Chapter 1: The Former Prince

Cheers could be heard from afar on a field in the beautiful city of Lykort. There are many lush forests and fertile soil. The cheering sound grew louder after one person came forward and then another person with compulsion came forward. The two people looked at each other and sneered.

"Come!!" a few shouts cheered up one of the people in front.

Kei Lyroso, a sixteen-year-old teenager who has advanced amidst the people who have made a circle around him. In front of him was Cayden Heron who had also stood in the middle of those people.

"How's Kei? do you want to fight with me or you will go home and be a coward forever." - Cayden.

Kei did not mock back. He just silently stared coldly at Cayden who was laughing mockingly with his friends.

"Oh look at him. Looks like he's pissed off." ridiculed Cayden again. All of their friends started laughing out loud.

"Stop all this and give me back my Cayden book." Kei said at last.

"Ahhh... this junkyard book?" Cayden held a book in his hand. "Do you want this book? take it then. But you have to fight me first, you coward."

Kei was silent again. She knew Cayden would not return the book easily but she wanted it back, her sister's book. He thought hard how he could get the book without having to fight Cayden. Kei took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

"Oh look, it looks like he's praying." booed Cayden again to the laughter of his friends. "Pray to keep you whole when we fight. All right, then."

Cayden undressed and showed his hard, formed muscles. For sixteen year olds, having a body shape like Cayden is amazing. Cayden stretched his arms and legs, then his neck.

"You ready for Kei?" Cayden grinned happily and soon turned into a very large wolf and a dense gray hair. Cayden howled loudly. Cayden's friends cheered happily. Only Kei and his two friends were silent.

"Key, do you really want to fight him? are you sure?" whispered one of Kei's friends, Tim. Kei did not answer. Kei remained silent and closed his eyes. He wants to calm down and concentrate. He did not want the mistakes he had made when he was little to be repeated.

"I don't want to fight Cayden." said Kei finally and gave up on getting his book back. Kei opened his eyes. "Let's go."

Kei and his two friends, Tim and Ruben, turn around and walk away from Cayden. An enraged Cayden leapt high and landed right in front of Kei. Tim and Ruben were shocked and immediately stood behind Kei. Cayden growled furiously. His saliva came out of his mouth. Kei just stared at Cayden coldly and fearlessly on his face. Cayden lowered his torso slightly, preparing to lash out at Kei. Cayden growled again and jumped towards Kei. Tim and Ruben had already covered their heads with their hands. Kei prepares to change himself while Cayden is still in the air. Just before Cayden touched Kei, Cayden crashed to the side. There's another werewolf in there. The wolf snarled loudly at Cayden. Cayden immediately got up and growled back. Cayden was not afraid of the wolves attacking him. Cayden jumped up and attacked the wolf whose body was slightly larger than his. The two wolves were fighting. Cayden threw his sharp nails into the wolf's body and tried to bite it. But the wolf was not a comparable opponent to Cayden. The wolf is stronger. The light brown wolf slammed into Cayden. Cayden got up and tried to attack again, but still could not defeat the brown wolf. The wolf's head hit Cayden firmly. Cayden was lying on the ground. His breath sounded exhausted. The brown wolf jumped up and was now on top of the tired body of Cayden wolf. The brown wolf growled violently.

"If you dare disturb Kei again, I will tear your little wolf's body apart and I don't care who you are" the wolf said with his mind.

Cayden heard the thought of the brown wolf. The wolf released its grip and Cayden immediately ran away from the field with all his friends. The wolf was still looking at Cayden who had disappeared from his sight then turned to Kei who was still in his place.

The wolf then turned into a handsome brown-haired and slightly long figure. The man was bare-chested. Looks like his stomach muscles are heavy. He walked towards a large enough rock on the side of the field and came to Kei.

"Are you okay?" asked the man while wearing his shirt. Kei who had started walking paused for a moment and only glanced at him a glance then immediately passed away. "Hey...!!"

