CHAPTER 35. Jade flute

***In the horse carriage***

Ying Ying stared intently at Wei Bu Yi's face to find out if Wei Bu Yi believed the story, but Wei Bu Yi's expressionless face made Ying Ying unable to guess Wei Bu Yi's thoughts.

"My dream is very real. Ying Ying couldn't possibly lie to me. Even now I have one hidden power since wearing this bracelet."

"What strength?" ask Wei Bu Yi.

Ying Ying waved for Wei Bu Yi to approach, then whispered in Wei Bu Yi's ear.

"I can hear from a distance. This secret is that only Prince Wei Bu Yi knows. I didn't tell Tan Xiang," Ying Ying replied.

"All right!"

Wei Bu Yi's short reply left Ying Ying dissatisfied and wanting to prove that he possessed a special skill that might help Wei Bu Yi later on.

Ying Ying was unwilling to become the weak girl who was always within Wei Bu Yi's protection. Ying Ying was also unwilling to become a burden but instead wanted to side by side with Wei Bu Yi to fight together against their enemies.

"I'll prove my skills!" said Ying Ying.

Ying Ying placed her index finger in front of her lips as a gesture for Wei Bu Yi not to speak, then focused her hearing in full concentration.

"Ouch! Why is the power of my long-distance hearing now gone?" inner Ying Ying.

Five minutes passed quickly and Wei Bu Yi was still patiently waiting. Actually Wei Bu Yi believed in all of Ying Ying's words because Wei Bu Yi had heard the story of the Fox Goddess from Queen Xu when she was a child.

Moreover, the broken bell pendulum bracelet let out a loud bell sound as well as a white light at the time when Ying Ying was in danger so it was definitely a magic item.

"Don't force yourself! You can prove it next time" Wei Bu Yi said.

"I can definitely! Give me a little more time!"

Wei Bu Yi took out a piece of lotus cake and reached out toward Ying Ying's mouth.

"Eat!"

Ying Ying bit off a bit of lotus cake spontaneously upon hearing Wei Bu Yi's words. The sweet and crisp taste of the lotus cake made the tense feeling in Ying Ying's heart diminish.

"Thank you!"

Ying Ying took the remaining piece of lotus cake from Wei Bu Yi's hand and ate it voraciously.

"She really likes a little snack!" inner Wei Bu Yi.

"Prince Wei Bu Yi! I can hear Kasim Da Duo's conversation with the horse coachman!"

Wei Bu Yi also sharpened his hearing, but only the sound of the horse's foot rattling was heard by him.

"What are they talking about?"

"Eunuch Da Duo asked how long we arrived at Qing Qiu. The horseman gave an answer of about thirty minutes," Ying Ying replied confidently.

Wei Bu Yi took out a black-colored jade flute and blew on it. One short and melodious tone from the flute made Ying Ying amazed.

Ying Ying looked at Wei Bu Yi with sparkling eyes, while the pace of the horse carriage stopped as Wei Bu Yi kept the jade flute in its original place.

Eunuch Da Duo walked into the horse carriage and knelt on one leg.

"Da Duo is ready to take orders from Prince Wei Bu Yi!"

"It turned out that the flute was Wei Bu Yi's gesture to summon Eunuch Da Duo," Inner Ying Ying.

"How long has it been in Qing Qiu?" ask Wei Bu Yi.

"Hamba asked the horseman. About thirty minutes longer the horse carriage will arrive at Qing Qiu."

"Continue traveling!" wei Bu Yi's.

"Well, Prince Wei Bu Yi!"

The horse carriage sped towards Qing Qiu after Eunuch Da Duo sat back on the back of the horse he was riding.

Ying Ying Ying's mood was extremely carefree as it could prove the remote listening skills to Wei Bu Yi. Currently Ying Ying was interested in Wei Bu Yi's black jade flute game.

"It turns out that Prince Wei Bu Yi is good at playing the flute. The sound of the flute is very sweet. I like it," praised Ying Ying.

Wei Bu Yi realized Ying Ying was staring at her black jade flute without blinking a single time proving Ying Ying indeed liked her flute so much.

"You want to learn how to blow a flute?"

"You! Want to! The prince wants to teach me?" ying Ying asked enthusiastically.

Wei Bu Yi did not answer Ying Ying's question but instead opened one of the rectangular-sized boxes and took out a white-colored jade flute.

"This flute is for you!"

"Thank you Prince Wei Bu Yi!"

Ying Ying received the white jade flute enthusiastically, then alternately looked at Wei Bu Yi's black jade flute with her white jade flute.

"This flute is a pair?" asked Ying Ying spontaneously.

"Yes! These two flutes are a gift from your mother!"

"Perfect Queen Xu?"

"Yes!"

Ying Ying could feel the sadness of Wei Bu Yi's heart when talking about Queen Xu.

Wei Bu Yi's heartache was once felt by Ying Ying when she was still in the form of a white fox. His father and mother died under the trap of a hunter so Ying Ying applied to become human and live long when he found a statue of a nine-tailed fox.

Ying Ying tried to divert the conversation regarding Queen Xu so as to use her fingers to cover the small holes in the white jade flute, then blew on it.

A discord echoed inside the horse carriage so Ying Ying stopped blowing a white jade flute.

"Sorry Prince Wei Bu Yi! How do I blow it?" ying Ying asked with a clumsy smile.

Wei Bu Yi took out her black jade flute and quickly moved to sit beside Ying Ying.

Wei Bu Yi's two hands clasped tightly onto Ying Ying's two hands and carefully examined Ying Ying's fingers over the small holes of the white jade flute.

Ying Ying sat glued to his place. Their faces and bodies were both so close that Ying Ying could smell the masculine scent of Wei Bu Yi's body. Instantly Ying Ying's face reddened.

"How to hold the flute is correct" Wei Bu Yi said as he released his hand.

"Yes, Prince Wei Bu Yi!"

"You can call me Miss Yi."

Ying Ying replied with a nod of his head. "Mom Yi!"

"I'll call you Chang Le."

"No!" Said Ying Ying while shaking his head. Ying Ying's sad face made Wei Bu Yi's mood unsettled.

"You can call me Ying Ying. I like that name better."

"All right! I'll call you Ying Ying when there's no one else around us."

"Yes! Aye!" ying Ying replied with a wide smile.

Wei Bu Yi stroked Ying Ying's head spontaneously. For some reason every time he saw Ying Ying's cheer, Wei Bu Yi's mood improved.

"Since we'll be arriving at Qing Qiu in the near future, I'll teach you some of the cue tones I use often!"

"Yes!"

Wei Bu Yi blew the jade flute in the same tone, as when calling Eunuch Da Duo earlier. However, this time the horse carriage did not stop and Eunuch Da Duo did not enter the horse carriage to face Wei Bu Yi.

The discordant flute sound that was first blown by Ying Ying made Eunuch Da Duo and Eunuch Xiao Duo know for sure what was going on inside the horse carriage.
