THE OUT OF MY LEAGUE

THE OUT OF MY LEAGUE
13

Lily's dreaming.

The water around it sounds like the swirling waves on the beach. Water waves played before him blurryly.

Darkened.

Hollowly.

Lily was waiting for someone to help her. But no one came. Far away he saw Mary, the little girl who drowned and had to follow up to be saved. But what? They are both unsaved at the bottom of this water.

Lily's gaze slowly blurred as her breathing began to run out of supply. At the bottom of the surface there he watched the scorching morning sun enter through the water, Lily was afraid down here, she wanted to reach the light, but impossible. Until he finally closed his eyes.

...----------------...

“Hah ... Huh ... Hah.”

Lily flinched, then gasped for breath until her lungs thinned. His temples were in cold sweat, and his eyes immediately opened sharply.

The figure of the man who was next to her immediately got up from the chair to see Lily's state.

Lily thought it was Mike at first, but no, it was Darren. Darren tried not to panic, but failed. He carelessly called the doctor. Lily was having a nightmare.

A doctor rushed into the VIP room shortly afterwards. Darren immediately shifted to the other side of the bed to let the doctor check on Lily.

At that time Mike also woke up to hear the noise created by Darren. Waking up from his sleep on the sofa, he went to bed, both waiting for the doctor to finish.

“How are things, Doc?” Darren asked for the first time.

“Patients are okay. I recommend letting him rest longer because his fever is still high.”

Only then did Darren breathe a sigh of relief. “Good, Doc. Thank you.”

The doctor threw a smile and a nod before moving on from there. Darren immediately took his seat back at the side of the bed. He stared at Lily's sweaty face. Then take the tissue on the table and wipe away the sweat.

“Are you okay?”

Lily shook her head slowly, there was almost no energy.

“Did no one hurt?” It was Mike's turn to ask, he was sitting on the edge of the bed by Lily's feet.

Lily glanced at Mike and then shook her head. After that grab Darren's hand to give him the code on the water on the table. Darren immediately moved and woke Lily up to drink. When she finished, she waited for Lily to feel better.

Lily gulped her saliva rough after being given a drink. Staring at the ceiling of the room for a while, he finally turned his head and again tried to grab Darren's hand.

Darren who swiftly moved his body, felt Lily would whisper something.

“Mary ...” That's all he said.

Darren sat back in his chair and tried to digest what he meant, until he finally found him. “It's best not to worry about Mary first. He's a strong boy. Worry about yourself.”

Therefore, Darren sighed again. “He has a fever like you. I put her in the child's common room so she would be around children her age and not feel lonely. Now, you don't have to worry, okay?”

Long Lily responded, but she finally nodded.

Darren fixes Lily's blanket, raises it to the neckline and digs her side inside to wrap Lily's body tighter.

“Now sleep again, and don't worry, we are here looking after you.”

Lily finally turned her face towards the window, sleeping in that position was the most comfortable for her. Slowly her eyelids closed, really tired to stay conscious for a long time.

Darren leaned back in the chair, then turned to look at Mike. “You also just go back to sleep, I'll keep watch.”

But Mike glanced at his watch, then shook his head. “It's already 5am. I'm just gonna buy some coffee. You want?”

Darren shakes. If he drinks coffee this morning, he won't sleep until noon. Because in fact, he also needs to sleep after staying up all night in place of Mike.

...----------------...

At 9 a.m., when Darren was in the child's common room guarding the whining Mary, he was startled by the appearance of Victoria frantically rushing into the room in her eccentric dress, making the mothers of the children in their beds stare strangely and wonderfully.

Suddenly, Darren was approached by a vexation that appeared whenever the woman was around him.

Standing up from her seat after believing Mary was fast asleep, Darren hurriedly pulled Victoria out of the room towards the emergency stairway door.

“What are you doing here?” Darren asked in annoyance.

“I heard the news that Mary was in the hospital-how could she? What happened?”

“What do you care?” Reply Darren.

Victoria sighed, then massaged her temple. “Please don't be like this when Mary is sick. I just want to know how he is. That's it.”

Darren rolled his eyes lazily, then ruffled his waist while breathing out. “She was fine, a little fever last night, but nothing severe. Now that you know, can you leave now?”

Victoria blinked while throwing her face, her heart choked by Darren's increasingly parasitic behavior. Sighing deeply, Victoria tried to control her emotions.

“Can I see him for a moment? Just a little,” please.

Darren stared at the child's room across the street, then looked at Victoria again. “Cannot. She needs a quiet break-and try to at least wear proper clothes at the right time. You're not in a sircus.” Darren suddenly changes the topic by expressing his disturbed feelings by Victoria's excessive dressing style.

Meanwhile, Victoria had no idea what was wrong with her clothes. He glanced down; black leather boots, leather sepaha pants, white corset tops, and white knit arm sweaters. Nothing is wrong! Everything's in tune. And it certainly doesn't look like a circus performer.

Before Victoria could react. Darren had already waltzed away leaving her with an annoyed face.

Victoria ended up standing there like a fool. He could only exhale once more because his presence did not also make Darren accept him.
