Life in prison is hard. No, Kinanti did not exaggerate it. Although he was used to living a difficult life, it was all incomparable to the difficulties he faced while in prison. Since one week ago, Kinanti officially bears a new predicate. Inmate Kinanti Anindira with number 257.
Kinanti lived with four other people in a 2x3-meter cell. Two inmates for the theft are named Siti and Maimun, a drug addict named Mitha, and a very quiet old woman. Until he entered his seventh day in the cell, he knew nothing of the old woman except her name.
The old woman was named Manisah. A good prisoner and always obey the words of the warden. He was also obedient to the schedule that each prisoner gave. It's just that Kinanti never saw him socialize or just greet the others. Not even exchanging smiles. How creepy.
From the first day he set foot in the prison, Kinanti was already one of the most popular prisoners. Who doesn't know him? The son-in-law of a wealthy family who murdered his own in-laws. Spicy innuendo has become the daily food of Kinanti. Not to mention the intimidation of other more senior inmates adds to the ups and downs of Kinanti's life in prison.
"Basar women don't know in profit!" Sindir one of the inmates as Kinanti passes through their cell.
"Based on a crazy woman!" Say something else.
"Basic lady bastard!" Add another one.
Women don't know in profit, crazy women, and even the bastard women. All the insults were nothing compared to the perploncoan that Kinanti experienced while in prison. Like no conscience, they also torture the physical and inner Kinanti in various ways. It doesn't matter that Kinanti is pregnant though.
In his second week as an inmate, Kinanti began getting light tasks such as cleaning the park and sweeping the prison grounds. Due to her already huge stomach, it was quite difficult for Kinanti to carry out her duties. Kinanti was sweeping the prison field with a broomstick when suddenly a group of inmates who were seen roaring toward him.
"Heh, new boy huh?" Asked one of the large-bodied women who appeared to be the leader of the group.
Kinanti nodded without answering.
"If asked, answer! Don't just shut up! Are you mute, huh?!" Excited the other woman while grabbing Kinanti's hair hard.
"Aragh!" Erang Kinanti felt pain.
"Buy us a cigarette now!" The orders of the female lead were on the Kinanti.
But Kinanti was confused. How could he get a cigarette in a place like this? Is it not forbidden in prison?
"But how can I get a cigarette here, ma'am?" Ask Kinanti confused.
"It's none of our business! Just buy us a cigarette now!" The orders of the fat lady were cruel.
Kinanti walked through the prison field. His eyes scattered all over the place looking for where he could get a box of cigarettes. He asked everyone and they only gave the name of one prisoner. Kartika the occupant of cell number 12.
Finally, Kinanti managed to find the female inmate named Kartika. His body was thin and his eyes looked sunken like an addict. But who would have thought, this tiny woman is the most wanted inmate in prison. The reason is especially if it is not because of its ability to supply all the needs of inmates. From cigarettes to gigolos.
"Kartika Mbak?" Ask Kinanti in doubt.
Kartika. His eyes were staring at Kinanti.
"What do you want to buy?" Reply Kartika directly.
Kinanti placed her index and middle fingers on her lips. Cue like a person smoking. Kartika laughed to see it.
"You're crazy. The stomach is almost erupting still smoking." Kartika did not believe it.
Kinanti only chuckled and did not reply. Never mind, no matter who is going to wear this cigarette, it's important that Kinanti has bought it.
"This. Keep the right and don't get caught." Kartika tucked a box of cigarettes into Kinanti's hand.
Kinanti. His head turned to the right and to the left to observe the situation. After feeling safe, Kinanti walked back to the prison field. The place was sweeping and also the place where the gang of bully women were waiting for him.
But upon returning to his original place, Kinanti did not find a group of sangar women who had told him to buy cigarettes. All he saw was a female warden with a fierce look. His gaze was sharp like a knife that would hit Kinanti. Kinanti realized, he was in big trouble.
"Eh, I'm from the bathroom, ma'am." Answer the lie. Besides, it's impossible for Kinanti to say that she had bought a cigarette, right?
"Don't lie to you! I've been waiting for you here for half an hour! How dare you run away from duty, huh? Look at your work! It's still a mess and you've left it!" The warden again.
Kinanti looked around. Trash and leaves that he had collected and piled in one corner of the field, are now scattered again. The field that had been almost clean, returned to a mess like it had never been swept.
"Damn it, this must be the wits of that fat lady!" The Kinanti in heart.
"You must be punished! Meet me after you complete this task!" Tell the female warden to leave Kinanti to suppress her anger alone.
...****************...
Kinanti massaged her achy body. The punishment of the female warden was no joke. Kinanti was told to mop up the hall where the prisoners gathered with a piece of cloth. Plus Kinanti had to do it in a state of major pregnancy. Maybe the word achy alone will not be able to represent the crumbling of Kinanti's body.
The cell door's open. He lifted his head to see who was coming in. It turned out that Ms. Manisah came while carrying food. Maybe for himself. But unexpectedly, Bu Manisah stepped towards Kinanti. He sat down next to Kinanti.
"How many months?" Ask Ma Manisah to open her voice.
This was really the first time that Kinanti had heard this old woman's voice. What is stopping this old woman so she wants to talk to Kinanti?
"Eh, is it Mom?" Kinanti asked again confirming Ms. Manisah's question.
"your pregnancy. How many months are you pregnant?" Ask Manisah again.
Kinanti looked down at his stomach and stroked it.
"Nine months, Mom. I should have given birth soon. I don't know why there are no signs yet. Looks like my baby hasn't gotten out of his place yet." Say Kinanti with a smile.
Ma Manisah smiled gently at Kinanti. He then stroked the rounded belly of Kinanti.
"Your son's a twin, huh?" Ask Manisah again.
"Yes, Mom. How did you know?" Kinanti replied surprised.
"Just feel. Your stomach is bigger than your usual pregnancy." Answer Ma Manisah.
Kinanti only nodded in a sign of understanding. Both of them were silent again. Confused about what to talk about.
"So I saw you meet Kartika." Ma Manisah said ending the silence between them.
"Yes, Mom. I was told by the inmates there to buy their entourage cigarettes." Kinanti said while pointing to the cell where the group of illegal inmates had gathered.
Bu Manisah looked towards the cell and nodded in a sign of understanding.
"Other times, you don't have to obey their orders. Look at the consequences, you got a sentence from the warden, right?" Advice from Ma Manisah to Kinanti.
"But what if they hurt me, ma'am?" Said Kinanti worried.
Ms. Manisah smiled and patted Kinanti on the shoulder as if trying to clear her unrest.
"Just calm. Nothing will happen to you."
