The Man Denna Missed Part 1

Denna and Nio were eating together. They looked happy, even Nio to the straws of tomato sauce. Denna painstakingly cleaned the remaining tomato sauce in Nio's mouth.

"What a son, Aunt Denna. I haven't eaten this for a long time because Grandpa said you shouldn't eat too much junk food."

"Indeed you should not eat junk food like this often."

"Yes, Doctor Aunt, I won't eat much burger." Nio smile. "Auntie Doctor, where are we going after this?"

"Where are you going?"

"Eum!" The boy seemed to think for a moment. "I don't know. To the playground I've been there, if the walk to the zoo time is noon."

"Want to go to the zoo?"

"Nio, Sunday tomorrow Aunt Denna's off. How about we both go for a walk to the zoo?"

"Really, Auntie?"

"of course. At eight o'clock in the morning Auntie will pick you up at home. You mustn't be late."

"Now we finish the food and I'll take you home to rest."

Denna drove Nio home after finishing her meal. At home, it turns out there is only Uncle Sam because Rayhan's grandfather is in Dane's office.

Denna woke up at ten in the night and was right what her mother had said. Stomach hungry. Denna picked up her blanket and picked up some drinking water beside her bed.

"I was so lazy to go down. Better just drink water." Denna lay back down.

The ringing of Denna's cell phone brought the woman's eyes back open and she quickly searched where her phone was.

"Dane? I said no, huh?"

"Hello, Denna."

"Dane, what's wrong? Don't you see what time it is?" Denna pretended to yawn.

"Am I bothering you?"

"Of course, if you call, don't have nights like this."

"Sorry, I'm usually at this hour calling you."

"Are you busy enough to take up a lot of your time?"

"Mr Dane, this is your medicine."

Denna heard someone say something about Dane's medicine. Dane gestured for the man talking to Dane to leave the room.

"Dane, what drug? And who is that?"

"He's one of my bodyguards. Denna, if you're distracted I apologize and go back to sleep."

"Dane, what's wrong with you? Are you sick. I want a video call with you."

"For what? I'm fine, Denna."

"Why are you always not being honest? You asked me to marry you. Just so you know, marriage is based on trust and honesty, and I'm only going to marry people who want to be honest with their partners." Denna's upset with Dane. He had a few days of bad dreams about Dane and this man really made him uneasy, but again the disappointment he got from this man.

Dane then replaced his call with a video call. Denna looked surprised, but she was also curious at what had actually happened to Dane.

"Hi, Denna," said Dane.

Denna was rather surprised to see Dane in a hospital room and there was an infusion hose attached there.

"You're in the hospital? You why? Did something happen to your heart?"

"Dimas' heart is fine. He's as strong as his owner once was."

"Then, what are you?" Denna noticed what was there.

"I was shot for fighting a thief while in a minimarket here."

"What?" Denna was shocked. "Foot? Then, what was shot and how are you doing now?"

"You can see for yourself. I'm fine, just waiting to recover."

"Which part was shot, Dane?" denna's voice looked soft.

"The stomach's on the left, and I'm grateful the bullet didn't make it through his internal organs."

"Is your job done?"

"Not yet and maybe I'll go home until I'm fully recovered. I don't want to let Grandpa and Arsen know I'm like this. Denna can you hide this secret?"

"Of course, you don't worry. I also don't want to make Grandpa and Nio worry that until they know how you are."

"Thank you, Denna."

"Dane, there's actually something I want to say, but I'll wait for you to come home."

"What do you want to talk about? Is this about my gift ring?"
