It has been a week since Naya returned to Indonesia, and Naomi is currently the most sought after. And now Naomi knows what Naya meant, about a life that no longer belongs to her. Naomi's agenda is full every day, from the time she goes to work until she gets home late at night. His work phone did not stop ringing, until sometimes he bothered himself.
In the morning, all the documents that must be approved have been piled up on his desk to be prepared and given to Kubo, during the day he had to follow Kubo for meetings in various divisions, he said, not to mention in the afternoon he still had to work on all Kubo schedules that had been ordered by people throughout the company, as well as additional work such as translating documents or serving Kubo's personal needs. Even sometimes the woman did not have time to just enjoy the chocolate provided for free in the kitchen. Just as he was leaving his desk, his phone would keep vibrating or his desk phone would keep ringing. Makes Naomi snort annoyed once in a while.
The only thing Naomi needs to be grateful for is that kubo always helps her, even when they come home Kubo always takes the time to stop by her apartment to help Naomi. Kubo's wages are not expensive, only home food that Naomi always cooks. Naomi also often cooks lunch for Kubo. Worried that the man did not have time to come to the cafeteria and they would enjoy lunch together in Kubo's room.
There is a lot of gossip spread in the office, especially when people know that Naomi's apartment is the same as the apartment that Kubo lived in. However, they can all remain professional and understand the situation that Naomi is the person who will most often be in contact with Kubo or Kubo needs. Naomi's suble attitude helped her to survive everyone's bad views. Not to forget, he also displayed a photo of himself and Rio on the table. To just emphasize that he already has a lover and it is impossible for him to attract Kubo's heart.
"Australia?" Naomi muttered when she saw an email coming in from Kubo.
"Ah, he changed his schedule again" Gerrutu Naomi.
"Why!" Complaints again.
"Kesallllll" She cried.
The woman got up from her seat, she printed the plane ticket that Kubo had just sent without explanation and took it to Kubo's room.
"This what?" Naomi asked firmly.
"Tomorrow we will go to Korea, there are important things that arrive to do" Kubo replied casually.
"Tomorrow our schedules are already congested, and cannot be canceled. There is one meeting that has been postponed for two weeks" Naomi explained.
"Cancel everything" Kubo said.
Naomi snorted annoyedly, she did not like Kubo's attitude that was disdainful in entering the schedule. Though Naomi had arranged her schedule far away. Resetting Kubo's schedule isn't easy. It takes more energy to schedule meetings with important people. But Kubo ignored him.
"I told you there's one meeting we can't cancel" she said.
"Cancel!" Cut Kubo firmly.
Naomi nodded, feeling annoyed in her heart. Then he returned to his chair. Trying to breathe and regulate emotions. Shortly after rearranging Kubo's schedule tomorrow, the woman rushed to the kitchen and made a warm chocolate for herself.
"Naomi san, tomorrow Kubo will go to Korea huh?" Ask a financial officer.
"Yes, I just got the ticket" replied Naomi pouting.
"You will definitely experience many difficult things there" muttered the woman.
"Why?" Naomi curious.
"The story I heard from Naya, Kubo has a bad habit that can not be eliminated. He will not sleep, or have an appetite when abroad. There will be many guards. Reportedly, when Kubo was a child, he was kidnapped while visiting a country. And it makes Kubo afraid when visiting other countries" explained the woman.
Naomi just nodded, she then returned to her seat. That day Naomi came home late because there were many things she had to prepare for tomorrow. Not to mention contacting clients who have made an appointment tomorrow. He canceled everything.
"As per command!" Mumbled.
When he returned to the apartment, he could only curse Kubo to the point of feeling tired. Sometimes he still roared annoyed because of Kubo's behavior today. But suddenly he got out of his bed, took a sweater and rang the doorbell of Kubo's apartment several times.
"Wait a minute" cried Kubo from the inside.
Naomi smiled broadly as she saw Kubo frowning because of his behavior. As a result of his nosiness, Kubo opened the door with unfinished hair combed. Even a comb was still stuck to his head. Transporting the disheveled Kubo.
"Let's eat, I'm hungry" Naomi said as she forcefully pulled Kubo from her room.
Kubo follows Naomi from behind, tidying up her tangled hair. Complete with t-shirts and shorts. At night, towards winter on the side of the city streets. Some passers-by even looked pityfully at Kubo because the man was cold. But Naomi likes to see it, this is a form of revenge for Kubo's behavior that is upsetting for her.
"Nih wear it to cover your legs" Naomi said as they sat down.
"From dong, cold" Gerutu Kubo as he grabbed Naomi's sweater.
"Why do we have to go and arrive tomorrow?" Naomi asked in annoyance.
"What way?" Ask again.
"Our family has a company in Korea, all employees there are ex-convicts, every year my family members must visit there to represent the owner of the company, and this year it was my turn" Kubo explained.
"So the day after that it's a charity event?"