Kei walked away with Tim and Ruben.

"Can't you walk any slower? why is your road so fast?" ask the man who has caught up with Kei. Kei did not answer the man and kept walking even faster. Even his two friends were left behind.

"Well, you're really fast." praised the man. Suddenly Kei stopped and looked.

"Can you stop following me?" asked Kei coldly. "Stop following like a lost puppy."

"Yes, of course, when you get home safely, I will stop following you" the man said. Kei looked at him more annoyed than he was staring at Cayden.

"You're such a bitch." Kei continued his fast path again.

"Yeahh I've heard that before" said the man who was still trying to align himself with Kei. "Hey, shouldn't you be thanking me? I've helped you."

"I never asked you to help me" Kei replied coldly without stopping walking and turning his head.

"That's right." the man nodded his head. "But can you face that spoiled child?"

"I can handle it."

"With silence when he attacks you? I feel-"

"Aarrhghhh....!!!!" kei's yelling made the man and his two friends who were walking some distance behind him startled. "Can't you just shut up?! And stop following!!!"

"You know I can't even if I want to. If you really want me to go, ask your parents."

Kei snorted annoyedly at the man before him. He was so upset that this man in front of him always meddled in his affairs making him a child who was alienated by other children and labeled coward. Moreover, the man never left his side, making him unable to move freely.

"Are you angry?" ask the man. The man observed Kei's face red with anger. Kei turned his face away. Suddenly the man smiled widely and immediately poked his right hand into Kei's neck.

"AAAKKH...!!! the funny! When you're angry, you're the funniest kid I've ever met" the man said.

Kei shouted and thrashed, trying to let go of the man's hand. But the man's grip just got stronger. The man's left hand rattled Kei's dense black hair and pinched Kei's cheek. He did not care for Kei who was already screaming hysterically, saying the swearing even hit his hand. Ruben and Tim laughed amusedly. Suddenly the man stopped and saw that two girls of Kei's age were in front of them.

"Hi, girls." greet the man while shuffling Kei's hair. His right hand is still on Kei's neck. Kei quickly looked towards the two girls who had been laughing amusedly looking at Kei. Kei lowered his head in embarrassment.

"He's funny, right?" the man asked the two girls in front of him while pinching Kei's cheeks. The two girls were increasingly laughing amusedly and passed from them.

"justified? they just thought you were cute and adorable" said the man without caring about Kei who was already unusually embarrassed.

Kei managed to let go of the man's hand and moved away a little from him. He looked at the angry man in front of him.

"Let's walk again..." The man looked at Kei then he leaned his face in front of Kei. "... Kei's sweet and funny."

The man passed by while laughing happily. Tim and Ruben passed Kei with amused laughter.

"YYYYYYYY....!!!!!!!" pekik Kei called out the name of the man.

Kei descended lazily towards the dining room. His mother called him to dinner. But Kei's not feeling well tonight. He didn't want to eat dinner and just wanted to stay in his room. But her mother promised that if she didn't come down for dinner together, she would lock her up for a week. Kei didn't want that to happen. Kei finally agreed to dinner.

In the dining room was already his father, Oston, who was sitting at the dining table. Kei's father was wearing a brown sweater and had glasses. Her hair was as black as Kei's. Kei sat next to his father. His father smiled when he saw his son coming down and sitting next to him. There was the sound of cheerful steps. Kei's sister, ten-year-old Aira, came and sat down next to her brother.

"Well, this time Aira came alone without being called, great son." praised her father. Aira smiled proudly.

"Of course, whose son he was." His mother commended him. Kei's mother was sitting next to her father as well.

"How was your school today Kei?" ask father.

"School is school. What did you expect?" kei said coldly.

"Key, don't talk to your father like that!" mother's protest. Kei's father touched his wife's hand.

"It's okay." Kei's father calmed his wife down.

"He'll keep talking to you like that, baby."

