Fugitive Woman

Fugitive Woman
The Great Change

Kinanti can only sit pensively. Since last night his mind has been empty. Everything still feels like a dream. It felt like yesterday the day after tomorrow he still met and ate with his two in-laws, but now his two in-laws were already lying stiff in front of him. Her tears had dried up from crying all night. His eyes were swollen and his stomach had not filled a mouthful of rice for more than 12 hours.

The mourners came one by one. Kinanti just looked at them blankly. Everyone who comes is the same as those who are guests at their wedding. It was just that that day the look on their faces did not seem happy. There is only sorrow and concern. Both of Kinanti's in-laws were very good people. Inversely with his son. It is therefore no wonder that many feel lost for their departure.

A couple who seemed to be the same age as her late in-laws came to Kinanti. The wife immediately hugged him and stroked Kinanti's back. Trying to help ease the sadness he was experiencing. And the husband looked down saddened to see a Kinanti that looked not careless anymore.

"Your father and mother are good people, Ti. Aunty is sure they will be given the best place there. Don't be sad anymore, honey. Poor baby you will be sad too." Advice the old woman while holding onto Kinanti's face with both hands.

Kinanti only nodded weakly. It felt like his lips were too heavy to let out a word. The woman's husband also smiled affectionately at Kinanti like how her father-in-law used to do.

"You can do it, Ti. If there is anything do not hesitate to ask for help to Om and Auntie yes. We'll always help you." Said the old man while patting Kinanti's shoulder slowly.

And again Kinanti just nodded while saying thank you quietly. His voice had run out from roaring in tears since last night.

When the mourners came in turn, so did the people who accompanied him at home. Each was busy pacing the funeral of his two in-laws. The Kinanti family was with him to accompany Kinanti. And some of the domestic assistants who work at her in-laws' house have also been around since last night. Everyone who had a relationship with his two in-laws was there. Everything except his own son, Darian.

Kinanti had given up on contacting Darian. Thousands of times he has called and even asked Darian's secretary to meet him but every effort has been fruitless. Darian could not be reached and could not be found anywhere. Kinanti is moved to find Darian at Hanna's house. But let alone his home address, even the real form of Hanna Kinanti never met in person.

Suddenly there was a noise coming from outside the house. Kinanti wondered what was happening? Who made a riot in a grieving house? Before long a group of men and women dressed in police clothes came and entered the house. You're confused, why are there cops here?

Kinanti's eyes then caught the figure of Darian walking in front of the group. His face looked red and his eyes looked puffy. Where's Darian? Did she cry all night because she lost her parents? But what do you want Darian with that many cops? Everything seemed confusing to Kinanti.

"He's my wife, sir. The daughter-in-law of this house, Kinanti." Said Darian while pointing at Kinanti.

A policeman and a police officer came to Kinanti. Their faces looked ugly and scary. Why did they approach Kinanti with such an intimidating aura?

"Is it really the sister named Kinanti Anindira, the daughter-in-law of Bambang Father and Mother Sudiro Wijaya?" Ask the police in a firm tone.

Kinanti stood up from her seat and nodded slowly.

"Yes right, sir. What's the matter, sir?" Ask Kinanti confused.

"Saudari Kinanti Anindira, you are arrested on charges of premeditated murder of Mr and Ms Bambang Sudiro Wijaya. Please come with us to the police station to be questioned. You can call a lawyer if you mind going through the examination alone."

Kinanti stared back at the police before her. A winanti? Killing his own in-laws? What kind of shit is this?

"For more details we'll tell you at the police station, ma'am. Now come with us first." Tell that cop.

A policewoman then held Kinanti's hand firmly so that Kinanti would not run away. Everyone was confused by the drama that was happening before them. Some people even whispered as if they knew that Kinanti was a criminal. But Kinanti himself had no idea what was going on. What mistake did he make that he became a murder suspect?

Kinanti came out of the magnificent house escorted by a police troupe. Every pair of eyes were on the Kinanti. Even those who were just passing by stopped to see for a moment the commotion in the house of the rich. But Kinanti's eyes were only on one person, Darian. And not far from the man, a woman stood among the mourners. The woman he had only seen through photos. The woman Darian calls her lover. A woman named Hanna.

Thousands of why appeared in Kinanti's head. Why did Darian just show up in the morning? Why was Darian silent and not defending him when Kinanti, his wife, was being led to the police station? Why did Darian seem to know what was going to happen? And why was Hanna also in her in-laws' house standing among the mourners?

Kinanti could only ask herself while feeling her body being dragged away. Step by step and finally got into the patrol car.

...****************...

"I can't kill my in-laws, sir! I'm not a madman who can do such a thing, sir!" Kinanti defended herself.

"But the evidence all points to one person and that is you, Ma'am. We found a piece of hair inside the hood of Mr. Bambang's car. And that's Mom's hair. The last call from Bu Bambang's phone was also to Mom's phone. All leads are pointing to Mom." A police officer is determined when interrogating Kinanti.

Kinanti. This was the first time he was in a police station. And now he has to sit as a suspect and be showered with thousands of questions that corner him. Kinanti was alone and no one defended her.

"Do you know what caused Mr. Bambang's car accident?" Ask the police cold.

"What's the cause?" Kinanti asked again because she honestly did not know at all about it.

"Bluong. We found that Pak Bambang's car brake cable had been cut with a sharp object. And we found Mom's fingerprints on the cut wire." The police replied firmly.

Kinanti. What crazy person would do such a horrible thing? His father and mother-in-law were very good people. How could anyone conspire to eliminate them?

"I can't do it, sir! Just look at my situation! For walking alone I have trouble, how could I possibly get under the car just to cut the brake cord?!" Kinanti cried out in disbelief.

"But I'm sorry ma'am, for now we have to arrest Mother because based on material evidence, she is a suspect in this premeditated murder." The police said that the officer.

Minutes later, two policewomen came in and took Kinanti forcibly out of the interrogation room. Kinanti could only follow them while her body was dragged against her will. Kinanti was put in a holding cell and had to wait for 48 hours to find out her fate.

It all happened so fast like a movie playing. Yesterday he had just lost his father-in-law and now Kinanti was locked behind bars for a mistake he never made. His life changed 180 degrees in less than twenty-four hours. One thing that Kinanti believes, whether he really will be free or not at all, which obviously from this moment on his life will be very difficult to live.
