The Unexpected Surprise

Naomi woke up to the morning sunlight that went straight into her hotel room, last night she slept without closing the curtains. He saved his phone after seeing the clock. As it was still early morning, Naomi took the time to eat a piece of bread and drink a glass of milk from the refrigerator. He turned on the television to accompany him to breakfast. After his breakfast was over he rushed to the bathroom to prepare himself for the meeting with Kubo this afternoon.

Today, Naomi decided to wear a short skirt and blue t-shirt. Wrapped in a white sweater. He decided to tie his hair for fear of overheating. He did not forget to wear his favorite white shoes. He remembered Kubo's message before leaving, that this project was done very casually. And the people he works with are not as formal as the company that used to work with Kubo. That's why the clothes Naomi had prepared for Kubo were also not some kind of shirt or suit. But more shirts and pants. As well as a pair of shoes and sandals to keep watch if Kubo does not want to wear shoes.

The first day of the meeting, Kubo chose the time after lunch because it arrived at night and in order to rest longer before returning to activities. Although using the plane, seven hours on the plane is not not exhausting. Many times Naomi stretched her body before actually deciding to get out of the hotel room.

"Meeting room? And has breakfast?" Naomi muttered as she saw the incoming direct message from Kubo who asked him to come down directly from the room to the meeting room. He remembered, last night Kubo talked about Naya.

Naomi's curiosity grew bigger, because this morning Kubo did not wake her up for breakfast with him. And this afternoon, the man seemed to know more than he did. Naomi had thought maybe Naya came to Jakarta specifically to meet Kubo, but Naya did not reply to her message since Naomi told her that they would come to Indonesia before leaving Japan.

He walked down a quiet hallway before reaching the door of a small meeting room with the name label of the company working on the project, without hesitation he opened the door after gently knocking it twice. All eyes were on her as Naomi stood on the doorstep, even Naomi pecked at the sight of the person in the room.

"Mas Iksan, Rio, Naya?" Naomi muttered in surprise.

Iksan stopped his presentation, followed by Rio who then stood up when he saw Naomi. Kubo pulls Naomi into the room. He smiled, followed by Naya who then shook her hand, then Iksan and Rio.

"This is Naya's replacement, my new secretary. He only worked for about a year with me in Japan. She is also native to Indonesia, just like Naya" Kubo said, introducing Naomi to Japanese.

"Ka, this is Naya's replacement. Kubo's new secretary in Japan. He has only been working for about a year, and is also native to Indonesia. Like Naya" Naya said, translating Kubo's words.

As if awakened from his surprise, Iksan then laughed. And hit Rio's shoulder very hard.

"We already know Naomi, she's the one who said Rio's girlfriend who works in Japan Nay" said Iksan.

Naya turned her head because she was very surprised to hear the explanation from Iksan, she looked at Rio who did not even take his eyes off Naomi. Naomi explained the situation to Kubo.

"Well, it turns out the world is so small that five people who have ties met accidentally" Kubo said.

Only that sentence came out of Kubo's mouth after hearing Naomi's explanation. Iksan laughed followed by the others. After a little joking, they continued the meeting without discussing their own personal affairs.  Kubo, who initially wanted to surprise Naya, was surprised by the situation where he had to meet the person who Naomi was proud to care for. While Naomi who wants to give a surprise to Rio turned out to have to meet with Rio accidentally. In addition, Naya did not even suspect that Naomi was Rio's lover. And Rio then felt proud of himself that he really saw Naomi last night until he could not wait to talk to Naomi in person.

While the others were grabbing a cup of coffee, Rio took off his jacket and quietly gave it to Naomi to cover Naomi's short skirt. Iksan and Kubo did not realize it, but Naya was always aware of Rio and Naomi's movements. Until the end of the meeting.

Meeting that day was finished until seven at night, Kubo invited the others to enjoy dinner together. He ordered some food at the hotel restaurant and asked the others to join him at the table. Naya actually wanted to come along to talk, that she used to do the same thing as Naomi did. But he did not want to interfere with the conversation between the men. Naomi was busy avoiding everything Kubo said.

"She prepared breakfast for me, and cooked dinner. Almost every day we had dinner together" Kubo added.

Naomi raised her eyebrows while looking into Kubo's eyes, she knew Kubo was doing it deliberately to make Rio's heart hot. "And it turns out that we met when I first came to Indonesia, wasn't it a coincidence? We are not destined to meet again" Kubo said.

Naomi's hotel room door opened after hearing the bell, in front of her room door Rio stood there stretching his hands while smiling. Naomipun directly hugged Rio without hesitation. Rio tightly embraced Naomi's shoulder, while sighing deeply. Rio was relieved that he was able to meet Naomi after more than a year just being able to look at her through a cell phone.

"I miss" Naomi muttered.

Naya peeked out of the hole of her bedroom door when she heard the bell ringing, she saw Rio in front of Naomi's room. Before long they hugged, for a while they were silent in that position. Makes Naya feel upset. Still clearly remembered Naya when she saw the first time Rio looked at Naomi that deep, she also saw how gentle and warm Rio's attitude towards Naomi was. While his attitude towards Naya herself was so cold. Even Rio's smile that looks so lively is always directed at Naomi. His eyes sparkled every time he looked at Naomi. And Rio's impatient desire to end the meeting in order to meet and talk with Naomi for longer.

Similarly, the Naomi whom she knew so firmly and straightforwardly became child-like in front of Rio. His eyes were also not separated from the whole thing Rio did. Even as she watched Rio make a presentation, Naomi kept smiling cheering up the man. Naya can feel the connection between the two of them, although not much talking or touching. There was a feeling of envy in Naya's heart, she herself could not deny that she liked Rio a little. That all the feelings of comfort and safety when he was with Rio made him want to be selfish and assume Naomi was never there.
