Since the death of her son, Kinanti has spent much of her time contemplating. Sometimes all day he just sat daydreaming in his cell. His gaze looked far away. The light of life in his eyes was now faded. Kinanti seemed to have no more spirit to continue living.
His cellmates also pity with what befell Kinanti. How not? After struggling to live in prison in a state of pregnancy, now the child he had been waiting for instead just left because of the negligence of a system. They are confused as to who is to blame. Should they blame the negligent guards? Or should they blame an overly cruel fate on a good woman like Kinanti?
Kinanti is now more silent. It has been even a week since the departure of his son and there has not been a single broken word that came out of his tiny lips until now. Several times Bu Manisah invited him to chat but Kinanti only answered him with a nod or a mere somersault.
The tragedy was a very heavy blow for Kinanti. Not only did it shatter his spirit, the misfortune even snatched away his every ambition to take revenge on Darian.
"Brother Kinanti, it's time for your health checkup." Said one of the guards to Kinanti.
Due to the recent incident that befell Kinanti, the prison gave Kinanti some leeway. One of them gave Kinanti a health examination until her physical body was completely recovered. Today is his second medical examination.
Kinanti looked at the warden emotionlessly and nodded. Without saying a word he followed the warden who was walking in front of him. A few minutes later, Kinanti arrived in front of the prison clinic. The place usually has a guard doctor who is in charge of examining prisoners who have health complaints.
That day, Kinanti did not know the doctor who was on guard. A man with glasses and a mask. Kinanti never saw him and she thought maybe the man was the new doctor stationed here. Kinanti does not care much and only follows the existing procedures. Without resisting, Kinanti went in and laid her body on the clinic bed. Kinanti just stared blankly at the ceiling.
Inside the clinic was only her and the mysterious man's doctor. The doctor then approached Kinanti and removed a syringe filled with fluid inside.
"Do you know me?" Asked the man's doctor in a tone that was difficult for Kinanti to interpret.
Kinanti.
"I am your angel of death Kinanti. I'm assigned to kill your life here now." Whisper the doctor in Kinanti's ear.
Kinanti. His face turned towards the man.
"Just calm down, it won't hurt, Kinan. I feel bad if you suddenly die without knowing what the cause is, so I told you this before you died at my hands. Let you not be a curious spirit." The doctor's joke was cold.
But there was not the slightest fear in Kinanti's eyes. He laughed weakly while staring blankly at the ceiling. The man was puzzled by the reaction of this woman before him.
"Why are you laughing?" Ask the doctor in wonder.
"It turns out Darian told you to kill me, huh?" Flat Kinanti.
The doctor was silent.
"Please kill me with all your poison. I don't give a shit. There's no point in living any longer." Kinanti said as she looked at the doctor straight into her eyes.
Instantly the man fell silent. His heart was tapped hearing the resigned words of this woman lying before him. And the two beautiful eyes that were staring at him seemed so clearly harboring many wounds. The man was involuntarily caught in the beauty of the two wry eyes that were staring at him deeply. Attracted in a beautiful face that still looks shining even though the owner already does not have the spirit to live.
The man sat down. He dropped the syringe that he was holding. He realized that he would never take the life of this fragile woman before him. The man was already stuck with the beauty that Kinanti exuded in one of her meetings.
"I'm sorry." Lirih.
Kinanti. Why did this man abandon his intention to finish off Kinanti? Kinanti got up and approached the man who was now sitting before her.
"Why? What are you thinking?" Ask Kinanti confused.
Both of Kinanti's hands held onto the man's shoulders and her eyes looked at the man deeply. Sending thousands of electric shocks to the man's nerves gives a clear signal that he has fallen in love with his own target.
"I'm sorry, I can't finish my job. I can't kill you, Kinanti." Lirih.
Kinanti held both of the man's cheeks. Cupped his face in his tiny hand.
"What are you thinking? Failing to kill me means your life is in danger, right?" Kinanti said slowly.
"I don't care about that. What is clear is that I can't harm you, Kinanti. Now please, get out of here and don't tell anyone what's going on." Send the man to Kinanti.
Along his way back to the cell, only one question was in Kinanti's head. What just happened to the killer?
...****************...
Poets say love is blind and they are never wrong about it. Falling in love with Kinanti makes the man determined to keep returning to the prison clinic in order to meet his female idol. He even applied to be made a permanent doctor at the prison clinic.
The man was always looking for an excuse so that Kinanti could meet him every day. Either for a routine checkup or ask Kinanti to clean the clinic by herself. Like that day, the man told Kinanti to come to the clinic on the grounds of wanting to check on Kinanti's health. Although everything is just a mere reason so that he can enjoy the beauty of Kinanti and soft voice of the woman.
"Come, Kinanti. I want to check your health." Said the man inviting Kinanti in.
"But I'm fine, Doctor." Reply Kinanti confused.
"just enter. There's no harm in getting a vitamin supplement, is there?" Say the man with a smile.
Kinanti complied and sat down before the man. The man smiled and looked like he was writing something down on paper.
"Are you not curious about my name? We've met many times and you always call me Doctor." Said the man while looking at Kinanti kindly.
"Do inmates like me have the right to know your name, Doctor?" Ask a gentle Kinanti.
The man laughed.
"Even if you're an inmate, you're still a human being, Kinanti. And a man has the right to know anyone." Said the man.
Kinanti smiled. What a beautiful smile. The man met red just by looking at Kinanti's smile. It was actually made to bend the knee by Kinanti.
"Then may I know your name, Doctor?" Ask a friendly Kinanti.
The soft voice entered the man's ear like a beautiful melody. The longer he gets crazy about this woman.
"My name is Niko Orian Rainer. But you can call me Niko, Kinanti." The man named Niko answered with the sweetest smile he ever let out.
"It's nice to meet you, Niko. I hope we can be good friends." Reply Kinanti again.
Niko's heart is blossoming. It was as if getting the green light to become closer to Kinanti. Niko eagerly extended her hand, shaking Kinanti's outstretched hand first.
"I'm also happy to know you, Kinanti."
