08 Regrets of First Love (Part 3)

Audrey tries to hide her own trauma and pain. He did not want if his mother and Opanya knew that he had experienced abuse that almost took away his honor as a woman. Audrey called the campus and asked her instructor for permission not to attend the consultation this week. Audrey said she was not feeling well and needed rest to recover. Her mother was a little suspicious of Audrey's changed attitude. Every time you ask Audrey, she just says she broke up with Dave and needs some time alone.

Five days later, Audrey turned off her phone to avoid being distracted by anyone. However, this morning, Audrey decided to be strong and put her life in order again. A mixed feeling of fear attacked Audrey when she turned on her phone. Sure enough, Audrey's heart rate stopped seeing Dave's name on her phone screen. A lot of miscall and messages that Dave sent. Audrey ventured to read Dave's latest message.

Audrey throws her phone over the bed. He didn't understand why Dave was still bothering him. I don't know what other tricks Dave used to frame him. Audrey's fed up with all that guy's falsehood. Audrey's eyes widened to read the last words Dave had written.

Just as Audrey came out of her room to prepare to leave for college, she suddenly heard someone knocking on the door impatiently.

"Let Audrey open the door, Ma," Audrey said as she picked up her college bag.

Just as she opened the door, Audrey was surprised to see who appeared before her. Ethan and Justin, two of Dave's best friends are standing with panicked faces.

"Drey, you finally opened the door too. Come with me now! Dave was in the hospital in a terrible accident last night. He's in critical condition and keeps delirious about your name. Dave is now undergoing surgery. We have to get there before it's too late" said Ethan, pulling Audrey's hand."

"Tu.wait a minute. Is it true that Dave was in an accident?." Audrey replied as if she did not believe Ethan's words.

"Ma, Opa, Audrey's gone for a while" Audrey said, closing the door and rushing after Ethan and Justin to the car. Audrey remembers the last message Dave sent. This time Dave wasn't lying. Dave was so sorry for his actions that he dared to risk his own life.

Half-running, Audrey follows Dave's two best friends along the hospital aisle. Audrey's tears began to flow imagining what had happened to Dave. Audrey condemns her mistake of letting Dave endanger himself to apologize to her. Dave's actions are despicable, but Audrey should have opened the door to apologize for her ex-boyfriend. At least Audrey can reply to Dave's message and prevent bad things from happening.

Arriving in front of the operating room, they saw a woman in her 40s crying with two nurses. Ethan approached the woman with a confused face.

"Tante Diana, what's wrong? Is Dave's operation over?"

Half shouting, the woman replied while crying, "Dave is gone. Aunt is alone now. Dave's gone forever.."

Shortly, several nurses came out of the operating room carrying a patient bed. Audrey's body suddenly went limp. His hands and feet were as cold as ice water. Audrey drags her lost leg to approach the nurses and approaches Dave's body lying on top of it.

Audrey, unable to contain her sadness, cries and shakes Dave's body, "Dave you must be kidding. Wake up now, Dave! I forgive you, Dave. Come on, get up, don't leave us all."

"Sir, I'm sorry we had to move the patient's body" a nurse told Audrey.

Audrey, who was still standing in a shaken condition, suddenly fell down due to being pushed hard by her mother Dave.

Dave's mother pulled Audrey to her feet and grabbed Audrey's hair violently. Audrey's tears kept flowing. The woman landed a hard slap on Audrey's cheek. Audrey feels she deserves all the punch for being the cause of Dave's death. Ethan and Justin are watching the incident trying to separate Mama Dave from Audrey.

"Tante is no use doing this to Audrey. Now we better take care of Dave's body, Auntie," said Ethan to calm Mama Dave.

"Take that damn girl out from before me! If I still see him, I will definitely finish him off! mama Dave shouted instructions to Ethan and Justin.

Ethan signals Justin to take Audrey away. Justin held Audrey's shoulder and helped the girl walk away from the hospital.

"Drey, it's a drink first" Justin said concerned while offering a bottle of mineral water. Audrey just nodded slowly. Audrey's eyes glared far away.

"Drey, don't think too much. Aunt Diana was just in shock because of Dave's sudden departure. Dave used to often participate in wild racing even often win tournaments. Dave is actually an expert racer. It is almost impossible for him to have a fatal accident. But I think it's all fate. Dave's departure wasn't your fault."

"Justin, I don't blame Dave's mom. What he said was right. I'm responsible for Dave's death. I'm too arrogant to forgive Dave."

"Drey, let's go. You can go to Dave's grave when the atmosphere is quiet. I'll take you home now," Justin said to help Audrey stand up.

"Thank you, Justin," Audrey replied weakly.

Audrey promises in her heart that she will make amends for all her mistakes to Dave. He will live alone without love. For him love is dead along with Dave's departure.