"He's in puberty, let it go" Kei's father said. "I used to be like that, too. They like to do what they like and do not care what others say. Even my parents." His father laughed considering his teenage years. Kei's mother just sighed.

Kei ate in silence. He didn't even listen to what his family was talking about. His family laughed occasionally. Only Kei remained silent. His father noticed Kei who was always silent. His father knew of Kei's change. The warm and cheerful Kei turned cold overnight since that incident. His father tries to stay close and friendly with Kei, but Kei keeps away and shuts himself down.

Kei arrived at his school yard. Kei attended Royale Lycort High School. Kei is a smart kid. He is reluctant to be friends other than Tim and Ruben who have been friends since childhood. So if there's no Ruben and Tim, his friends are his books. Kei is also very popular among the girls at his school because of his good looks. Kei is athletic and perfectly white. His short black hair was always left somewhat messy. Many girls at school liked and idolized him. But Kei doesn't care. He was always cold and indifferent to everyone, making the girls' guts squeamish for a moment. Kei sat in the back of the window. He put headphones in his ear and started not caring around him. While several pairs of eyes were always paying attention to him, trying to attract his attention. But Kei didn't even glance at it one bit.

A knock on the table disperse Kei's daydream. Kei turned his head and found his two friends beside.

"This is really a child. We called you from earlier." The team started with his nagging. Kei took off his headphone.

"Someone gave this to you." Reuben gave a small and neatly wrapped parcel.

"I'm not having a birthday today and today is not a special day either" Kei said flatly.

"Maybe from your many fans" Tim said to be greeted with a nod by Ruben.

"Then you take it. I don't want to. If you don't want to take it either, throw it away." refuse Kei.

The absolute rule for supernatural balance.

The team takes Kei and Ruben to the cafeteria. The cafeteria at school was clean and tidy. A table can only contain four people. Kei sat down lazily. He didn't want to go to a noisy cafeteria, just wanted to sit and listen to music in class. But Tim kept persuading him to make him uncomfortable and upset. Finally, for the sake of silencing Tim, Kei complied. The team voluntarily took food for them. From a distance Kei sees Cayden with his wolf friends sitting in the middle corner of the canteen. Cayden was also the son of the alpha in the town. The alpha named Ordovic Cluston Laros is the one in power in Lykort. The Lycanthrope called him noble, for the werewolves, Ordovic was the king of the Lycanthrope. Ordovic not only became an alpha but also became king because of Lykort's long history of pack. Therefore Cayden became disinclined and became the prince of the werewolves. Cayden sneered sinisterly at Kei as their eyes met. Kei just looked coldly at Cayden's grin. He doesn't care who Cayden is and what he does. For Kei the most important thing is that Cayden doesn't bother him.

"Stop looking at him." said Ruben, who found Kei looking at Cayden.

"I didn't look at him" Kei said lying.

"That's right. I saw you staring at him earlier. Your eyeballs almost popped because of that." Ruben knew Kei was lying.

"I just don't like it."

"Normal people don't like Kei. But if you don't stop looking at him, everyone will think you're interested in him." Ruben suggested. "Or are you not interested in him?"

Kei turned his head and looked at Ruben furiously.

"Do you want to die? I'll happily kill you."

Ruben laughing. Before long, Tim brought three large trays containing food that he could hardly carry.

"Well, how can you carry all that?" Ruben is surprised his friend came up with three trays at once and then helped Tim. "People wouldn't have thought that you weren't a werewolf."

"I don't want to walk back and forth" said Tim immediately sitting down after putting his tray. He rubbed the sweat on his forehead.

"It's Kei, eat it." Reuben gave him a tray full of food and a spoon.

"I don't want to eat. Not tasteful." said Kei.

"When have you ever had a taste for a meal in the cafeteria? Every time we offer to eat, we don't want to" Tim said. He took Kei's right hand and placed the spoon on his finger. "Eat it even if you don't taste it. I'm tired of carrying all this."

