CHAPTER 09

Xin Qian was unsure of being able to purify the energy of the demons, as she knew that she herself had just recovered and was unable to bring out power in a great form.

"Please don't sleep. I will try to purify your energy" Xin Qian said holding onto the shady trunk of the cherry blossom tree.

The cherry tree smiled at Xin Qian. But that smile turned into tears as he saw Xin Qian fall down and it was hard to stand back up. All the demons approached Xin Qian to help her even though they themselves had to stagger.

"Xin Qian's! What's going on?" The rabbit demon helped Xin Qian to sit and lean under the sakura tree.

"We're so sad to see you like this." The fox demon held onto both cheeks of Xin Qian.

"I can't help you guys. I'm sorry." Xin Qian slowly shed tears.

"Xin Qian ...."

Xin Qian's tears began to fall against the trunk of the cherry blossom tree. The demons also cried to see their friend cry. Xin Qian's tears flowed quickly towards the roots of the cherry tree and things never expected happened.

The sakura tree felt that if its body was better than before, it felt that its roots had become fresher and stronger. The cherry blossoms on the tree are blooming again and are more beautiful.

The demons also felt the energy in their bodies that had returned pure. The plants there are fresh and green again, but the river remains receding and is slightly brownish in color.

The demons were very happy and thanked Xin Qian. But there was no reply from Xin Qian. His eyes were closed and his face was very pale.

"No. What's going on?" sakura tree is confused.

"Xin Qian, wake up! Xin Qian, wake up!"

Xin Qian slightly opened her eyes and asked the demons to put her to sleep in the middle of the river. The demons followed his words and they stood around the river.

After quite a while they waited for Xin Qian to reveal herself to the surface of the water, it turned out that Xin Qian did not appear in the slightest and the river water remained brownish in color as well receding. The demons were crying back.

"Xin Qian, you have promised to always be there for us. We also promised to help each other. Have you forgotten that promise?" shouted the stealth squirrel hysterically.

But there was no reply from Xin Qian. They feel hopeless about the life they are living.

"How can we live if the person who has given us pure energy is no more?" asked a horse staring at the middle of the river.

"No! Xin Qian will be back soon. He won't break his promise just like that" the stealthy sloth squirrels face his friends.

Not long after the river water slowly changed color to clear and the fish in it came back to life. The demons were happy to see the color of the river turning clear. Then Xin Qian woke up and revealed herself to the surface of the river.

"Xin Qian's! It's Xin Qian. I've already said that Xin Qian will be back soon. He couldn't possibly break his promise" said the spirited squirrel demon.

"Xin Qian, thank you for not keeping your word" said one of the demons.

"I also thank you guys for believing in me" Xin Qian hugged her friends back.

"Xin Qian, after this can we come with you out of this place?"

"Didn't you like this place?"

"It's not. We just want to be with you so we can protect you."

"I am very worried about your safety. I'm afraid if anyone else in this palace knows where you are, then they'll catch and kill you."

"If so, can you spend one night here with us?"

"But what if someone's looking for me in the palace?"

"I beg you!!"

"alright. But only one night."

"Thank you, Xin Qian."

The day was getting darker, the bright rays of the sun had now been replaced by the bright rays of the moon. Zhang Pei looked at his face in the mirror, suddenly he saw Xin Qian's face was smiling beside his right. But as he looked to his right side there was no one.

"I just met her, why did I suddenly see her face in the mirror?" he muttered while smiling.

While in the room, Ji Nian was lying down and thinking about Xin Qian's daughter which made her fall in love.

"Tok .. tok .. tok ...." The sound of knocking from outside the window.

"You? What are you doing there these nights?" ji Nian asked astonished at the attitude of his friend.

"Chairman, come! There's something you need to know" Junqing said.

"About what?"

"I'll tell you when you're here."

"All right, wait for me. I'll catch up with you."

"Aww.cn ...." Ji Nian jumped out of the window and fell in front of Junqing.

"Chairman! You okay?"

"Don't just stand up, just help me!"

Just as he was about to help Ji Nian to stand up, Junqing suddenly pulled back Ji Nian thus making Ji Nian fall a second time.

"What are you doing?"

"St! Chief, look at that. I've seen Zhang Pei walking around like a thief."

"What do you mean accuse the demon of being a thief?"

"You should see that. Zhang Pei hid something behind his hanfu. Did you see him?"

"Then what? We'd better get to him so we know what he's really doing."

"not now. We have to follow him first."

"What else is this?"

"Come on!"

Zhang Pei passed by some of the palace soldiers by hiding the frog demon behind the hanfu he was wearing.

"Listen to the frog stealth! Wherever you're from, you need to get back to where you are. If the humans see you, then they won't let you stay alive" Zhang Pei whispered to the frog demon.

"Thank you, buddy," retorted the stealth frog.

"Zhang Pei? What are you doing here?" xin Qian asked curiously.

"Daughter?" Zhang Pei turned his head, in his left hand was a frightened frog demon looking at Xin Qian.

"Zhang Pei, you?" Xin Qian was surprised to see the frog demon that was supposed to be where he was protecting instead was now in Zhang Pei's hands.

Xin Qian heard there were footsteps of someone who was heading to their place. Then Xin Qian pulled Zhang Pei's right hand to be invited to go using the science of teleportation. Ji Nian and Junqing reached the place, but they did not see anyone there.

"Where is he? I think he went this way" said Ji Nian.

"I also saw him go this way," Junqing replied.

"Chairman, what are you looking for?" ask a soldier of the palace guard.

"Did you see Zhang Pei through here?"

"No, Chairman. I don't see anyone through here."

"All right then, you can go."

"Good, Chief."

"I'm pretty sure that Zhang Pei is going this way. But why isn't anyone here?" inner Ji Nian.

"Chairman, should we find Zhang Pei somewhere else?"

"no need. It's night time, we'd better go back to each other's rooms to sleep."

"All right."