Kubo nodded, "I was once kidnapped. By an ex-con, he kidnaps to earn money for not having a job after getting out of prison. Years in prison left him blind to the outside world, even thinking it was better for him to be there. Imprisoned and blinded the world forever for fear of not being accepted in society. After the incident, the father visited many countries and decided to create a company in every country whose employees are all ex-convicts. To help them get on with life and get back into society. That's why this event is so important to me, I want to give them a new idea that being in prison for their whole life is not a good way out" Kubo explained.
Naomi nodded her head when she heard Kubo's explanation. He began to understand why the day after tomorrow in Korea became very important for the man. Bad experiences are always something that everyone fears. But this time he saw something different from Kubo, the man preferred not to scare his bad experience and take the positive from the bad experience he had. Naomi remembers someone, someone she met in the past. He had the same experience as Kubo.
"Will he also behave like Kubo? I hope she'll be a good person" Naomi thought.
Silently, Kubo noticed the expression on Naomi's face. I hope that woman realizes who she is. Kubo hopes that Naomi will know, that the man Naomi helped once was herself. But that hope was dashed after Naomi switched the conversation and returned to the apartment without continuing any talks.
*****
What the people in the office said was true, there were about six people who were already waiting for Naomi and Kubo to be bandaged when they arrived. Six people, in all black clothes, do not forget sunglasses and a tall strapping body. Naomi knows, it was a special guard that Kubo requested the day before departure.
"Must be this much?" naomi said when she saw all the men lined up to look after Kubo. Even the people there will be mistaken when they see Kubo's strict guard. Maybe they will think that Kubo is an artist, or an important person.
Naomi whose height is commensurate with Kubo becomes impressed short when it must be escorted by the person. Several times his legs were nudged by his own suitcase because he felt uncomfortable and rushed. There were two suitcases, one of Kubo's and one of his. Actually it's not really his suitcase because almost all the goods in his suitcase are Kubo's.
He smiled with annoyance as he got into the car, "It has to be this much?" Naomi asked upon arrival in Korea.
"That's mandatory care" Kubo insisted.
"Out there, the freak took a look at you. They think maybe you're an artist or something"
"It looks like my performance today wasn't bad either. I'm considered an artist"
"Males, the artist so you're being escorted"
"Liar, what matters is that I'm safe"
"Ga somebody's gonna kidnap you here, you're not the artist"
The trip to the hotel is quite far away, apparently the company that Kubo explained is in the suburbs. Not too big, but wide enough for the size of a company made on a charitable basis. Naaomi could tell that Kubo's parents were not just the origin of making a company. But they think carefully about the goals and results of the company. Charity which then brings more profit to them.
The company is engaged in convection, far from the field of the company that Kubo currently manages. All profits owned by the company can be accessed by all employees to create a transparent system. Moreover, they will also explain how much profit falls to the owner, the benefits used to enlarge the company and the benefits distributed to all employees in the form of bonuses every one year. In total there are about two thousand employees, and all are ex-convicts. With the exception of the higher-ups there, because they all must be experienced people.
Since this company is indeed a company that counts as a charity company, they get more attention from the Korean government. And received some donations from the Korean government. Employees are not demanding, because they are aware that only this company will accept them and help them to find a place after years of imprisonment.
Naomi becomes the translator there, following Kubo every step. Eight hours after they arrived and could only rest in the waiting room.
Ssbwcpppppp!
Suddenly the whole room went dark, the lights went out. The sound of many people running around here and there to find out the cause of the power failure. Naomi tries to leave the room to find out and leaves Kubo in the bathroom. Only a few minutes later, he realized that Kubo did not come out. The woman immediately ran to the room where she left Kubo. He shouted calling Kubo's name and tried to open the door. But there's no answer. Naomi becomes increasingly worried, she calls some bodyguards and asks them to break down the bathroom door.
BRAKKKKKK !
After twice the guards tried to break down the bathroom door, they finally succeeded. Along with the lights on. There, in the corner of the room Naomi saw Kubo hugging his legs with his hands. His head lowered, it could be seen that his hands were clenching and trembling. Being in the bathroom, with a dark state without a flash of light reminds Naomi of the man she had helped in the past. He immediately carried Kubo to stand up, but when the woman tried to help Kubo embrace him suddenly. With a wet body, and still trembling. Naomi suddenly remembered and awakened. That Kubo is the man he's met before. He was silent, letting Kubo hold her tightly in fear.
"Thank You"
It was the only sound Naomi heard from Kubo's brackish voice. After the incident, Kubo and Naomi return to the hotel. Naomi was silent, not talking all the way. While Kubo sleeps asleep on his lap. Kubo did not let go of his hand. After Kubo fell asleep, Naomi was able to move Kubo's head on the pillow. Before he went to his hotel room, he looked at the man.
A smile appeared at the end of his lips. He did not expect that fate would lead him to someone he had once met. Someone Naomi thought she would never see again.
"We'll see you again" Naomi muttered.
