Ave's Pov

"Duh, why also use the ceremony of all. We're not kids anymore." Ayu with an upset face did not accept at her age who almost entered the head of two is still a ceremony at her campus.

"Remember not when we went to school in the past. Every Monday is a ceremony. Well that makes me spend the time Mr. Killer makes a speech. Oh my goodness. We're like dried crackers." Ayu shook her hand in anger.

"But you're missing, aren't you Yu?" I joked with a wink towards him.

"Who's same kangen?" It's because I marked it.

"Just like Mr. Killer." My answer was a terrible response from Ayu.

"You're all about Vel." Ayu cursed while chasing me.

Bruks.....

"Let's..." I accidentally hit someone.

"Are you okay?" Ask the young man I just hit. Ayu laughed at me.

"Sorry brother. I didn't mean it" I said, bowing my body.

"It's okay Vel. I'm fine." I raise my head. Handsome, athletic, black sweet. It seems I know who this young man is but forgot.

The nature of my forgetfulness is sudden.

"Kok brother know my name?"

"Me and my twin sister once came to the party mbak Raras. Remember no?"

Wait let me think first.

"Oh yeah. I remember now. His twin brother is the evil Gayatri, right?

"Evil?" Oops.wrongly speaking of me.

"Sorry Ave yes brother....."

"Dimas. Call me brother Dimas. Its nothing. Gayatri is like that but good."

Ya la wong brother. Defend his brother.

"Yes, brother. We're going to the field first. Fear later lecturer Hadi will be angry." Pamitku while dragging Ayu towards the field.

Every year in my college, I hold a flag ceremony. I was standing in the second row from the middle. I could clearly see Salim being the commander of the ceremony. His loud voice made the friend behind me whisper to the next friend if he liked Salim's voice.

We have been friends for a long time. If I don't remember wrongly when I was seven. Sorry I'm a heavy forgetful. Dad introduced me. Salim was eight years old. If you remember that, I just want to laugh. Little Salim used to be so squeaky aka skinny. Until Eyang Uti made a herbal concoction to make Salim fat. Salim always accompanied me to play ball, badminton, volleyball but I always lost. He always stood up for me when Eyang Yaya was angry with me and Salim was the one who received the punishment. No pocket money for a week.

"Smile yourself. What are you, Vel?" Rani looked at me who was standing to the left. My position is in the middle.

"You know this lady. Smile from earlier. Who the hell are you smiling at?" Ayu chimed in.

"It's definitely not that fat Alfan." Ayu grinned withholding her laughter.

"No. Ayu pretentiously knows ah."

We stopped the conversation when Mr. Hadi made a speech. Fortunately, the ceremony did not last long. I can finally go home because today's lesson was not done.

"Vel, may I visit your house sometime?" Brother Dimas approached you when I was about to go home.

"Hmm.can you sis but not by yourself. Bring a friend of the older brother or sister Gayatri." I said because Eyang Yaya will not give permission if the man comes alone as well. Could be bad later.

"Thank you Vel." Brother Dimas thanked me while bowing. It's like in a movie.

"Who are you going home with? Anterin's brother, huh?"

"No need, brother. Someone picked me up. That's the guy." I pointed at Salim from a distance who was going to pick up the car.

"Oh Salim's. Yes already. Anytime, yeah," he said while riding his Tiger motorcycle.

Boro-boro riding a motorcycle riding an ontel bike should be a bonceng Salim.

"Non, stop by the plantation first huh. Pick up Yaya's eyes there." Salim said as I sat in the car.

I just cleared my throat. I was looking at Salim driving. He was wearing a white shirt with a tie wrapped around his neck. I realized that my childhood friend had become a grown man. This year he is 21 years old and will graduate because his brain is so brilliant that he took Acceleration class.

When did my brain shine as bright as dew? Erroneous means as clear as glass.

"Original,..." I called him slowly.

"Yes, what's wrong?" He looked back for a moment.

"Can you please don't call me Miss? Call that name." I protested because he rarely called my name.

