The Cowardly Yuria

The Cowardly Yuria
Chapter 9 The rain

Once back home Yuri greeted by a bicycle parked beside the door of the house, apparently the grandmother had bought it.

Looking at her height and model perfectly suited for Yuri, it left Yuri at a loss as to how could her grandmother afford to buy the right bike for her.

"This way you don't have to be afraid if you miss the bus" said the grandmother.

Yuri nodded, the next day he woke up early because going on his speed bike was certainly slower than the bus so he wanted to anticipate the delay.

Unfortunately Yuri did not watch the morning news so he did not know the weather forecast today, after the club activities were finished he had to turn in front of the parking lot staring at the heavy rain.

Staring at the sky that was so cloudy with heavy rainfall he predicted for himself the new rain subsided later tonight, there was no choice he had to wait.

Stretching out his hand he felt raindrops drenching his palm, feeling cold with an amused sensation that made him laugh.

If he had brought a raincoat, he would have been cycling while enjoying the rain.

"You don't have an umbrella or a raincoat?" ask Rapka suddenly.

Yuri stared, due to the rain that was too heavy he did not realize Rapka came to him.

Feeling awkward Yuri who lowered her head, to answer Rapka's question he just drowned.

"I also forgot to bring it," Rapka said.

Silence then exists between them, making Yuri even more awkward and nervous. Especially when he realized they were just the two of them.

Duaaaarr...

Aaa......

Suddenly lightning struck with greatness, his loud voice made Yuri frightened to the point of ducking while closing her ears.

Seeing that the unbearable Rapka suddenly stood before him, as if protecting him from lightning.

"It's okay" he said with a smile.

Duaaaarr...

This time, Yuri reflex was afraid to hold Rapka's hand tightly, seconds later as she opened her eyes and tried to calm her heartbeat, her gaze fixed on Rapka who was staring at her.

"Pardon me" he said immediately away.

"It's okay" Rapka said.

"ah! "pointing Yuri to Rapka's injured hand because she was too tight to hold on to her nails.

"Oh, just a small wound. No problem" said Rapka, smiling.

But Yuri did not underestimate him, fortunately he always carried a small medicine box in his bag. It became a habit after he was bullied, so he could bandage his wounds wherever he was.

Yuri deftly attaches plaster to the wound, leaving Rapka perplexed as to what Yuri's true nature was.

"Why are you so good to me?" ask Rapka suddenly.

Of course Yuri was surprised to hear the question, why is he good? he did not feel good because he hurt Rapka.

"Initially you always avoided me, assumed I didn't exist. All this time I wondered if your shoulder hurt so much that it made you hate me in such a way" Rapka said.

Yuri was shocked even more, she never hated Rapka. Instead, he felt like Rapka, every day he avoided Rapka because he did not have the courage to even say hello.

"You are misunderstood" Yuri said slowly.

"What?" ask Rapka because she doesn't hear clearly.

"I don't hate you," Yuri said now in a firmer voice.

"I can't!" yuri shouted cutting Rapka's speech.

"I'm always nervous if in front of a cheerful person, I can't be friends with someone like you" he continued without being able to raise his face.

"I'm sorry!" yuri shouted suddenly.

Not caring about the rain that was still so heavy Yuri rushed to run over him, pedaling her bike without caring for her eyes that hurt because of the rain that pierced her face like a needle.

"You haven't come home yet?" ask Noah suddenly.

Rapka who was still dumbly staring at Yuri's departure finally realized and shook her head.

"How was that?" asked Noah as he approached.

"Well, the coach still won't let me in" he replied.

"That's it," Noah said coldly as usual.

For a moment they stared at the rain that was still rushing in silence.

"We are in second grade, next semester you still have the opportunity to participate in the game and there is still next year as well" Noah said expressionlessly.

Rapka smiled, although Noah's face was flat and always spoke in a cold tone but secretly Noah was a caring person. The way he entertained the sad Rapka for not being able to participate in the tournament due to an accident was unique, but it made him excited again.

......................

Coming home drenched even though Yuri immediately changed clothes and ate warm soup the next day he got a fever, as a result he could not enter school and had to lie still in his bed.

His dizzy head stared at the ceiling and the lights were swaying, his body also felt very sore and sore.

It felt so uncomfortable, he wanted to go out at least for a walk.

Strange, when in the past he always deliberately made himself sick either fever or whatever it was. The reason is because he is lazy to go to school, he wants to stay in his room all the time and for good.

If he thought it was not even two weeks he lived in the village with his grandmother, but he was comfortable with life there.

The school that he used to avoid now wants him to go every day, but if he enters school he will be tired when he meets Rapka because of the pounding of his heart. He will also be tired because he has to follow the activities of eskul, every morning he also has to prepare two supplies. Isn't it all exhausting and troublesome? why did he enjoy it this time.

"Yuri... have you stumped?" ask grandma from outside the room.

Yuri blinked, apparently this morning after breakfast he went back to sleep until noon.

"Yes." he replied in a hoarse voice.

The door was opened, Grandma entered and immediately checked her temperature.

"Gosh... It's noon this way but your fever doesn't go down too, should we go to the doctor?" ask grandma.

"No need, please make me some tea, please" he said.

"Alright, your friends are visiting. Can grandma let them in?" ask the grandmother who surprised Yuri.

"Friends?" tanyakanya.

"Yes, a boy named Imel and two men came to visit. They even bother to bring you fruits" replied the grandmother.

Whether Yuri should behave like what, in the end he let them in.

"Yuri.. I hear you have a fever, are you better?" imel asked, even though he had just entered the room.

Yuri can't talk, especially when the two men she's referring to are Rapka and Noah. His eyes were then fixed on Rapka, they stared at each other for quite a while until Yuri finally turned her eyes.
