No matter how desperately Kinanti defended herself, it seemed that the outcome of this fight had been set in the first place. Even with the help of his father-in-law's best friend's lawyer, there was not much that could be done to free Kinanti. Every evidence and testimony leads to Kinanti. As if every piece of the puzzle was neatly arranged by a reliable player.
Today is the day that the final trial of Kinanti will take place. For the last three months the trial was conducted with a short pause as if this case should be completed as soon as possible. And today the verdict on the fate of the next Kinanti will be read out. The continuation of Kinanti's life will be determined today. Either he will become a free man who can live as before or be locked behind bars for the rest of his life.
Kinanti painstakingly stepped her feet towards the courtroom. The pregnancy of her twins has entered the age of eight months. A normal woman would even have trouble getting out of bed. But Kinanti instead had to walk towards the sickle seat carrying her growing belly.
Kinanti's lawyer walked beside her while holding Kinanti. The old man was his father's age. An old lawyer named Binsar Hutapea. It has been very attentive to Kinanti since the beginning of the conference until now. Perhaps the old lawyer remembered his daughter who was the same age as Kinanti.
"It's so heavy for your life, son." Said Mr. Binsar when he first met Kinanti.
From the beginning, Mr. Binsar knew that the police had arrested the wrong person. His years of experience gave him the ability to discern which ones were villains and which ones were not just a single look. And Mr. Binsar believes that Kinanti is not included in the first group. It was the circumstances that trapped Kinanti until she had to be mired this deep alone.
"Are you sure you can come to the hearing today, son?" Ask Mr. Binsar while leading Kinanti through the corridor of the court.
Kinanti paused for a moment. His breath was breathlessly carrying his increasingly heavy body weight. He looked at Mr. Binsar with a smile.
"Can, Sir. You'll be with me so I'm sure I can get through it." Saying Kinanti steady.
Mr. Binsar just smiled pityly looking at this young man in front of him. How could a woman of Kinanti already face such a heavy problem? He is not even thirty years old but Kinanti has become a convicted murderer planning his own in-laws. Mr. Binsar's heart crumbled to see Kinanti who was pregnant old had to go through various trials in his life.
"Where is your husband, son? Why have you never seen him?" Ask Mr. Binsar while sitting next to Kinanti.
They were sitting in chairs outside the courtroom. Waiting for his name to be called to the trial.
"Come, Sir. I don't know either. Maybe now he's partying with his girlfriend." Answer the Quintessence plan.
Since Kinanti was arrested and detained by the police, Darian has never visited Kinanti. Never mind visiting, calling to just ask the news of Kinanti Darian never did. It's so cruel Darian. How he left his pregnant wife just like that when he knew Kinanti needed her most.
Every time he met Kinanti, Mr. Binsar always learned new facts about this young woman. And every time it was her mother's taste got bigger. It felt like he was helping Kinanti to be free from all charges. But no matter how hard he tried, every defense and witness he submitted was always rejected outright. It was as if every trial had already set its course and determined the outcome by someone.
A woman in a clerk uniform came out of the room and called out the name of Kinanti.
"Mother Kinanti Anindira, please come in to attend the trial." Said the woman.
Kinanti looked at Mr. Binsar with hope that was already almost charred. With the rest of his final smile, Kinanti expressed her hope to Mr. Binsar.
"May the results given are the best yes, sir."
Mr. Binsar could only smile and stroke Kinanti's head attentively.
"Hopefully yes, son."
...****************...
The hammer has been tapped three times and the verdict has been dropped. Kinanti is officially accused of premeditated murder of her two in-laws. Due to various considerations from the judge, Kinanti was only sentenced to ten years in prison. That means Kinanti has to languish for ten years behind bars for a crime she never even thought of.
Kinanti sat down to hear the judge's decision. Never did he think that a simple decision to marry the sole heir of Bara Kahuripan would lead his life to this kind of misery. Kinanti thought he would live in a pool of treasure and a life full of comfort. But now he has to face the harsh reality of entering the black record as a criminal.
"Are you okay, son?" Ask Mr. Binsar worried.
Mr. Binsar is concerned. His heart was broken to see this young woman having to go through a very bitter and precipitous life.
"We can still appeal, son." Said Mr. Binsar trying to comfort Kinanti.
Kinanti shook weakly.
"I can't stand it anymore, sir. I don't have that kind of money to continue the trial and I don't have anyone else by my side to defend me." Weak Kinanti.
Everything was reduced to ashes. All the dreams, hopes, and ideals that I had ever imagined had been charred by an invisible fire. Now there is nothing in his future but darkness. After suffering from living in the shackles of poverty during his childhood, Kinanti still has to feel the bitterness of living behind prison. Whether life is indeed unfair or Kinanti only who is destined to have bad luck.
Two female wardens approached Kinanti with their faces looking fierce.
"Come Sister Kinanti, you must come with us to move to the courtyard." Say one of the female guards while pulling the resigned Kinanti.
Mr. Binsar disagrees with the treatment. His hands swiftly prevented the two guards from being rude to Kinanti.
"Kinanti's brother has not lost his human rights. I'm begging you to keep treating him with respect." Said Mr. Binsar firmly.
Kinanti lowered Mr. Binsar's hand which prevented him from being carried. His mouth hinted Mr. Binsar to end his resistance. Honestly, Kinanti's energy had already been drained out in this fight. He could only accept his fate.
The two guards led Kinanti out of the courtroom and walked towards the prisoner's car parked behind the building. In the middle of his journey, a handsome athletic man stood before Kinanti. A beautiful woman with a cross-faced face was beside him and was affectionately holding the man. He knew who the two people standing before him were.
"Dance? Hanna's? What are you guys doing here?" Ask Kinanti.
The two people smiled meaningfully looking at Kinanti who had been handcuffed. The man approached a few steps towards Kinanti.
"Thank you for your sacrifice, Kinan." Said Darian while whispering to Kinanti.
Kinanti. What sacrifice? What does Darian mean?
"What do you mean, Mom?" Ask Kinanti for an explanation.
"Thanks to you, I can get it all. The assets of my parents, my assets, Bara Kahuripan, and even soon I will marry Hanna. Well, what can I do without you, Kinan? I seem to owe you a lot." Darian said with a mocking smile.
"All this? This whole mess is you and Hanna? You killed Papa and Mama and set me up?" Shouted Kinan furiously.
Hanna laughed and walked over to Kinanti as well.
"No, it wasn't us who did it. Everything is destiny, Kinanti. Unfortunately fate gave you a bad card. Very bad." Said Hanna while looking down at Kinanti.
Kinanti. He was annoyed and wanted to hit these two monsters in front of him. All this mess and trouble is their doing? Butwhy? Is it just because they want to get rid of Kinanti? Is it that much hate Darian so much that he was willing to sacrifice the lives of his parents just to kick Kinanti from his life? Even if Darian asked her directly, Kinanti would willingly walk away from Darian's life!
Kinanti revolted and wanted to attack Darian but the two guards who were with her immediately held her firmly. He pulls her away from Darian and takes her forcibly into a prisoner's car. Kinanti's eyes were still staring at the two vile humans who were now behind him. They both laughed as if they had won a big bet.
The flames of anger engulfed Kinanti round and round. From this day forward, he will uncover the truth and avenge the deaths of his two parents-in-law. Even though it meant that his hands had to be dirty and covered in blood.
