THE OUT OF MY LEAGUE

THE OUT OF MY LEAGUE
28

Victoria and Ethan's wedding preparations have been completed after a week since Victoria brought Lily her wedding invitation. And all that time Darren was acting strangely. When at home and they accidentally cross paths, Darren is always seen to refrain from approaching Lily and talking to her. Or when breakfast, he would rush and reluctantly look Lily in the eye. All the moves are suspicious.

Initially Lily thought, Darren might be thinking a lot and did not want to be disturbed for a moment. However, one time Lily found Darren in a hurry to receive a phone call and refused to talk nearby, she instead chose to go into his office and not go out until midnight.

In the end Lily chose to be quiet and let go, she had always been like that. Though Darren expects Lily to beg him not to silence him, or beg for attention. But it was not, so it made Darren on the other hand feel his actions had no effect on the woman

But tonight is finally here; Darren, Lily, and Mary are going to Victoria and Ethan's wedding reception. The role of the cold man is no longer run Darren, anyway tonight he looks different, always looks smiling and even opens the car door to let Lily in.

Lily felt funny for a moment, finally the silly behavior that made her privileged it back again.

“I've never taken you to a wedding, have I?” Darren finally made a sound, Lily turned her head and shook her head.

“You know, Lily ...”

Lily waited for Darren with sparkling eyes, one week for this man to finally call her right.

“What?”

“Have you heard anything about a flower throwing session at the wedding reception of the bride?”

“Toss flowers?”

Lily shook her head.

“Never. In our village, the wedding is carried out as usual, invite neighbors, and do the wedding as per custom.”

“Then you should know one thing about this flower-throwing session later, when the host announces the flower-throwing session, every single woman must come forward to catch the flowers the Bride throws.”

“Why?”

“For the woman who caught the flower has the good fortune to get married shortly after the Bride gets married.”

“Really?”

Darren nodded.

“Then I'll catch it for us.”

Lily giggled, Darren smiled as he grabbed Lily's hand to hold.

Their time was up when the car reached the wedding hall. Lily had never been to a wedding reception this grand before, even the guests had to walk on the red carpet, the car was parked by an attendant in front of the building, not to mention the guests who look elegant and glamorous. Remind Lily not to act out of contention during the party, or not, she should bear the shame of being laughed at!

A gate like the palace gates of the kings opened and the beautiful sight of dozens of crystal butterflies hanging overhead greeted them. Mary, who was in her father's arms, seemed to be trying to grab the butterfly, making the female guest walking behind them giggle.

After a turn, a large hall again took half Lily's breath. So magnificent that thousands of flowers cling to everywhere. The chairs are neatly arranged with each of the dozens of candles on the table displaying a beautiful impression. As Victoria said, the theme of the party will be purple, and many guests also wear matching colored clothes. Looks like tonight they're bathed in purple.

Darren, Lily, and Mary were seated on chairs where each guest's name was placed on the table. Each round table contains 10 seats and Darren's table is currently only filled with 5 people. Darren graciously greeted the people he knew while Lily sat down and smiled at anyone who smiled at him.

One by one the seats were filled with invited guests, a little more the event began, and just then Lily noticed Mike's whereabouts not far from the table she was sitting on. Mike with a woman, if not wrong he was the woman he met while in the office cafeteria at that time. There was also Mike's father and mother. It looks like they are close to the groom's family, considering they are well-received by Mike's parents.

Mike felt himself being noticed, when his gaze met with Lily who was behind the flowers between the many candles on the table, he hoped that the woman would not smile at him. Mike doesn't want his heart to get jealous. Maybe because the audience of that smile is now Darren, not himself.

However, Lily had always been herself, smiling towards anyone with her sweetness. Mike took a breath with a single pull, then he forgot to throw it away. Breath choked. That smile might be nothing to Lily, just a formality. But for Mike, that's a hope.

Don't give me hope! His heart is trying to be firm.

Mike pressed his jaw and threw his face away. He knows it's wrong, just that for now Mike wishes Lily understood.

But Lily didn't catch any of it. He's too insensitive. And to coincide with Mike who was a waste of face, Lily's attention was immediately distracted by the MC who appeared with his frenzy to lead this reception event to a festive one.

Decades later the Bride finally came into the room, greeted with happy applause from all the guests, congratulating them as they passed the tables.

One by one the menu is issued, all guests eat it while some invited guests who have talented children in the field of music show their skills. Tonight's show is like a classic art show, making Lily feel like a classy woman.

Hours are running out with plenty of shows and fun games for both brides along with guests. And as the game becomes more intimate, Lily who had been a connoisseur of the show, not one bit thought it would be this sweet when she and Darren were suddenly appointed to take the stage.

