43 Audit Finance Division (Part 2)

"Master, we need to first explore why this envelope can be found inside Audrey's cabinet. Audrey is our supervisor and she is in charge of the company's money and securities storage. It was impossible for him to take the deposit and check money so blatantly like this. Especially in the midst of the audit process," said Mr. Rizal defended Audrey in front of the auditors.

"Sir Rizal, we better check the footage first. Who knows if there are clues that we can find" Tristan said trying to provide a solution.

Both auditors agreed to Tristan's idea.

Mr. Bimo started playing CCTV footage in the finance room at twelve p.m. But the swaying and blurry image made all of them unable to see clearly. There was only a glimpse of the shadow of a woman who was in the room.

"We can't use this CCTV footage to figure out what's going on, Mr. Rizal. So, the only way we have to do an investigative interview is as I mentioned earlier. That is a mandatory procedure that must be undertaken by Miss Audrey and Miss Karin as witnesses" Mr. Adam told Mr. Rizal.

Mr. Rizal finally agreed to Mr. Adam's proposal, because he could not find another solution.

"Sir Rizal and Gentlemen, I ask permission to go back upstairs first" Tristan said suddenly.

"Yes, Tristan, please."

Mr. Rizal was astonished to see the change in Tristan's facial expression that seemed to be holding back anger.

Tristan took the elevator to the top floor and entered the finance division room. He saw Audrey sitting quietly at his desk with a pale face. Tasya, Susan, and Renita are trying to calm Audrey down and give her superiors drinking water.

"Mom, relax. They will definitely find the real culprit" Tasya said sadly.

Tristan passed Audrey and walked quickly to Karin's desk. The girl was sitting while wiping her tears with a tissue.

"Today, come with me for a moment" said Tristan, pulling Karin's hand.

"A..What's up, Tristan? Where are we going?" asked Karin surprised.

"Later you'll find out" Tristan replied forcing the girl to follow him.

Tristan's sudden action, made the finance staff who witnessed it became astonished.

Tristan takes Karin into the archive warehouse at the end of the third floor. With a quick movement, Tristan locked the door of the archive room and approached Karin.

"Tris.tan a.what do you want to do?" ask Karin in fear.

The usually cheerful eyes of Tristan turned cold.

"I know you slandered Audrey. You better confess now!" bentak Tristan's.

"I don't know what you mean?"

"Don't know??? You're very good at acting, Karin. You didn't come to lunch with us, because you were planning to put the envelope in Audrey's cabinet. You think you're a clever girl, but you're a very amateur."

"Tristan, why are you accusing me? Audrey's mom is my boss and she's very nice to me. I can't possibly do such an evil thing. I can sue you for defamation" replied Karin trying to evade.

"Try me, if you dare. I have evidence of your crimes."

"Evidence? What evidence do you mean?"

"Do you remember what happened two days ago? At that time there were only two of us in the finance room. I feel suspicious of your actions. Moreover, I saw you take something from Audrey's desk drawer. I secretly followed you from behind. I also recorded what you did when you threw that flash drive into the trash."

Karin's lips turned pale after hearing Tristan's words.

Tristan pulled out his phone and showed a short video recording. The video shows what Karin is doing very clearly.

Karin tries to beg for mercy from Tristan while crying.

Tristan paused for a moment and turned towards Karin.

"You're trying to make up a story again to save yourself?"

"Alright, Audrey. Let's go now to the meeting room to meet the auditors."

Mr. Rizal walked in front of Audrey and opened the meeting room door. At that rectangular table, Mr. Adam and Mr. Leon were ready with laptops and some audit papers.

"Please sit down Miss Audrey. We would like to ask you some questions regarding the loss of checks and deposit money from customers. Please Miss can cooperate with us and answer every question as detailed and honest as possible."

"Well, sir, I'll definitely say everything I know."

Audrey and the auditors' conversation came to a standstill, when someone knocked on the meeting room door. Mr. Rizal who was sitting next to Audrey, hurriedly stood up and opened the door.

"Tristan, Karin, what's going on?" asked Mr. Rizal surprised.

"Sore, sir, Karin wants to come in and say something about the money and the missing cheque" Tristan said.

"Oh, Miss Karin, please sit down. We were looking for Miss. Miss's description is very necessary," said Mr. Leon let Karin sit down.

"What do you want to say, Miss Karin?" keep Mr. Adam looking for a clue.

With a trembling voice, Karin began to speak.

"Sir, I actually put the envelope in Audrey's cabinet at lunchtime. I pretended not to know the loss of checks and deposit money from customers. I accidentally put the money and the check into an envelope and secretly put it in Audrey's cabinet. I want Audrey accused of being a thief."

Audrey's eyes widened to hear Karin's confession. He did not expect the girl who had always looked innocent and reserved, could do bad things to him.

"Jeez, Karin! Why are you doing such a lowly thing?" asked Mr. Rizal as if he did not believe it.

Karin got up and ran away from the meeting room. Audrey who saw Karin leave while crying tried to chase after the girl. However, Tristan's hand quickly held him back.