"I told you I don't want to eat. You are the one forcing. I'm like a child." said Kei. Kei finally complied. He was lazy to argue with Tim, because it can be ascertained he will lose.

"Hai Kei.." the greeting voice stopped Kei who was about to scoop his food into the mouth. Kei turned his head and found a beautiful girl standing next to him. Kei looked at the girl then turned his face away and started his first mouthful. The girl looked nervous.

"Hey Lyra..." The team finally answered Lyra's greeting.

"Hi Tim." Lyra replied to Tim. He was a little disappointed not Kei who replied to him. "Hey, is Saturday busy?"

Kei was silent for a moment. "Maybe." she finally answered. Kei still stuffed his food into his mouth without looking at Lyra.

"You won't" Lyra spoke, Kei stood up and carried the tray with which he had plenty of food away, without replying to Lyra. Lyra bowed. Tim and Ruben panicked to see the sadness and disappointment on Lyra's face.

"Uhm... Lyras.. Hold on, let me persuade Kei first." The team ran towards Kei who had already lost his sight.

"H wait for me." Ruben ran. He did not want to be stuck in an awkward situation alone.

Ruben and Tim search for Kei's whereabouts. In the toilet, in the classroom, but Kei's whereabouts are nowhere to be found. Somehow Kei was able to quickly disappear. Eventually Tim and Ruben gave up and chose to return to class because the lessons would start again. While near the class, Ruben saw a familiar back, Kei's back. Reuben ran and hit Kei with a hard back, making Kei groan in pain.

"Where are you from? We've been looking everywhere for you." Ruben scolded.

"Why look for me? I'm not a kid anymore. Uhh.... It hurt" Kei said while still stroking his back.

"Lyra how's Kei?" ask Tim.

"What?"

"What how? He was gonna say something. Why are you leaving?"

"I'm not in the mood to listen to a girl's request." said Kei as he passed.

"Based on cold wolves! If you keep like that, you won't be able to have a boyfriend!" Tim started to get annoyed with Kei's cold attitude.

"Good then, so I don't have to take care of girls." Kei replied at will. Tim breathed an annoyed sigh.

"What about mate?" ask Ruben.

"How's what?"

"You don't want to have a mate too?"

"Okay, maybe." said Kei as he passed.

"Why do I have a friend whose coldness exceeds the summit of everest." Tim patted his jidat. While Ruben had already stroked Tim's back to make him calm.

"Or don't-don't you.... You've been all this time..."

"Hey, hey, hey, hold that thought." Sahut Kei fast.

"That's right?"

"Of course not! I'm still normal! Very.normal."

"I don't believe, I don't believe. This is big news." The team walked quickly ahead of Ruben and Kei.

"That's not true! You—comehere you!!" Kei chased after the Team who had already run away from Kei.

"Based on both of them." Ruben could only sigh deeply.

Kei walks home with Tim and Ruben. Their houses were unidirectional despite being far apart, especially Kei whose home was at the far end of the city of Lykort. Kei just walks around in silence while his two friends start playing around, sometimes chasing each other and tickling, like a child.

"Hey Kei, are you sure you're going to reject Lyra?" ask Tim. Kei did not answer.

"Come on. Lyra was the prettiest in school, popular again." added Ruben. Kei was still silent.

"I really don't understand him. He was so handsome, even the girls of one school liked him, but he seemed to be wasting his good looks. Too bad."

"Stop talking about that. I'm tired of hearing it." Kei said at last.

"But Kei, Lyra's-"

"Geez!" Kei snorted in annoyance. "Why are you guys so annoying?!"

"What's? Why are we so annoying? You should be the one who is annoying!!" reply Tim who also started to get annoyed at Kei.

"What did you say?"

"Gosh, why are you two fighting?" Ruben was confused to see Tim and Kei fighting. He doesn't want to side with anyone. Without them noticing, behind them was Cayden and his friends.

