CHAPTER II Inter-Academy Tournament

2.2 Academy Tournament.

Many people crowded in the middle of the Academy city. The atmosphere of the Academy city was also very crowded in contrast to the usual. It turned out that they all welcomed the arrival of the kings from all over the kingdom.

The first time the king came was the king of Harlequin with a green shirt and a silver crown on his head. Behind him was Shahir, the bodyguard of the king of Harlequin.

Not long after that appeared a yellow-haired person with complete armor on his body. It was the king of Magnolia that was the king of Laxus. He was accompanied by two bodyguards on his right and left.

After that came the king of Uruk kingdom, king Rohan. He used a typical royal uruk shirt shaped like a brown robe and his head was wrapped around a black cloth. He also appears to be pointing a saber-type weapon upwards. Beside him is a 20-year-old prince of Gilgamesh who is said to be his successor in the near future.

Next came the king of the Imperial kingdom, King Felix. He wore a blue-colored robe on his back and blue armor on his body. Behind him were two bodyguards: a brunette and a silver amor. Beside him was the person I knew who was Okhie.

A while from the arrival of king Felix seen the king of the Roman kingdom come. His king, Loke, wore clothes made of white cloth and had a head covering. Beside him was a female bodyguard with black hair and a very sharp gaze.

Soon the king of Clover came. His king, Monspeat, was seen bare-chested in a black robe behind him. Following behind him was the previous king Galan and two guards wearing black and red masks.

The kings came to the Academy city to watch the tournament between the 4 best academies in the world. The six of them stood up to welcome the young shoots of hope throughout the kingdom.

The first Academy is the Academy District which uses black uniforms that have been adjusted to their respective jobs.

The second academy is Waltz Academy which uses light blue uniforms that have been adapted to their respective jobs.

The third academy is the Academy Tower which uses a red uniform that has been adjusted to their respective jobs.

The fourth academy is Float Academy which uses white uniforms that have been adjusted to their respective jobs.

All the training students who attended the tournament stood in the middle of the field. This is the opening show. King Laxus became a king who gave a speech representing other kings.

"Welcome, young people. We kings have been very enthusiastic about supporting this event. We didn't just come to watch. However, we are obliged to give you encouragement and support. Our hope is the creation of flowers that bloom beautifully and strongly. So do not hesitate to burn your young souls. Hopefully this activity can spur the fighting spirit and show the importance of the struggle. And don't forget that we are all one. One Nusantara" said king Laxus in a speech.

After that the king of Laxus and other kings left the field accompanied by the applause of the audience around the field.

The first day is just the opening ceremony in the morning. In the evening, a friendly party between all participants and the kings was held in the Academy District building.

As usual Nadha dragged me around here and there while tasting the food available. In the back, Robin followed with a smile looking at our behavior.

The three of us quite caught the attention of all the invited guests. Including the king Harlequin who smiled wryly at the behavior of his daughter.

"Quick recall a little dong way, then hunt down the food on the table," said Nadha while continuing to pull me.

"You're not ashamed to be noticed by Nadha's people?" I asked a little nervously because of the attention of many people.

Suddenly a man of our age came to Nadha. He's wearing the uniform from Waltz Academy. His hair is brown and looks very handsome.

"Hey lady how about you let go of your servant behind and enjoy the party with me" said the man who approached Nadha earlier.

"Who are you?" nadha asked the man.

"My name is Reza from the royal nobility of Magnolia. It's nice to meet you" said the man very politely.

"I have nothing to do with you" Nadha casually replied and immediately left Reza.

Reza looks very surprised. Maybe this was the first time he had been rejected by a girl. He just stupefied without saying anything and his face described disappointment.

"I'm sorry for our daughter, yes" Robin smiled as she patted Reza on the shoulder.

An announcement about the tournament schedule was made. There are five agendas that will be carried out in this year's academy tournament:

Opening and friendly party.

The first challenge: Test the ability. This challenge tests all physical abilities, intelligence, magic or skills, and runes. So this challenge is an individual challenge. If one fails, the other will fail.

Second challenge: Survival life. This challenge must complete a special mission and will take effect the knockout if the participants cannot survive or do not complete a special mission for a week in the Myth Forest.

Third challenge: The struggle between individuals. This is to determine the ability of individuals in the party so that it can determine the winner by fighting.

The first test is the ability test. I think these tests are used to look at our individual capabilities. If our individual ability is good enough then we will not make it difficult for the team members who are with us. That was the core I caught from this test.

All participants were in the Academy District sports hall. Very many spectators sat in the stands away from the main square. The kings sat on a stage close to the field that we would use for tests of physical ability.

First day ability test.

Our physical abilities are tested through two stages.

The first is running around the arena. One person should be able to run 100 rounds with a maximum time of one hour.

I have no problem with this exam. Nadha and Robin are no problem either. We ran without stopping until we reached 100 rounds. Other participants are the same. They all managed to run up to 100 rounds.

Both swimming and diving. We were transferred using teleportation magic to a lake near the Academy District. We had to swim half a lap after that dive half a lap until it reached 50 laps.

All participants also had no difficulty with this second exam. Actually I'm pretty sure that this physical exam will be passed by all the participants. Because before entering the training academy we have to have a very good physique so we need to do very hard training.

Second day proficiency test.

