CHAPTER 06

The Longyou Country

Ji Nian walked through the vast dense forest. He saw a canoe on the edge of the river and used the canoe to cross the river.

After crossing the river, he had been attacked by some of the forest guard demons. Fortunately, he managed to get them to retreat.

Ji Nian arrived in front of a very long bridge. The bridge was the only way to reach Longyou.

It was not easy to cross the bridge, he used some magic spells to get through. The bridge was very large and long, underneath which was a very deep and terrible gorge. He made it over the bridge and he saw many demons living peacefully there. Ji Nian walked through the crowd and looked for the residence of the healer Urong.

In the middle of the bridge, there was an ape demon that accidentally hit Ji Nian. The demon had apologized to Ji Nian, but Ji Nian instead pulled out his sword and thrust it into the face of the ape demon. All the demons who saw him immediately ran around to leave the place.

While the ape demon raised both his hands in fear of Ji Nian. From behind was a man wearing a white hanfu who also thrust his sword into Ji Nian's back.

He was Zhang Pei, a handsome man who was the nephew of the Urong physician. Both of his parents have died and he grew up in the land of demons.

He also has the ability of Xin Qian to understand and talk to animals. It was because he had the blood of half human and half demon.

Ji Nian immediately fended off Zhang Pei's sword and there was a war between the two. Ji Nian was brought down by Zhang Pei.

"You? Why are you blocking me from attacking that demon? Aaa .. I see, lest you be the king of the demons." Ji Nian asked then guessed with a slight whimper.

"My name is Zhang Pei and I am not the king of those demons!" Zhang Pei confirmed to Ji Nian casually.

"really? Then why are you even stopping me from attacking that demon?" Ji Nian stood up and asked with a cynical look.

"The demons saved me and my uncle. They took us to this place when my parents died. They've become a family to me, so I won't let anyone attack them."

"Easy! I don't want to hear your bullshit, let's finish our fight."

"Don't I make you lose this fight? I don't want to waste my precious time serving you."

Zhang Pei left Ji Nian at the place himself. Ji Nian thought that Zhang Pei could help him find the residence of the Urong healer, because Zhang Pei had said that he was the nephew of the Urong healer.

Ji Nian ran and passed through the crowd of demons, but he did not also find Zhang Pei.

"Where did the freak go?" he murmured a little.

After a long time of circling around looking for Zhang Pei at that place, they finally reunited.

"Why did you disappear so quickly?" ji Nian asked in annoyance.

"I was ordered by the King to meet the physician Urong."

"Why do you want to meet Uncle Urong?"

"There's something I have to say to the Urong physician."

"Why are you taking me to an art gallery?" ji Nian asked staring sinisterly at Zhang Pei's face.

"This isn't an art gallery, this is Uncle Urong's house. He did like to collect ancient items," replied Zhang Pei who was sitting on a chair.

"Then where's Uncle Urong?"

"Uncle, I am Ji Nian from the land of Peacelavia. King Arlo ordered me to take you to the palace, so you can treat Xin Qian's daughter."

"King Arlo??"

"Uncle, do you know King Arlo?"

"of course. Formerly humans and demons lived peacefully and side by side in Peacelavia. But when Arlo's coronation became King, one of his fellow students, Wang Shu, was against it."

"How did you know that story?"

"I used to live in Peacelavia as a Physician and I left Peacelavia to protect myself from Wang Shu when he returned. But while I was on my way, one of Wang Shu's evil demons confronted me and he almost killed me. But luckily I was saved by some good demon and brought to this place."

"Then what happened, Uncle?"

"Wang Shu once ordered an evil demon to destroy this country, but we managed to block them from entering. After that incident, we decided to make the bridge towards Longyou invisible. And only certain people can cross that bridge."

"That means I'm one of them?"

"true."

"You shouldn't hate demons, because not all demons are as evil as you think." Zhang Pei interrupted the conversation.

"It's rude of you to interrupt people's conversations!" reply Ji Nian was angry.

"Have it, you shouldn't have fought." Uncle Urong broke up.

"Uncle, will you come with me to the land of Peacelavia?"

"I'm sorry, young man. But I promised I wouldn't leave this country."

"But, uncle. Princess Xin Qian desperately needs your help."

"I'm sorry again. I can't help you."

"I can help you, even if you want to" said Zhang Pei who walked around Ji Nian.

"No. I don't need your help at all," Ji Nian replied sniffling as he walked away from Zhang Pei.

"I know you need my help. Pulling poison from someone's body is not difficult for me, because I am a disciple of Uncle Urong." Zhang Pei took his sword and walked ahead of Ji Nian.

"Young man, let Zhang Pei come with you. He will replace me to treat the princess" said Urong's uncle.

Ji Nian sighed in affirming Zhang Pei's offer because he didn't want to slow down time.

They go hand in hand to talk about the dispute between demons and humans. Zhang Pei also had another purpose: to find out about what had actually happened between humans and demons in the past.

As he was about to cross the bridge, one of the demons approached them.

"Master Zhang Pei, where are you going?" ask the rabbit demon.

"Huh?? So a strange human like you is a master?" Ji Nian asked and laughed at Zhang Pei as if he could not believe that Zhang Pei was a master.

"I must go to the land of Peacelavia to treat a Princess," Zhang Pei replied gently and ignored Ji Nian's remark.

"Is the princess you're going to treat is Xin Qian's daughter?" ask the rabbit demon.

"How could he know?" Ji Nian astonished.

"I was just expecting it, because all I know in the land of Peacelavia is Xin Qian's daughter." The rabbit demon convinced.

"How do you know Xin Qian's daughter?" Zhang Pei furrowed his brows.

"Master, I met him when he was a kid. She's so sweet and funny." The rabbit demon smiled slightly.

"Daughter Xin Qian's sweet face had indeed never faded to this point. Can we go now?" Ji Nian turned his face away.

"Brabbit smile, we have to leave immediately."
