Broken heart?
Mike felt it for the first time, for a woman he hadn't even met for a long time, for a woman whose world was fixed on only one man, and that was Darren.
Her feelings may not have been so deep, and knowing the fact that Lily liked Darren first certainly paved the way for her to let him down more, but still, she did, it might take some time to heal her broken heart.
That morning, like yesterday, Mike left for work and also had the opportunity to taste Lily's cuisine which turned out to be very good. Exactly home cooking that is always missed by regional children.
"I'm leaving!"
"Hm! Be careful!"
Lily's smile was the last thing Mike saw as soon as he closed his apartment door.
After that, during the trip to the office, he was no longer the self that remained calm during his time near Lily. He becomes someone else with one goal; to meet Darren to talk.
Once at the office, Darren's two assistants who usually come first can only throw glances at each other when Mike enters Darren's room without being friendly.
Ophelia who was more sensitive to the situation immediately followed into the room.
"Mmc ... Sir?"
Mike turned his head, he looked tense when sitting on the sofa, his look did not even show signs of the joking attitude that he often displayed.
"Mr McGold hasn't arrived yet, maybe in about 5 minutes."
"I'll wait."
Getting such a stern and cold answer for the first time, Ophelia immediately stepped out of the room. He's pretty goosebumps. The anger of quiet people, sometimes more terrible anger of humorous people. And this morning Ophelia had to experience that. It was a real nightmare.
"What's wrong?" Diana asked after Ophelia returned to her desk.
Ophelia pressed her shoulders. "Either. But Mike seems really mad."
He looked back at Darren's office door. Unsettling. No matter how annoying Darren was with his bossy attitude, he couldn't possibly make his employees come to the office early in the morning so angry. Moreover, Mike is not just any employee, his father is a shareholder in the company.
"Morning."
Ophelia was jumped from her job when her boss greeted her as usual. But this time something went wrong with Darren's look. He looks disheveled and unkempt. Why did so many strange things happen this morning?
"Morning," Ophelia and Diana retaliated simultaneously while looking at Darren's missing back behind the door.
In there, Darren is not quite aware of Mike's whereabouts, he walks lazily towards the desk and then takes off his shirt and hangs it.
Mike cleared his throat with a piercing glare towards his boss.
Darren. "What are you doing?"
"I want to talk."
Darren massaged the temple while closing his eyes. He looks fucked. "Later, I can't."
"I didn't ask your permission."
Realizing the coercive attitude, Darren blinked, then looked up. Staring for a moment Mike there with a frown. Slowly he leaned his shoulders on the back of the chair.
"alright. What do you want to talk about?"
"I'm just going to get to the point, you must be wondering where your beloved nanny is, right?" Mike smiled obliquely, so arrogant and arrogant.
Obviously he just wants to heat up Darren.
Darren who was sensitive to it immediately stared dislikefully.
"What do you really want to talk about?"
"What else if it wasn't about Lily."
"What do you mean?"
Mike rolled his eyeballs, it was exhausted with the patience he had. A second later he punched the glass table that was in front of him.
"Are you nuts! Yesterday, you made Lily cry! He even cried like a hopeless man. Don't you have a heart, huh? Or are you too stupid to realize?"
Darren did not react. He did not reply with a shout, let alone a rampage. He stared hard, so cloudy and lifeless.
"And why do you care so much about him? You're not even someone, why are you suddenly interested in other people's family affairs?"
Mike laughed, laughing bitterly.
"A Family?" Mike squinted. "To be exact; a fake Family, am I right?"
Darren did not reply for a long time, it seemed that he was quite surprised.
Darren looked back. "So you already know?"
"More than that."
"So, what do you really want?"
Mike shook his head in a bowed state, he could only chuckle. Her emotions were too big, her hatred so heavy, and she had to hold it back to make tears gather in her eyes.
Mike looked up again with tears in his eyes, tightened his jaw and hissed, "You should ask what Lily wants. Not what I want."
The sentence left a silence in the entire room, the sound that was reflected off was lost in the tensing atmosphere.
Then Mike continued, more like talking to himself, "I shouldn't have told you this from the start, and you'll never know. But anyway, I'd regret it later if I didn't say it--"
"What do you really want to talk about? Why tortuous?"
"Lily has felt for you, you idiot!" Mike snapped, he could not stand this human-shaped stupidity.
Darren froze in place, his irises not even moving a inch.
"Impossible," the word escaped his lips. "He ... He's been avoiding me lately."
Mike smiled in anguish. "Basic stupid! You think he'll say it out loud, huh? To Lily, in those eyes of yours, she's just a nanny. How could he possibly so clearly show his feelings!"
Only then did Darren understand. All the doubts in her heart, all the questions in her mind, turned out to be .. It turned out just because Lily had feelings for her.
"Ta, but ... How come?" Darren looked at sayu.
Mike looked at her in a dark tasteless manner. "You think to yourself, you idiot!" The hardship.
Darren swallowed the bitterness of that swearing. He was downcast to think for a moment, the fact just now had completely thrown his mind into disarray.
"What am I supposed to do?" Mumbled.
Mike frowning. "Why do you suddenly care so much about her feelings? You should just continue the game of being-your not-your-guy."
"Because I like her too," Darren replied weakly.
Again Mike rolled his eyes in disgust. "Great, just great." He clapped awkwardly. "Now, it's not just Lily who has feelings, it's like you're reciprocating feelings."
A second later Mike's gaze was blank. He may look arrogant on the outside, but far away there, tightness alone is not enough; he is desperate for an emptiness that eats away at his heart.
Why is reality so cruel?
Why is it always not up to expectations?
"Actually how do you know that Lily likes me?"
That question brought Mike's consciousness to the bottom of reality. He is still staring hard.
"Where else would it be if he didn't tell the story himself."