On the second day we were tested for writing exams. This test concerns the knowledge of the job, mythical monsters, and predicting an event.

For job material and mythical monsters I see no significant difficulties. For me, the time value of passing basic training, including the lowest, can still work on it.

But to predict the events, I had enough trouble. Because this really should be as objective as possible with what we think.

I kept scratching my head and often tried to look at the other participants. It was not just me scratching my head I said in my heart with a smile.

Even so that day we were able to pass without anyone not graduating. I faced my instructor and cried.

"I didn't expect my grad instructor to be this good," I said in tears as I showed the results of my writing exam that had barely passed. While Nadha and Robin are worth way above me.

"I'm not like you smart-brained monsters" I said replying to Nadha's taunts as I continued to shed tears.

"What do you say ha..," said Nadha so angry that she trampled me.

Third day capability test.

On this day we have to show the skills or magic that our job must have. According to instructor Lina her assessment was probably how effective and efficient it was when we used those skills or magic.

I have mastered the skills and magic of the thief.

Instinct: A skill that sharpens the ability to guess. Basic thief skill.

Fox hunt: Skill to take on something more dangerous. This skill can take organs in living things if successful. Advanced skills when you have mastered steal, acceleration and instinct.

Water: Magic to condense the water in the air. Low level water element magic.

Wind: Magic to control the air in order to ease the friction of the air around the user's body. Low level wind element magic.

Fire: Attack magic unleashed a small fireball. Low-level fire element magic.

Fog: Magic brings fog within a 100-meter radius around the user. This magic is advanced magic after mastering water, wind, and fire magic.

Meanwhile, Nadha and Robin have also mastered their skills and magic. We entered one by one in a closed room. Looks like we'll be tested in that room.

I went into the room earlier after Nadha and Robin entered first. I looked around the room. About ten instructors were in the room.

"Your training student, Remember, it's your turn to show us your mastery of skills and magic" said one of the instructors wearing a yellow suit.

"Each instructor," I replied firmly although I still did not know what I was going to do.

I was told to stand in the middle of the room and some instructors gave instructions in turn. They seemed to be testing the speed of activating my skills and magic.

Test fourth day capability.

Today's test was to test the cooperation ability between the tamer and his tamer monster. This exam is conducted in an open field and can be watched by outsiders.

A lot of people came to see the test this time. They look very enthusiastic because they want to see what kind of mythical monsters are partners of tournament participants.

At first I hesitated to call Escanor. Maybe because of the last incident where we both had a fight when training. It caused me to lack confidence when I entered the field.

"Come here Escanor" I said, hoping that Escanor could be brought together.

After that the rumbling sounds got closer. A bluish-green dragon descended from the sky while flapping its wings. The tail of the dragon looks like a sword.

"Whoaaaa," the audience's voice was gobsmacked with the appearance of Escanor.

Seen some instructors were amazed by the appearance of Escanor. Not just the instructors, the kings who were originally calm suddenly put on shocked expressions.

I looked at Escanor and vice versa. We both laughed in the middle of the pitch ignoring that this was a tournament.

I just thought that they were surprised that they had never seen a fafnir-type dragon. So because everyone's surprised expression around the field made me and Escanor laugh off.

"Uhuk uhuk," someone's voice broke the awkward atmosphere.

"Well the students of Kenang training, please show the ability of both of you," said one of the instructors who was outside the field.

I just practiced some of the basic combinations we both had taught Merlin. This I do so that the opponent does not know all my techniques and Escanor. I think just that is enough.

#Bonded techniques.

Dragon Throw, this technique uses the power of Escanor's hand to throw me towards the opponent. So it is very fast and difficult to see by the opponent.

Fire knife, a technique where my knife will be sprayed by Escanor so that it looks like a fire knife.

Fog instinct, the technique of using instinct skills on Escanor and fog magic. So that Escanor can fire a burst of fire right at the target in the fog and not hit me.

Those three techniques were the one that Escanor and I were demonstrating. Everyone stood up and clapped.

There are some mythical monsters belonging to other training students that I am very wary of. Like Mira's posiedon and Elric's durahan. In addition there is a mythical monster that is very interesting is a student partner named Razer. He was from the Tower Academy. The mythical monster is a type of Talos derived from the titan race. Talos is one of the mythical monsters that is not in the book of monsters that exist in humans.

Finally the initial stage of the exam was completed. And the whole team deserves to advance to the next round. No team has fallen.

After the announcement I, Nadha, Robin and instructor Lina gathered. We are talking about some opponents to look out for in the next round. While waiting for food orders to come we discussed.

"So who do you think is going to trouble you in the future?" ask instructor Lina to us.

"I'm probably from Waltz Academy anyway. The person named Reza had the mythical monster Electa of the elemental race. He was quite bothering me," said Nadha looking more serious than usual.

"Maybe I think it's from the Academy Tower called Razer. He has a mythical monster that is not recorded in the monster books," I said following Nadha's reply.

"So what do you think Robin?" ask instructor Lina to Robin who seems to be thinking.

"I think all of them have the potential to become troublesome opponents. Because we only get a glimpse of it" Robin said very wisely.

"Well, said Robin, no one knows what the next round of quest will do. So you have to be aware of all the participants" explained instructor Lina.

Finally our food came and we ate it.