"Well, well, wow, look who we found" he said. Kei, Ruben and Tim turned and found Cayden standing behind him. "One weak common man, one weak werewolf and one former prince" Cayden said.

Kei rolled his eyeballs and turned to leave Cayden. He's not trying to serve Cayden's shitty attitude.

"Are you going to keep running, former prince?" Cayden started with his words to lure Kei mad.

"Don't bother me Cayden." said Kei.

"Don't bother me, Cayden." Cayden imitated Kei's words but in a mocking tone. All his friends laughed. "Stop running away coward, fight me."

Kei didn't bully him. He keeps walking with his friends. An irritated Cayden ran and stopped right in front of Kei.

"It's a good thing that Lykort no longer has a prince like you." Cayden stared at Kei sharply. Kei just stared at him flatly. He tried his best not to get caught.

"Stop Cayden, don't bother Kei." said Tim finally. Tim knew even very well that Kei didn't want to fight with Cayden. Cayden turned to Tim and looked annoyed.

"Don't interfere in my business" said Cayden coldly. He disliked the ordinary humans who meddled in his affairs the most. More ordinary people.

"Then don't interfere in other people's affairs." Tim stared hard. He knew he shouldn't be dealing with someone like Cayden, especially knowing that Cayden was a werewolf that was definitely much stronger than him. But he's sick of seeing Cayden not stop bothering Kei. Cayden, angry, came to Tim who was standing not far from him.

"What did you say?" ask Cayden. His face was red with anger. "How dare you."

Cayden's eyeballs, which were originally hazel, are now pitch black. The team retreated slowly to see the color change of Cayden's eyeballs, which meant that Cayden would soon be enraged and turn into a wolf. Suddenly Cayden pushed firmly onto Tim's body. Team is far away. Although Cayden did not turn himself into a wolf, Cayden was still very strong. Cayden went to where Tim was. But Ruben stopped him.

"Stop Cayden, please. He could die" Ruben said. Cayden.

"Do you want to replace him?" ask Cayden. Reuben. He knew he would not be able to fight Cayden even though he was a seragala human as well. Cayden pushed Ruben's body away from him and returned to the Team that was already standing in a daze. Cayden pulled Tim's collar.

"I'll kill you today." whispered Cayden. Tim's face was filled with fear. Body shaking. He knew he was going to die today. A hand touched Cayden's hand.

"Stop it." said Kei flatly. Cayden slams Kei's hand and releases his hand from Tim's collar.

"Some one has dared to look." Cayden smiled cynically.

"Oh there's Lyra and Keyra." said one of Cayden's friends. They all look.

"Hi Lyra, O Keyra." said Cayden who suddenly turned sweet. Kei just stayed where he was not even looking.

"What are you guys doing there?" ask Keyra and come to them.

"That's okay." Cayden turned Kei face the two girls and placed his left hand against Kei's neck. Kei could only grind his graham and snort in annoyance. "Male business only. Where are you guys going?"

"Come home. Hai Kei." said Lyra but Kei didn't reply, just averted his eyes.

"Hey, didn't you hear? Lyra greets you!" reprimand Keyra.

"Then?" asked Kei coldly. Keyra's face instantly turned irritated.

"Here you go, don't ignore this former prince. Want me to drop you off?" tawar Cayden's.

"No, we're fine." An irritated Keyra turned around and pulled the hand of her twin sister. "Let's go Lyra." he said, annoyed, and left immediately.

Kei threw Cayden's hand off his shoulder. He went straight to the team and swept it away. Suddenly Cayden pulled on Kei's back shirt and pushed him strong.

"Who said you could go?" cayden said. Kei who fell to the ground immediately stood up.

"I'm sick of you, Cayden. Get out of my life!!" sahut Kei was full of anger.

"No, you get out of my life, get out of here. No one needs you here. After all you're not a prince anymore, you're just an outcast." Cayden laughing. "And don't forget to take your disabled father away."

