Tania PoV's
What an exhausting day. How not ? After a long argument with his supervisor, finally the submission of Tania thesis title was approved.
With a radiant face, Tania stepped out of her guidance lecturer's room. He decided to go straight back to his room.
Tania did not want to wait any longer - one or two weeks later, she would leave the hustle and bustle of Jalarta and go out of town.
For field research (empirical) methods, Tania will go to remote areas to study the Nutritional Development of Mothers and Toddlers - and of course, she will celebrate her birthday there.
Tania chose Margaluyu Village, one of the villages located in Sukaraja Subdistrict, Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province.
Soon his studies will be over and he will get a job soon. Her mother's burden will definitely decrease as Tania will definitely help fund Zain's tuition, the only younger brother she has. Zain is still a Grade 2 High School.
His mother worked as a teacher, as well as his father. The age of his mother is still young enough to continue to run his profession because of the cost of education of his two children are not small.
Tania's father has long since died - a bus accident and all the passengers have nothing to save. Tania was 17 years old at the time.
Tania breaks down her body, grabs her hand and sends Mike whatsapp messages. He has to tell Mike - he usually decides to tell Mike first.
"Mike, what about your days ? Long time no see ya. I hope you're okay."
Tania put the phone next to her. While waiting for a reply from Mike, he hugged his pillow roll and closed his eyes. He's really exhausted.
Almost an hour or so - he regained consciousness and grabbed his phone. He saw three missed calls from Mike. Immediately he played his finger on the screen, typing a message for Mike.
"Mike, I overslept. I'm sorry."
After waiting for a while but no answer, Tania went to the bathroom and cleaned her body.
Mike PoV's
The time has shown at 20:30 WIB. Mike stepped into the parking lot after he finished his duties. He then drove with his motorcycle to the boarding house. He bought himself a pack of fried rice for dinner.
Arriving at the boarding house, he opened his shoes and placed them under the table. His bag was hanging on the wall near the table. Mike reached his hand into his pants pocket and pulled out the phone from there.
"Message from Tania, do you miss me, Tania ?" Mike muttered with a smile as he read a message from Tania. Mike chose not to reply - he called.
Mike tried three times but had no answer. He then put his phone back on the table and stepped into the bathroom to clean his body.
Mike stepped closer to the table after he was done wearing clothes - he saw a message again from Tania. But he ignored her - opening the packet of fried rice and eating.
I'll call you back after this Tania. I know you miss me.
Mike plays his finger on his android screen, chooses Tania's name and quickly makes a call. Just on the second call, Tania answered her call.
"Hello, Mike. Sorry, I fell asleep. I didn't hear a call from you. I'm exhausted" Tania said after sliding her finger on the phone screen.
"Alright, Tania. Its alright. Tell me, do you miss me ?" Mike asked, starting to flirt.
"Hehehe, no," Tania replied laughing as she hung her towel on the clothesline in front of the hostel.
"What are you doing today, Tania ?" Mike asked again.
"I went to my guidance counselor to submit my script title and praise God, it was approved" Tania explained.
"But,, "Tania did not continue her words.
"What's up Tania ? Is there a problem ?" Ask Mike quickly.
"I have to get out of town, Mike," Tania replied quietly.
"You're serious ? Can't you postpone it after your birthday, Tania ?"
"I don't want to put it off, Mike. My birthday will be there by myself" replied Tania slowly.
"But I have to,,,,,"
"But what, Mike ?" Tanya Tania was curious.
"No. You keep the spirit yes" replied Mike quietly.
"If you want, follow me there," Tania said firmly.
"You're serious, Tania ?" Mike asked in shock.
"Did I sound like I wasn't serious ?" Reply Tania confidently.
Mike scrunched his forehead. His heart is beating great. He realized his plan had failed and now Tania was challenging him.
"All right, wait a minute" said Mike not budging at all.
You know what ? I want to see you standing in front of me when I close my eyes and pray.
Tania was silent. Actually he did not want this but he was forced to take this decision so that the lecture was finished quickly.
Mike fought a great war against his own mind. The plan he had investigated with Mega had failed. The one ringing in her ears now was Tania's challenge.
"Get yourself, Mike. I hung up on him. During sleep. Good dreams," said Mega after they kept quiet.
"Alright, Tania. Yes spirit. May God protect you. Success for her research, Tania," Mike replies quietly.
Tania hung up the phone and turned off her room light and went to sleep. As for Mike, his mind is still raging.
She held her hair, thinking hard.
He put down his phone - his mother's face plastered on his android screen gave off a smile.
Mike looked at the silent picture and looked at his mother's smile. A smile that is so sweet but hides a myriad of sadness - left alone by her only son, taking care of her husband's legacy.
Mike rubbed the phone screen right on his mother's face. She imagined her mother's sweet smile which showed absolutely no sadness in her heart.
"Mom, I miss you. I hope you're healthy, I'll be home someday, Mom. I miss you," Mike said. Without realizing it, there were tears dripping down his cheeks.
"We will be together again. I'll definitely be home, Mom. Pray for me, may my work be smooth, my studies successful and always kept away from all the dangers of death" murmured Mike again.
Mike let his eyes continue to stare at his mother's photo. His hand was still stroking the face of the woman who was no longer young. Tough women, who live alone, take care of their small businesses, which almost no one complains about.
Everything seems fine. In his heart, he harbored a great longing to meet his son. He once said, asking his son to go home to see him but Mike has not kept his promise.
He locked in tightly to his biggest longing - he rarely called Mike. Sometimes Mike called just to ask him how he was doing and also about their small business he was working on alone.
Mike wiped his tears, took his cell phone, brought it closer to his face and then he kissed his mother's picture.
"I miss you Mother" he said again.
