Today even a month Kinanti became the wife of Darian Chatra Wijaya. The only son of the Wijaya family. And that means Kinanti as their only daughter-in-law.
And really like living in a fairyland, Kinanti was treated like a queen. For the past month, Kinanti and Darian have been living with Darian's parents despite Darian's own opposition.
"Mama wants you to stay with Mama and Papa here, Ian." Pinta Mama when Kinanti and Darian just returned from their honeymoon.
"It's an objection, Ma. Ian already has a wife and wants to live Ian's own life." Answer Darian steady.
But after a discussion, Darian finally agreed to his mother's request on the condition that they only stay one month at the home of his parents. Kinanti thought her life would be like an ash-upik married to a rich family. Where her two in-laws would only be good in front of others and actually treat Kinanti badly.
Fortunately, Kinanti's imagination never became real. Both of Darian's parents treated Kinanti very well. Even too good. Kinanti is not allowed to touch any homework and is only obliged to take care of a Darian.
"Ti, you don't have to bother like this. For the kitchen and home business let Bi Siti do it. It's all Bi Siti's job." Said her mother-in-law when she saw Kinanti struggling in the kitchen one day.
"Yes, Non. Let Auntie do everything. Don't wait for a break." Connect Bi Siti while tidying up Kinanti's work.
"But Kinanti wants to make a special meal for Darian, Ma. Can't it?" Ask Kinanti confused.
"Then that's okay, but it's enough for Darian. You don't have to be tired of doing housework, Ti. Later if you're tired, you're hard to get the baby." Advice from her mother-in-law to Kinanti.
"The mother wanted to have a grandchild. That's why you have to be healthy to get pregnant quickly." Mama Darian continued her words.
Kinanti just smiled awkwardly. Indeed, he has no obligations like other wives. But on Kinanti's shoulder there was a huge burden that was really heavy. Born the first heir of the Wijaya business dynasty.
The only thing lacking in this perfect life is the love of her own husband. Kinanti was sure that there was not a single speck of love in Darian's eyes every time he looked at her. But Kinanti believed that Darian would eventually accept it. Even hard stones can be destroyed over time by raindrops. Especially a human heart, right?
...****************...
Today is the day of Kinanti and Darian's move from Darian's parents' second home. Quintessentially scared of what would happen next. Not because Darian's house isn't as big as his parents' house. That's not really a concern for Kinanti. He was worried about Darian's feelings for him. What if that love would never grow and in the end Kinanti would live locked up in a golden cage?
"Ma, Pa, Kinanti pamit huh. Later Kinanti promised to play here often to meet Mama and Papa." Said Kinanti while kissing the hands of her two in-laws.
Mama Darian looks disappointed at having to let her single son and daughter-in-law out of their home. But they can what? It's only natural that a married child wants to start his own life, right? And to be honest both of Darian's parents hope that by taking off Darian and Kinanti herself, Darian can slowly change. Starting from being more gentle to being able to love Kinanti fully.
"Well go, Ma, Pa." Said Darian, saying a short goodbye, then got into his car.
Kinanti then followed him into the car. Before long, the four-wheeled machine rolled and brought the two split the yard of Wijaya's house. The car then exits the magnificent gate of Darian's parents' house and disappears behind it.
The new house that Kinanti and Darian will occupy is not far from Darian's parents' second house. It may be only 20 minutes away by car. And the house is also no less magnificent with the house in-laws. If Kinanti's house-in-law is thick with classic nuances typical of the old rich, then Darian's house is the opposite. Minimalist modern touch with monochrome color is very visible both exterior and interior. The house looks luxurious but seems cold and there is no warmth in it.
"This house is exactly like Darian. Cold and stiff." Inner Kinanti when entering the house.
"Come in. Now you'll stay here with me." Said Darian coldly while walking ahead of Kinanti.
Kinanti followed and followed behind Darian who was tall and large. Darian went up to the second floor of his house and was followed by Kinanti. He opened a black door that blocked the room. It looks like a room.