The MCs then explain the game after Darren and Lily-surprisingly there was Mike and Ploy also-being on stage. 5 Couples including the Bride are also required to play the game of Pocky. A piece of Pocky will be spent to be the smallest bite, and whoever bites the smallest and thinnest will get each gold bar weighing 1000 grams. The audience became increasingly boisterous when they heard the gift offered. And Lily couldn't help but glare in this kind of situation.

1000 grams?! Just be right!

While a piece of Pocky was being shared with the participants, Darren whispered, “If you're afraid, just stay put, I'll move.”

Lily blinked. He did not understand why he was told to be quiet. But suddenly his body stiffened when the game began, his body completely motionless.

The boisterous cries of the audience became the background, but Lily could only stand on that stage while watching Darren's lips approach hers.

How'this?!

Please! Please! Don't get hit!

The cup!

Arrkkk!

Lily staggered back, Darren immediately grabbed her catch. The man smiled amusedly.

Lily blinked to wake up, and only realized the screams, laughter, and disappointment of the fans who were crazy. Either it's because both Brides are instead spending their Pocky and continue kissing, or because they see Lily who staggered after her lips were smitten, or because Mike who did not bite her Pocky until it touched Ploy's lips.

Pocky from the participants was immediately gathered for assessment. After a calculation that was deliberately made tense-not including with the bride because they instead spent it-finally gold bars that became the prize of this game fell on Darren and Lily.

The entire audience applauded as each 1000-gram gold bullion was handed over to the two directly.

Lily still can't believe she won. Only with Pocky's capital to eat, overnight he became a millionaire. Rich people are different! Gifting something of this magnitude on her wedding day without calculation.

After that, the event continued and food and drinks did not stop being served. Each plate contains a dish as small as an upil, once a swallow is curious, which is why Lily and Mary focus more on eating than observing the event in progress. Even when the flower throwing event arrived, Lily had to be shocked first by Darren who was pinching his arm earlier.

Lily turned, “What's up?”

Darren pointed at Victoria. “The flower throwing session.”

Lily blinked. Ah, that's right too!

Lily immediately stood up and joined a small run with other female guests who were clearly still single and wanted to get married quickly at their age which was a little more going to run out of youth. The MCs cheered for the women to come together and not push each other. Since the last one arrived, Lily stood alone behind.

Darren quietly stood up from his chair, coming to stand from a distance away. When Victoria picked up the flower that the MC had given her, her gaze locked onto Darren for a moment, the woman nodded and Darren replied as well.

MC then started counting when Victoria started to turn her back on the guests, “We started, yaaa! Count them all together!

One!

Two!

Three!”

Victoria throws it all the way, trying to get at least the flower to Darren's hands.

All the eyes of the women below followed the direction of the flowers that were thrown past them. When everyone looked back and was about to see who got it, suddenly everyone was shocked.

Apparently, with Darren's tall body standing back there, and slightly jumping up to grab it, he managed to get the bouquet. At first the guests who were spelled felt astonished why even the man who got it. But when Darren stepped closer to Lily and knelt before her, almost everyone in the room gaped in surprise. Feeling lost and at a loss for words.

Lily took it in embarrassment as all the attention was on her. Even the entire room lights were only highlighting the two of them.

After that Darren took out a ring box from his suit pocket and opened it in front of Lily. The sensitive MC is coming over to hold the mic towards Darren, who will do something big in his life.

A proposal at a wedding reception.

Darren smiled broadly. “I got the flowers, Lily. Are you happy?”

Lily nodded sweetly.

"Then allow me to say this; Lily, will you be my companion until at some point in time this body is no longer in the body, Lily, and sharing love and affection with me for a lifetime?"

A clear drop falls over the cheek without being able to be weaved. Lily rubbed her cheek. There were no words that could be spoken to voice his happiness at this moment. Darren actually proposed to her. Really proposed to him. He proved what he said, and nothing was happier when he found out that this was not a dream.

Meanwhile, the MCs anxiously voiced the audience to shout together.

"Thank you!"

"Thank you!"

“RECEIVED!"

Lily circulated her gaze all over, everyone supporting her. And when her eyes met Mike's, Lily watched the man clap his hands with tears as if held back. But it wasn't tears, because once Lily looked at her, Mike tried not to show her the slightest bit of sadness. Makes him look like a heartbroken man trying hard.

Lily did not let herself stare any longer, because there was a heart she had to give certainty with the answer, "Yes, I'm willing!"

The whole guest cheered with his burning passion, the proposal was something you could not refuse to watch, and being part of it tonight was something unforgettable.

As Darren sets out to stand up and pull Lily in his arms, thousands of gold confetti explode raining down on them like a big celebration from up there. The women who were still standing behind them cheerfully danced and clapped under him.

Oh my God, God probably knows better how happy Lily is right now.