Kei's getting angry. He doesn't like it when someone insults his family. Kei shouted loudly and ran towards Cayden then pushed his body strong. Cayden crashed but quickly restrained his body from falling. Cayden smiled triumphantly. He finally managed to anger Kei. Cayden always bullies Kei just to make him angry and turn Kei into a wolf. Kei could always hold back his emotions, making Cayden almost desperate. But today Cayden knows, Kei can still lose control once again. Cayden ran and threw his fist at Kei. Kei sniffed fast. Cayden continued to raise his fists, occasionally launching kicks even though none of them hit Kei.

"Fight me coward. Don't dodge. Hit me!!" Cayden tried to make Kei more angry and it worked. Kei punched Cayden in the face. Cayden fell down and got up and quickly ran towards Kei. Cayden punches Kei in the face and hits Kei's left cheek. Kei's body floated after Cayden kicked his stomach. They have not yet turned into wolves. Cayden is still waiting for Kei to change. But Kei still doesn't want to change. He could still hold back his emotions. Kei got up and immediately pushed strongly Cayden's body into the large tree near them. Kei pressed Cayden's body against the tree. Cayden tried to escape. But Kei was so strong pressing him. The tree began to crack and had started to break on its side. Kei's impulse began to weaken. That gives Cayden a chance. Cayden advanced slowly then hit Kei in the face and kicked him. Kei fell on the ground.

"Is it just that? why don't you take out the monster?" Cayden started again. Cayden pulled Kei's collar and raised Kei's body to keep Kei's face parallel to his.

"Cayden Heron Laros, Kei Lyroso Laros. stop it!!" a heavy voice behind them. They all look. Cayden and Kei's dad were there with Ian. "What are you guys doing? what's the matter?" ask Ordovic, Cayden's father.

Cayden took his hand off Kei and tidied up his dirty hair and school uniform. Kei did the same. All of Cayden and Kei's friends are already prostrating.

"Key, what's going on?" ask Oston, Kei's father.

"There's nothing" Kei said as he lowered his head.

Kei and Cayden have the same last name. Ordovic and Oston are siblings who make Kei and Cayden cousins and it's Kei's worst nightmare.

"We were just playing around. Nothing serious." replied Cayden.

Oston looked at Kei's face. There was a wound on his forehead and his sleeve was torn.

"Stop messing around and get home soon." Ordovic ordered. Kei and Cayden nodded.

"Did you please help me?" pinta Kei's.

"Of course, sir." said Ian. Kei's father asks Ian to be with Kei.

"Let's walk again my brother." said Cayden's father. "Cayden, you go with me and get your friends home."

Cayden and Kei's father leave Kei, while Cayden follows his father from behind. Ian pointed two of his fingers in his eyes and then at Cayden. Cayden just smirked.

Kei cleaned his dirty clothes while Cayden's friends were gone.

"Are you okay Kei?" ask Ruben who's got Tim. Kei nodded.

"I'm doing fine. What about Tim?" Kei looked at Tim's situation. There was blood on his lips. Apparently he was very strong.

"I'm fine." said Tim while trying to smile and endure the pain simultaneously.

"I really don't understand. What's with that spoiled kid? Why does he always bother people? too bad I don't exist. If only..." Ian slammed his fist into the other hand.

"What are you doing with him?" kei asked without heeding Ian's words earlier.

"Him? ah, alpa Ordovic? they were talking about something." replied Ian.

"Is it harmless to leave your own father with that person? then why are you here? you should be by my side and protecting me from that guy."

"Your father told me to be with you. I'm your bodyguard, not your father. There's my dad with your dad so don't worry." replied Ian. "But you can't be a little polite? she's she? that guy? he and that man are king and alpha Lykort now. I know you hate him, so do I but if the other wolves hear you, they'll catch you."

"I know and I don't care. To me he was the one who took my father's throne fraudulently." said Kei.

"I know it but it makes them have a reason to get rid of your family."

Kei was silent for a moment and then walked away.

"Bas with the boy." Ian shook his head.
