebels who would not hesitate to kill the royal family if they felt it was necessary.”

Chen Long was shocked to hear that. ‘Rebel forces?’

No, it was not the existence of the rebel forces that shocked Chen Long. After all, every kingdom must have such a group. Only, what was more questioned by the vice general of the Kingdom of Wu was .. how the troops were willing to help the royal family to occupy this place!

While Wang Qiuhua was worrying about Rong Gui's identity, Wang Zhengyi was thinking about another matter. ‘Huang Miaoling knows the identity of Rong Gui as a resident of Qiongpo Di. That way, does he also know about Qiongpo Di which is the base of the rebel forces?!’ There was a little anger in him. ‘Don't he know this puts the life of the royal family at risk?!’

Mudan could feel the emotions of those two descendants of the Shi Royal family, but he did not say anything. The situation was already like this, he could not spare his focus anymore for such an insignificant matter as explaining. The most important thing now is to take these people away.

“We are almost there,” said Mudan when the destination was already visible.

Hearing this, Liang Jian wrinkled. “Mudan, it's a dead end,” he said, voicing the contents of everyone's minds.

“No,” Mudan replied as he stopped before the great wall that bounded the end of Qiongpo Di road with the outside world, a place that was no longer part of the capital city of Zhongcheng, but rather a wilderness. “This is our way out,” obviously the girl while sweeping the rough plains of the wall with her palm.

Everyone looked at Mudan blankly and confusedly, feeling that the girl was saying something beyond common sense.

Although Chen Long also had time to say that they had to go using the back road, but honestly he did not know what is meant by ‘lane back’. He had only followed Mudan's earlier message to bring Wu Meilan into the back lane in case something happened. Therefore, seeing Mudan groaning at Zhongcheng's great wall, he could only stare with a silly expression.

“Ah!”

Suddenly, Mudan exclaimed and put on a shocked face, startling everyone. The girl then pushed the part of the wall with both hands.

Nothing happened.

“Mudan .. are you sure this is the place?” yun Xia asked, a little worried.

Mudan looked back and stared past the noble families. “You!” he shouted to A Ling who then blinked her eyes several times in confusion. “Yes, you. Quickly help me.”

A Ling flinched for a moment. Then, he quickly stepped over to Mudan. Arriving at the girl's side, A Ling followed the actions of Mudan who placed both his hands on the wall.

“Driven!”

Along with the exclamation, a small tremor began to be felt on A Ling's palm, making the man—and also everyone who saw him—fall. ‘This wall is moving!’ his inner.

The longer, the wall was pushed back. Then, a crack was slowly formed, letting a glimmer of light come through it. Everyone's views grew, not believing that there really was such a secret passage in a slum like this!

Wang Zhengyi sat down, ‘If it were not for Wang Chengliu's rebellion, I would never know about the rebel forces and also this secret passage.’ He realized that there were a number of things that he should be grateful for right now. However, as soon as Wang Zhengyi's gaze looked through the already sizable gap, his eyes widened and he shouted loudly, “Review!”

Wang Zhengyi's shout made Mudan raise his gaze, finding the existence of a sharp object approaching. However, his body was not able to react fast enough, and he could only contend softly in his heart, ‘They too.. knowing this path?’
