06 Regrets of First Love (Part 1)

Audrey recalls an event she had been desperate to forget all along. Audrey entered her fourth semester in college, when she began to feel what women love for men. Previously, Audrey was very indifferent with love affairs, she just wanted to achieve the best grades on campus. Undeniably, Audrey sometimes admires the handsome face of the guy at her college. However, that admiration was only present for a moment. Audrey didn't know when the strange feeling first appeared when she met Dave Sebastian.

Dave, a well-bodied guy with an athletic body, curly hair, tanned skin, and a pair of beautiful sharp eyes. Dave's eyes were so dazzling that they melted Audrey's heart. Initially, they were found in a group task. Since then, Dave has often approached Audrey pretending to borrow her notebook. Every time he went to the cafeteria, Dave always tried to sit next to Audrey. In fact, Dave did not hesitate to run after Audrey to offer her home together. Sometimes Audrey feels uncomfortable with Dave's behavior. Moreover, Dave is already famous for his reputation as a playboy on campus. But, gradually Audrey gets used to being near Dave. Only Dave knows how to make Audrey laugh at his silly jokes.

"Drey, I love you. Will you be my girlfriend?If you say yes, accept this rose, if you don't return it to me" Dave pleaded.

With slightly trembling hands, Audrey decided to accept the rose. A sweet smile immediately fell on Dave's lips to see Audrey accept his love.

"May I kiss your forehead?" dave asked after Audrey was willing to be his girlfriend. Audrey nodded timidly. That's how Audrey and Dave's love story began.

Three months of love, they both went perfectly. To celebrate their anniversary, Dave invites Audrey to dinner at a cafe.

"Drey, I'm going to the toilet for a second" said Dave, leaving Audrey alone. Audrey was just about to open her phone to ward off boredom when she heard Dave's phone suddenly go off loud. At first glance Ethan's name, Dave's best friend, is on the phone screen. Audrey tried to ignore him because she felt she had no right to hold Dave's phone. However, the ringing of the phone that did not stop made Audrey worried. He's afraid there's something urgent Ethan wants to say. Audrey grabs Dave's phone to receive a call from Ethan.

As soon as Audrey picked up the phone, Ethan impatiently spoke.

"Hello Bro, why don't you pick up the phone? There are only 30 minutes left for the tournament to start. Are you dating Audrey until you forget our race schedule? Come on Bro, she's khan's just our betting chick. Has your taste changed to a geeky girl now? You've won the bet Bro, now live the girl. I'm waiting in the usual place" Ethan said, closing the call. Ethan did not give Audrey any chance to answer. Audrey's hands suddenly drowned. His mind was raging and his chest felt tight. Ethan's words were still ringing in Audrey's ears, like a spell that in an instant bewitched her into the saddest girl in the world.

"Drey, why are you so pale? Are you sick?" ask Dave to astonishment. Audrey went silent trying to gather the little bit of her strength that was still left. "Please take me home" said Audrey. A worried-looking Dave rushes to the waiter to deliver the bill and drives Audrey home.

"I want to talk for a minute" said Audrey, trying hard. Dave stroked Audrey's hair, "Okay honey talk, I thought you were mad at me."

"So Ethan called. He asked you to come to the race immediately. You're too late now."

"Oh, yes I completely forgot. But it doesn't matter, I want to be with you tonight."

"Go, Dave. Aren't I just the result of your bet," Audrey's voice began to hoarse from enduring the heartache. Audrey's eyes began to tear up, but the girl was all her might holding back her tears from spilling.

"What do you mean, honey? A. I don't understand."

"Dave, stop lying to me. Ethan said everything was on the phone. Turns out you approached me just to prove that you're a real playboy. You managed to subdue a geeky and nerdy girl like me. Now that you've made it, why are you still continuing this courtship, Dave?"

Dave is shocked to learn that Ethan has leaked the secret. However, Dave said in front of Audrey, "Honey, Ethan is a silly kid and likes to joke. He just wants you to believe his jokes."

"Ethan doesn't know that I got the call. He thought it was you, so there was no way he would tell a lie. Dave.I'm asking to be honest with me right now. Please, don't hurt me any deeper" Audrey said sobbing.

"Okay, okay, Drey I'm sorry. I admit I was wrong to you. Indeed, I used to make you a betting material because I was curious about your quiet and cold attitude towards men. I am challenged to conquer you. But, after I got to know you better, I realized that you made me fall in love. My love is sincere. I love you and I want us to keep dating. I'm sorry, honey..." Dave looked at Audrey gently as he clasped the girl's hand.

"Dave, do you know my heart hurts so much to hear your confession. My heart has been played. I'm just a bet for you. I'm sure you wouldn't have kept this from me if Ethan hadn't said it. Sorry, Dave, I can't afford to continue our relationship. A relationship that begins with a lie is not love. We better break up. Don't see me anymore" Audrey asked, letting go of Dave's hand. Audrey's heart felt pierced by a knife. Regardless of Dave's screaming name, Audrey got out of the car and ran into her house. Dave could only hit the steering wheel. His courage to pursue Audrey vanished, along with the regret he now felt.