"News to you?"
Mike leaned his back on the shoulder of the sofa as he let out a long sigh.
"He's been staying at my apartment this whole time."
Darren immediately got out of his chair. So shocked by Lily's true existence. For days he was looking for that woman, and she was even in this man's apartment?!
Darren frowning. "What are you doing to him?"
Mike smiled in anguish. "You think?"
Let it go, just let Darren assume a no-no. Mike was eager to get the man's mentality distracted.
And sure enough, Darren who really didn't expect that answer spontaneously stepped furiously at Mike and pulled his collar so roughly.
Mike lifted from his seat and stared back at Darren uninterested.
"Say, what are you doing?!"
Mike tilted his head. Once again, that seductive slanted smile toyed with Darren's emotions.
"I should have asked, what did you do to her until I had to find her lying in the middle of the heavy rain that night!"
Mike pushed Darren's chest until the man stepped back. Darren's gaze was empty.
"That night? Whatchu mean?"
Mike rolled half his eyeballs. "Where I know. You remember yourself, you fool!"
Darren recalled. But nil. No matter how hard Darren tries, he really gets nothing.
Mike closed his eyes tightly while sighing heavily. He laughed bitterly. Never mind. Time is up just to explain. He doesn't even feel good anymore. Lily is not worth getting by a guy like Darren who only thinks about himself.
That way, Mike walked away.
"Wait!"
Mike stopped in place, silent and not turning around, waiting for what Darren would say.
"I ... I ... What exactly is going on? I really can't remember anything. You must know something, that night you drove me home."
Mike immediately frowned, he turned around slowly. "Then don't remember it, it'll be better for Lily."
Darren's eyes shook, starting to think a no-no. Actually he did not want to guess, but if it is true .. has something intimate happened?
As if getting the answer, Darren again stopped Mike who was now holding the doorknob, "Wait!"
Mike stopped again.
"Did I accidentally do something intimate to her?" Darren asked timidly. He himself knew he couldn't do it, but given that alcohol was the impetus for doing bad things, Darren became afraid that he had done nothing.
Instead of leaving the room, Mike slowly turned around clapping.
"Good, very good ... correct guess."
The seductive slanted smile had returned, mocking Darren. A split second later, he stopped in front of Darren's face, so close that their breaths clashed against each other, and the man's gaze no longer showed a flash of his joke. As before, Mike's anger that has been extinguished is now back on fire with savage.
"Then what are you going to do, huh?! Apologizing? Restore everything as it was? Or ... Bought back his trust with your tears of regret? Oh, it's a cliche."
Mike smiled as he pressed his jaw.
"If all of that could get him back home, I'm sure I can persuade him."
Mike laughed bitterly while nodding. "Well, okay .. do what you think is right and see if a jerk like you deserves a second chance."
Darren is not serious. "And if the opportunity did exist, would you let it go?"
Mike smiled. So Darren knows? Is it so obvious that Mike likes Lily?
Mike tilted his head. "We'll see."
That way, Mike breezed out of the room, hanging the atmosphere full of competition in the air, leaving Darren still too shocked by the facts he heard today.
...----------------...
That night Darren came home like yesterday. The house seems a little messy, there is a lot of chaos going on in the house considering Lily does not live with them anymore.
Finding and hiring a maid also feels very heavy for Darren. He doesn't have time for that. Finally Diana who was the target to take care of Mary, making her duties in the office must be brought to this house to work. Although her schedule started only when Mary was coming home from school, but still, her fatigue was second to none. But considering her salary was paid 4 times over, of course Mary could not refuse.
"Mary's asleep?"
Darren approached Diana who was sitting on the family couch and was busy with her laptop.
Checking the clock on the wall, Diana replied, "30 minutes ago."
Darren nodded. Secretly watching the woman, Diana looked utterly chaotic: her sleeves folded irregularly, her shirt collar stained, her hair tied profusely. It must be hard to take care of office work, clean the house, even take care of Mary.
Ah ... Darren sighed while leaning his back on the sofa.
How can Lily still look beautiful despite doing all the work at home this big?
Darren looked at the chandelier hanging over there with a meaningless, heartless, and tired gaze.
Diana peeked out from the tail of her eyes, "Sleeping boss?"
Darren blinked, then straightened his seat. "Ah .. no, no. I'm just thinking." He stood up straight from the sofa, "Then I go upstairs first, if you want to go home, put on my other car, but if you want to sleep, sleep in the guest room."
Diana smiled. "Ready, Boss!"
As soon as Darren arrived upstairs, he took the time to stop by his daughter's room.
The sound of doors rubbing against each other as soon as they opened, there was an adorable figure sleeping, so sound, so peaceful. The butterfly shadow of the sleeping lamp plays on the wall, spinning like beautiful dreams-Darren steps in slowly without making a rowdy, then sits on the lip of the bed.
Darren smiled weakly. "I'm sorry dad. I'm sorry I couldn't bring Lily to Mary." Tears gathered in the eye without him noticing. "But I promise, baby. I promise I'll bring Lily back to this house for Mary."
Darren's arms extended out to touch the hairdresser that was stuck to Mary's cheek, about to get rid of her from there. But how shocked the man was when he felt a heat as hot as embers touch his finger.
Darren gnashing, teggugu. A second later he pulled out the blanket that covered Mary, then checked her temperature, ranging from her forehead, neck, to her arms he felt.
Darren's heart is beating not playing. How'this? Why could it happen!
Swallowing a rough spit, Darren ran out of the room and shouted from upstairs, "Diana!"
Diana looked up as fast as lightning.
"Prepare the car, we're going to the hospital!"
Without waiting for a response, Darren returned to the room and sat down near his daughter, clasping her hands with a faint look.
"Darling ... Did you miss Lily that much?"