"Let me talk to Malik. I'm tired of you calling me Miss since I was a kid."

"But non Ave......"

"If you don't want to. I jumped out of this car." I threatened a little when I was scared.

Salim braked suddenly.

"Don't miss. Salim will be angry."

"Don't call miss, Salim." I'm starting to get upset with Salim who doesn't understand what I mean.

"Yes non.eh Ave."

"That's donk. So good, right?"

"Let's walk quickly. Later Eyang Yaya was angry because he picked her up late."

"Yes Ve..."

I'd love to tease Salim. He will always follow what I say. If I pretend to threaten him. He will fear himself and obey.

Salim's Pov

This little miss of mine is annoying sometimes but somehow because of her nature it makes me love her and want to keep her from anyone. Like today. In my classmate's room trying to get close to my little miss. Am I jealous? Sure oes. Which man is not jealous when he sees his future wife close to another man.

Fortunately, good luck was on my side. When Dimas wants to play at Ave's house. Ave forbid if he goes alone there must be another friend.

We still hold fast to the customs from long ago. Where an unmarried or married woman is prohibited from speaking or going alone with a man if not her husband or family. Never time nonaku arrival a bunch of his high school boy riding a motorcycle. Eyang Yaya who came out to meet them. Instead of being angry even Eyang Yaya gave a message. They finally went home again. If they come home, they will be flocking with female friends as well. Eyang Yaya took care of his grandchildren.

When we picked up Eyang Yaya at the plantation. We did not go home and instead told Yaya to go to the office. There's something to talk about.

"Cah Ayu, your father wants to talk karo kowe lan Salim."

"Where's dad, Eyang? Miss Ave's habit is always not to say hello.

"Yo greetings sek. Ojo sakep dewe, Cah Ayu."

Miss Ave immediately retreated her steps and said hello to Eyang Yaya.

"Sir, what's calling us here?" I asked when we got to Mr. Brata's office.

"Loh dad's here too?" I'm surprised that you're also in Mr. Brata's office.

"Sit down first. There's something we want to talk about." Father on the sofa.

"Dad what the hell is it? Call Ave all the way here."

"Son, you'll be engaged in two weeks with Bagas and Dian's engagement." Brata to the Point.

Miss Ave choked on her food. I immediately patted his shoulder as he coughed.

"A really fast guy, huh?" Miss Ave is starting to take.

"Child wadon ora by sue-sue dating. Kudu fiancee sek keeps mating." Eyang Yaya suddenly appeared from behind the door.

"Was the goat told to mate fast?" Omel Miss Ave who only heard me beside her.

"Later after the fiancee. I want you and Salim every Friday and Saturday rehearsal to work here." Pakde Brata's orders cannot be denied.

"here? On plantation? There's Bagas, huh?" Cerocos miss Ave without pause.

"Mas Bagas' father was assigned to the city branch, Cah Ayu."

"Eyang Yaya said first. Girls can't work." Sela miss Ave.

"This is an exception said eyang Yaya. You have to learn what it means to make money. What kind of trouble? Later when dad retired. This plantation belongs to you and Salim."

"What about Bagas, sir?" I asked back because I didn't want any envy in Bagas' heart.

"Bagas has spoken to Pakde. He does not want to work on the farm. He wants to work in the city branch. You know for yourself, don't you? If Bagas is typical of young people who do not feel at home working in the office?"

"What do you think?" I asked father for his consent.

"Dad agreed to Pak Brata and Eyang Yaya's proposal." Father approved their proposal.

"If that's what Yaya and Pakde want. We'll do it."

"That's what we expected, Salim. You're going to teach Ave to run this family business" Mr Brata said, ending a small meeting today.

"Let's go home now. I can't wait to eat your mother's cooking. Oh, yeah, this pretty daddy's kid can cook, can't he?" Pakde Brata tagged his annoyed-faced son since earlier.

"Oh this father..." Miss Ave's pampered tone made me want to pinch her.

Couldn't Ave learn to cook and work, huh? 😊😊
