The Side Away

The Side Away
After two years

The past is only a part of the memory that must be forgotten. Laura did not regret letting go of her feelings for Gino. If Gino had held her hand even tighter, Laura would not have slipped from the shackles of her past. Nor would he meet someone better than Gino. Now, two years after Gino's decision to end their relationship. Laura found her own happiness. Live life in New York as usual. He continued Miranda's restaurant business after the woman died. And one year ago, the business was growing so much that Laura was able to afford an apartment. On the weekends, she spends time with Lucy. His best friend had a beautiful daughter and of course David was the father of the child. The two married after Laura arrived in America. Simple wedding. But it has a deep impression on Laura. Seeing Lucy happy on the wedding day, the fear of a bonded relationship begins to wear off. Slowly, Laura began to open up to others. Make friends with new people in the surrounding environment.

"Lala, you're late again!"

Laura gave a small smile as Jessica, Lucy's daughter approached her while the woman's loud cry she ignored. Laura kissed Jessica's fat cheeks and held the child over to Lucy and David.

"The restaurant is crowded" said Laura then put Jessica on her lap.

"Laura is a hard worker, you have to support her" David said.

"Fucking mario!" lily was upset.

"What's wrong with Mario?" ask Laura.

"His wife is pregnant with her second child, she's gone crazy! Yuki hasn't even turned one year, I don't know what medicine she's using!" lucy shouted and then threw her phone on the table.

Laura forgot one thing about Mario. The man married shortly after Lucy got married. And Laura doesn't believe that the woman Mario married is Rahma. That accidental coincidence caused Laura to have to come to terms with the past. Although Lucy did not support the marriage, Laura did not say anything about her relationship with Rahma. And the secret was well kept because Rahma agreed to her request.

"Lucy calm down, you're scaring her" Laura said as she rubbed Jessica's hair. Lucy's anger is uncontrollable while David just silently watches. "Mario's mouth you can't interfere. Besides, you've never been bothered."

"I don't like Mario getting married to that woman" Lucy said, rising from her seat. "I'll go to the toilet for a second, you guys order food like you normally do."

"Laura, do you want to hear from Gino?" david asked seriously.

Laura shakes. "No."

"I keep saying it." David rested his back on the back of the chair. "Gino is married."

Laura gave a small smile, feeling funny with that serious expression of David.

"Then, what does this have to do with me?"

"Laura, did you really forget about it?" david asked seriously.

"It's all gone, I have to look ahead. David, don't talk about Gino. I don't want to hear it anymore" Laura said.

The atmosphere turned silent until Lucy returned with a dead red face.

"Lusa I must have been to Aussie. Mario, you just wait till Mom brings you home" Lucy said.

"Don't interfere in Mario's affairs, he's an adult. Watch your attitude in front of Jessica and Laura. You're married, but you're acting like a baby" David said, rising from his seat. "I'll go home first."

"You just left me and your son!"

David is different from Jason. If Jason, he wouldn't have said those words to Lucy. It seems like the relationship between the two is filled with quarrels.

"Lucy, are you happy after marriage?" laura asked seriously.

The right choice after a day spent with Lucy and Jessica is to soak. Laura leaned her head against the wall, feeling that cozy atmosphere with thoughts drifting at David's words.

It turned out that Laura could not get those words out of her brain. Half an hour later he came out of the bathroom and grabbed his phone. In the next second, Gino's voice greeted his ears.

"Lala?"

"Congratulations No." said Laura with a faint smile, she walked towards the balcony while sipping her coffee. "On your wedding."

"Have you heard from David?" ask Gino from across.

"Yes." Yeah."

"La, I'm sorry for making my mistakes in the past."

"I thought, after that night, I didn't have the courage to talk to you No." Laura smiled faintly even though Gino could not see that smile. "It turns out, I don't hate the same old days" he said honestly.

"I hate myself as much as I do La." said Gino.

"You say stars shine even if they're in different places, but that analogy is not right for you."

"Sorry La."

"I never had time to say goodbye to you No, but tonight I want to make peace with the past. It's not just the feelings that need to be shut down, but you that I can't miss. We are no longer two people who love each other like the past. Time cannot be replayed and happiness cannot be bought with money. This analogy is more precisely aimed at you No."

Silent.

Winter air in December before the turn of the year, meaning that three years Laura did not meet Gino. And that feeling disappeared somewhere.

"No, I hope you're happy" Laura said, ending the connection.

Love shouldn't have shouldn't apply to Gino. However, he had no choice but to obey his mother's last wish. If it wasn't for Mira's will before she breathed her last. The marriage will not happen. However, Gino is only an ordinary human being who must obey the wishes of parents as a sense of filial piety.

Now, Gino has lost his loved ones. First her father then Laura and now her mother. He looked at his mother's grave once again and left the place. His phone rang while Gino was in the car. Laura's name appeared on the screen, she almost dropped the object to her surprise. Two years ago Laura left without saying goodbye and now contacts her. A feeling of longing infiltrated into his heart, he still loved the girl, but what was the point now?

He's already married.

The conversation flowed without a burden as if Laura had forgotten about it. Gino heard nothing but his head was filled with Laura's shadow. However, the ring on his ring finger resuscitated Gino from his daydream. Moreover, the connection has ended and Gino is still in his place.

Good luck?

Gino had forgotten the meaning of happiness after Laura left his life. Now, he doesn't need that happiness to get on with life.

"You can turn Laura around."

Gino turned his head to the side watching the woman sitting beside him. "No need to Jeng. Besides, we're married" he said and drove his car away from the place.

Being married to Ajeng never crossed Gino's mind. After Malik died in an accident and Ajeng was pregnant and his mother felt guilty. Gino will not be a victim of their selfishness.