When the door opened, it looked like a large, very luxurious room. It does not have an excessive interior but the impression of expensive is very attached in it. A large bed with black wood was installed in the center of the room. Dark gray sheets typical of single men cover his mattress and create a masculine impression.
"This is our room?" Ask Kinanti in doubt.
Darian just nodded and walked away from Kinanti towards the bathroom. Kinanti sat on their bedroom mattress and her eyes looked around.
"So this is what it's like to live as a sole heir? Living alone in a house this grand." Gumam Kinanti.
Darian had finished his bath and came out of the bathroom. He was bare-chested and only wore a towel tied around his waist. His athletic body is perfectly sculpted like a sculpture made by a renowned artist. Despite having seen Darian in her undressed state, Kinanti still felt stunned to see her husband. It was so perfect this man in front of him.
"Why? You have often seen me not dressed. No need to be amazed like that, Kinan." Darian said when he realized his wife was looking at him.
Kinanti. His cheeks were red and he immediately turned his face away from Darian. And Darian just laughed looking at Kinanti's fluttering expression.
"Where are you going, Mom?" Ask Kinanti who saw Darian changing but not with house clothes.
"I want to go. Maybe tonight I don't come home so you don't have to wait for me." Answer Darian briefly.
"But where are you going?" Kinti asked back.
"It's none of your business." Said Darian then left Kinanti who sculpted.
But still even though Darian told her not to wait for him to come home, Kinanti still did that like a stupid donkey. She sat in the living room of her luxury home alone with the question of where her husband was going. Time and again Kinanti glanced towards the wall clock. Seconds changed minutes and minutes changed hours, but Darian's figure did not return. And in the end Kinanti fell asleep in the living room because she was too tired to wait for Darian to come home.
...****************...
Kinanti wakes up to be awakened by her phone that reads. She thought it was a phone call from her husband but it turned out that her mother-in-law's name was listed there.
"Hello Ma? Why Ma?" Ask Kinanti.
"You just woke up, honey?" Ask Mama Darian to Kinanti.
"Ah, yes, Ma. I woke up bad luck." Said Kinanti feeling bad.
"It's okay, Ti. Mama understands, really. You must be too tired to serve Ian all night, right?" Temptation of her mother-in-law.
Kinanti just laughed awkwardly. Trying to hide the fact that her husband hasn't been home all night and gone somewhere.
"Oh yeah, you get ready, Ti. Mama will pick you up at 12 p.m. We're having lunch and shopping, yeah." Invite her mother-in-law to be enthusiastic.
Kinanti agreed to the invitation. It's so good to be the wife of a conglomerate. No need to be busy setting aside money just for shopping. Since becoming the daughter-in-law of the Wijaya family, Kinanti always shop with her mother-in-law and it is done almost every day. If Kinanti wants something, then she just pointed it out and her mother-in-law will immediately swipe her black card to pay for the item.
After agreeing to her mother-in-law's invitation, Kinanti immediately turned off the phone. Then Kinanti was about to move to enter her room, the front door of her house was open. Kinanti was silent, waiting for who would enter.
"You just got home, Mom?" Kinanti asked as she looked at the figure of Darian who had just returned home.
Kinanti looked at her husband's clothes. That dress was different from the one he wore last night. That means Darian spent the night somewhere and no matter who. Because Darian looks neat as a shower and well taken care of.
"Yes. Don't tell me you waited all night?" Tanya Darian investigated.
Kinanti just nodded slowly.
"Basic fool. I told you, I'm not going home." Darian said flatly and left Kinanti to leave.
Kinanti's heart ached hearing those words. Does waiting for her husband to come home make her a fool? Is worrying about her own husband an act of a fool? At least if not as a wife, has Darian ever seen Kinanti as a human being?
Kinanti's tears dripped. He rubbed it quickly. He was worried that Darian would get even more angry if he saw her cry. Kinanti felt that maybe this was her fate if she married someone who did not love her.
