THE OUT OF MY LEAGUE

What mistake?

The man was almost crazy to think about it after Lily left like that.

"Why don't I remember anything?" Darren squeezed his hair, rubbed his face, then went back to thinking.

Geck.

Geck.

Geck.

The sound of knocking on the door made Darren aware. "Ah, yes! Login."

The door opened, and Ophelia entered the room. The woman stepped closer and stopped at the side of the sofa.

"What's calling me, sir?"

"Sit down first" Darren let me know.

After Ophelia sat down, Darren helped fix her seat, approaching as if to tell her a secret.

"Did you take me home last night?"

Being asked so subconsciously made Ophelia glare perfectly. This boss isn't planning on getting angry, is he?

"Anu .. mmm, actually sir so. But because it looks like it's going to be raining heavily Mike's replacing me, sir. But, Sir! I'm not the one who asked, Mike himself said he'd drive you."

Darren nodded. "Yes, yeah, yeah-but that's not what I want to know. You think you know what I did when Mike took me home?"

"Byeah, Sir! I've already gone home first. I know what Mike and Dad did after that."

Darren blinked innocently. "G ..." He realized his stupidity. "Yes too, yeah." Then chuckle wryly.

But Ophelia did not respond, she seemed still confused in her seat; either she thought she would be interrogated and then romped or just asked and then finished, because he also actually has a lot of work to do now.

"Mmc ... Sir? I can go yet?"

"Is there a lot of work?"

Much, Sir. So many, to the point of fainting.

Ophelia smiled as she was asked. "Lumayan, sir."

"Where is it with Diana?"

Eh? Ophelia suddenly thought. He is a secretary. Diana was a deputy secretary. So there should be more Ophelia.

"More of me anyway, sir. What's the matter?"

"Then please tell Diana to pick up Mary at her school and take her to my office."

"Good, sir."

"Yes, you can go out."

Yeah, this is coming out, too, sir.

Ophelia smiled again, then bowed for a moment before exiting her boss room.

...----------------...

That night Mike went home to his apartment. Since this morning he brought Lily back and had to leave her again because the work-Mike affair was not at all calm.

"I'm home!"

Accustomed to living alone since its existence in America, only this time Mike's lips itch when saying it. Inevitably yes because there are new residents in his apartment.

Inside, Lily greeted with a smile. He approached Mike and took his briefcase. It became a habit when he also served Darren. This habit may not be lost considering he has done it often.

While Mike himself was quite surprised to see Lily so pretty using a pink apron, and did not feel that the woman had already put down Mike's briefcase and served him a glass of orange juice.

"Lilly ..." After drinking, Mike calls Lily back to the kitchen. Suddenly he remembered what to do after coming home.

"I want to talk to you."

Lily smiled. "Ah .. but you have to have dinner first. I've already prepared it."

Mike nodded firmly. "I ate outside. And please don't serve me like this. I didn't let you stay just to be my servant. You know that, right?" His eyes suddenly looked seriously.

Lily was silent. "But I really did it because I wanted to. I'm not going to ask for anything in return either" he said, reassuring Mike.

"But I don't like it. And I forced. Please sit down because I want to talk to you."

Lily bit her lip. "Alright, but I have to clean up the kitchen first."

Mike nodded, and Lily immediately cleaned up the man's apartment kitchen quickly. Ready-to-eat foods can only be put in the refrigerator without being eaten. After that Lily returned to sit on the sofa, sideways facing Mike.

Lily was quite stubborn, considering Mike's mood suddenly turned serious at this time.

"Next ..." Mike started by thinking for a moment. "Sorry if I'm sassy. But I've been really nervous since this morning and wanted to ask you ... Actually, what happened between you two?"

Lily immediately averted her gaze, refusing to look Mike in the eye. "That's not a big deal, there's nothing to talk about."

Mike gnashing. Something inside her was convinced that Lily was lying. The woman even started to play her nails agitatedly.

"So you mean ... Your tears this morning wasn't a big deal?"

Lily was stunned, she spontaneously looked up at Mike.

Mike took a breath. "Lilly ..." Call gently. "I know women better than women themselves. You know, my mom was a tough lady. When he gets hurt, he says he's okay. But actually nothing is okay. And one day for the first time in my life, he was crying, but not for himself, but for a man. She was crying because she was disappointed. Disappointed about my father having a mistress wife." Mike chuckled for a moment. "Why do you think I'm willing to study in America, huh? Played a woman until she forgot herself? I'm sure you must have heard rumors about me at the office."

Mike now frowned, staring in Lily's iris seriously. "That's how I was raised. There are always misunderstandings in a family. And the ego is the biggest enemy why it never gets resolved."

Mike's eyes softened again, he sighed. "Do you know why I told you this? That's because I want you to be honest with yourself. I don't want to force you to explain everything, I just want to say, if by telling stories that make the burden on your back can disappear, why not? Although it can't change anything, but at least that way you don't have to keep your pain alone. Do you understand what I mean?"

Lily was caught in silence. He doesn't know why Mike had to go so far as to dig up the information Lily was trying to cover for herself.

Lily did not want the secret that started from the arrival of Victoria was revealed.

But something from Mike's words has made his tears triggered to come out.

Lily cried, put aside all her stifled grief.

"I'm not okay, Mike," he admitted.

Lily's back trembled withstanding the cries, she finally confessed.

Mike's heart was immediately attacked by pain and pity. He approached Lily and rubbed her back, calming her down.

"From the start I shouldn't have agreed to anything with Darren. I shouldn't have accepted the deal to be her pretended wife. Now, since it's too late, I don't know what to do."

Mike frowning. "What do you mean wife pretends? What's late?"

Lily as she pleased, she tried to muster up the courage to tell her everything from the beginning.

"From the beginning we were just pretending, Darren and I were not a married couple. All this was done to prevent Victoria from undermining the peace of Darren and his son. But more and more days, there was unknowingly a forbidden feeling growing on my chest. I like my employer, Mike. But I don't want him to know. That feeling of liking came out without me being able to control it. That feeling is forbidden. Darren's been so kind to me, I don't deserve to have more feelings for him."

Lily grew sobbing, so swift were her tears, so hurt she knew her love might clap one hand.

"Then that night, when you brought Darren home drunk, he. Besides my love, there's nothing bigger than my disappointment when he tried to harass me, Mike. He did what I hated most."

Lily couldn't stand it anymore, she couldn't tell me more about how despicable she was now. For now there is only Mike's shoulder as his backrest. The man let her cry there without the slightest interrupting her.

But anyway, as a man now, Mike could only clench his hand as it held his overwhelming anger.

All this time, when he was playing in bed with women who were ready to open their crotches for him, Mike knew they were doing it voluntarily without coercion.

But hearing Lily's story, her heart knew very well that some women valued their crown more than anything in the world. They are too holy to be desecrated. Too pure to be dirty.

And Mike knew there was something different about Lily from the start. Make a man like himself to be this semelancholy.

That night, as darkness envelops Bangkok, and the rain comes crashing down again, accompanying Lily's endless cries, Mike convinces himself to help Lily resolve her issues with Darren. Whether it should be using the roughest way in the world, Mike doesn't care, which he knows, Darren must kneel apologizing to Lily.
