Chapter 31 Unilateral Feelings

For three days Imel continued to make snacks for Daniel, every snack he gave was always well received until that day he decided to write a letter.

Just during the break he handed over the letter which certainly made Daniel quite surprised to receive it, trying to look calm he was waiting for Daniel to come home from school later.

After the break ended, Imel could not focus on the lesson which of course made Yuri wonder, even Yuri had realized that these few days Imel's attitude was quite strange.

Worried about his best friend Yuri invites Imel to go home together at least until the gate.

"Sorry, there are things I have to do first" said Imel did not forget to smile.

"Imel... Are you okay?" ask Yuri at last.

"Eh why?" reply Imel confused got the question.

"You look weird these days, you're always sleepy in class and late to the cafeteria. What exactly happened to you?" yuri asked revealing her anxiety.

Imel was silent for a moment, not expecting Yuri to be so considerate of him.

"Yuri, if today is not my lucky day can you hug me?" imel asked suddenly worried about facing the future.

"What do you mean? don't scare me!" yuri who suddenly felt uncomfortable.

"Mm, there's no. Are you just going to accompany me? there are things I have to do first" he said with a smile.

Although a little confused but Yuri nodded, letting Imel hold her hand. They walk out of the classroom and upon arriving at the park somehow Imel tells Yuri to hide behind a tree.

Yuri just nodded in astonishment, only a few minutes later did she understand when Daniel came to fulfill the promise.

"Finally thank you for coming and sorry for the trouble!" imel exclaimed while lowering his head.

"That's okay" said Daniel, uncomfortable with the apology.

"Um.. I should be the one apologizing," he continued, throwing his face away.

Make Imel's heart beat fast with the mind trying to guess what the next sentence Daniel will say.

"Everytime you give me something I feel good about, you're the first girl to make me a variety of snacks without praising my strengths. It makes me feel normal like everyone else, but I'm sorry that I only think of you as a little sister. I don't have any more feelings" Daniel said unequivocally.

"That's it. " murmured Imel.

"I'm sorry!" shouted Daniel who felt guilty because Imel's face clearly expressed heartbreak.

"Eh it's okay, actually I've predicted this. I know there's no way Daniel's brother likes me but still I'm stubborn" Imel replied, forcing a smile so that Daniel would stop apologizing.

Because the more Daniel apologizes and feels guilty his heart will hurt even more.

"Then we can be friends" he said again.

"Yes, thank you for understanding, then I go first" said Daniel.

Imel nodded and maintained his smile until Daniel completely disappeared from his eyes.

If time could be reworked he would choose not to follow Imel, but when he remembered Imel's request which he had not long ago said without waiting again Yuri rushed out of hiding and hugged Imel from behind.

"Ah.. Yuri. "call Imel a little surprised.

"It's okay, there I am here," Yuri said slowly.

Wishing he could make Imel feel a little better, but as soon as Imel turned around he was surprised to see Imel's smile.

"I'm fine, you don't have to worry" he said.

Yuri could not understand why Imel could still be strong at a time like this, even he was blabbering as usual as they walked home.

But the longer Yuri watched she finally became aware that Imel was just trying to look tough, all the more ranting sounds forced.

"Eh, Yuri?" call Imel when Yuri stops walking all of a sudden.

"Why are you like this? is it because you want to be considered cool?" yuri asked slowly but firmly with sharp eyes staring.

"What do you mean?" reply Imel feel uncomfortable.

"If it hurts cry! I'll hold you until you're satisfied! so. so don't be tough, at least not in front of me. I also want to be who you are always there for me, always making me feel better and grateful to have a friend."

There were tears streaming down Yuri's cheeks after the rebuke, making Imel finally melt and hug Yuri with a loud sobbing.

"It's okay, get everything out" Yuri said as she rubbed Imel's hair.

At first Imel only tried to stretch his heart because he was tough, but heartbreak was too painful until the only way was to vapourize it by crying.

I don't know how long they've been hugging each other, which is obviously long enough until the sun is ready to sink.

Imel still wants to be near Yuri so he decides to stay at Yuri's house, of course Yuri gladly agrees.

Arriving home after dinner they spend time in the room, Imel tells a lot about Daniel. The real senior he had admired since he first entered the school, when he was first grade and Daniel second grade.

Over time the awe turned into love until finally love, several times they met and chatted. Sometimes in the library, sometimes in the cafeteria, even outside the school they had passed each other until finally chatting.

Yuri was quite surprised to hear the story, he did not expect Imel to be able to harbor that feeling for a year.

"I only realized when soon we will face the semester exam, after the exam that third grade children will not have much time because they are busy preparing for SBMPTN. Then I also don't have much time to see her anymore, therefore before she leaves I want her to know how I feel towards her even though in the end it's unrequited."

A reasonable reason though did not end well, at least Imel did not live in question marks.

"You too" said Imel suddenly.

"What?" reply Yuri asked.

"If there's someone you like don't put off, tell him you're so grateful to be able to meet him and spend time with him."

Yuri did not reply, but she smiled as if the advice was no longer important.
