“Joy? The Oracle?” The little girl nodded in response. Alves looked back at Joy for a moment and found that this little boy showed absolutely no fear on his face, but his expression looked neutral.
Alves' gaze was fixed exactly on Joy's pair of beautiful eyes and then an oppressive aura that stifled as if out of Alves.
Joy, who first experienced a strong intimidation attack from someone, gasped for a moment before immediately gathering her courage and improving her face.
Still an immature child thought, Inner Alves.
Alves decided to ask briefly about Joy's evaluation report. “How old are you?” call it.
“13 years,” Joy replied.
“Family?”
“Orphans.”
“Basic to comprehensive education?”
“Passed with full value.”
“Test physical?”
“Middle to lower level.”
The sight of Alves settled on Joy's face as if to reveal something behind it. From behind his sunglasses, it seemed to emit a dark radiance that hid many mysterious secrets.
At the same time, Joy imagines being confronted by a beast who is wary of keeping everything behind him and giving a warning to attack people if they cross the border.
Joy tries not to shake in front of Alves while remembering words from her boss to stay polite and tough because ‘leader’ behind-the-scenes organization, Alves, hating someone who is easily scared and glassy.
“How is the assessment from Dr. Carl?”
“Log into the requirements of special agents and level three members in the intelligence section,” Joy replied.
“Hmm.” Alves tapped a finger at the table then his gaze moved to the seat next to him and gave the command, “Sit.”
Joy obeyed Alves' instructions and was sitting sweetly. While Jeff only gawked from earlier saw the interaction between the two different races far from his expectations. Immediately Jeff cleared his throat to melt the tense atmosphere around him.
“Ehm, Alves. Have you always been interrogating like this?”
His interlocutor only gave a cold glance and then looked at Joy again. “What Dr. Carl gave you a document for me?” Alves asked and prepared to receive the intended document from Joy's hand. Joy nodded spontaneously and immediately handed over a fairly thick file.
Alves only needed to read the contents of the document in a short time and was already able to deduce the entire text. He digested it for a moment, after which he decided to continue his mission which was not yet fully completed.
“Your job ends here, Jeff. You wait for a message from Eliot for the next command,” Alves turned to Joy, “Come go.”
Jeff moved out of his seat. “You don't need a break for a while? A drink or food? How about Joy's clothes and stuff?”
“No need. You just throw it away. I'll buy a new one for Joy,” Alves replied without turning around. He hints at Joy trailing behind him, then steps away from the coffee shop.
“What you've been told by Dr. Carl about your first mission?” Realizing that Joy was a little behind in the journey, Alves inevitably had to slow his footwork and equalize with Joy's steps.
At that time Joy felt that Alves was not as scary as mentioned in the rumors spread in his circle.
The difference in height of Alves and Joy is quite far. Joy only reached under Alves' chest so she needed to raise her head to meet Alves' eyes.
Joy replied, “Go to the Stellar Federation and follow the arrangement of your plan.”
Alves nodded and asked once again, “Is there anything you want to buy now?”
While listening to Joy's reply, Alves stopped his movements. But the next split second, his body returned to normal and looked not stiff at all. Alves then cleared his throat slowly, not thinking about the incident just now.
He felt strange, when Joy called him "Gege". If not wrong Joy is indeed of Chinese descent from her mother's side, but is Joy as brave as it is to call her "Gege"? Isn't there another call, like "Sir" or "Chief"?
Alves thought, this must have been Dr. Carl to make his relationship with Joy more familiar and not look like a child and a handsome kidnapper.
Alves didn't ask Joy anything else. Instead, he took the girl to several stores to buy necessities while on the plane, and booked a taxi service to the airport.
They passed through one-by-one checks supervised by airport officials. Previously Dr. Carl had prepared Joy's passport which was stored between the papers so that the two did not take long to sit next to each other on the plane.
While waiting for the plane to take off, Alves contemplated his conversation with Jeff at the coffee shop a few hours ago.
It is true that Jeff's words about his people are increasingly difficult to blend in the midst of society today. Because Alves, Jeff, Joy, and their neighbors are different from normal people.
The difference between people and normal humans is not visible physically, but in terms of body physiology there is a change.
So that the Alves can be said to be special.
Because they are someone who has supernatural powers and are often called people in general as psychic.
Call it telekinesis, teleportation, flying in the air, sonic speed, electromagnetism, and other powers as in superhero movies.
Hiding such power from the masses is not difficult, as long as a psychic does not use his power in front of a normal person. The point is, a psychic's life can be saved. In the premise that no one knows your identity as psychic in the past.
Unfortunately recently the government has installed a new stealthy identification tool that can distinguish normal humans and psychics who are visible from the physiological differences of the body using automatic monitor features based on computer intelligence.
With this revolution, the arrest of psychics will be made easier because many union countries have issued new resident identification cards at the same time, they did a quick screening of each of the residents. Surely they can easily find when the identification tool detects the person is a psychic.
The freedom of entry and exit of a country does seem advantageous to psychics, but it also helps those who want to kidnap a psychic as an experimental material to move more freely and not be bound by strict rules.
Thinking of the worst-case scenario that could happen, Alves felt a headache. He can only prepare the best plans and solutions if he takes the wrong steps that make his people perish.
On second thought, Alves felt the responsibility of being the leader of a behind-the-scenes psychic organization was very difficult. I don't know how many times Alves went back and forth from region A to region Z.
I should have asked Eliot to reduce my duties and told him to train other members of the organization to become more competent and then take over this burden.
Even so, there is no point in complaining. Alves sighed tiredly facing everything. Alves secretly decided to ask Eliot, the leader of his organization, to give him a vacation of at least two weeks after completing the mission this time.
And I have to find back a new clue to the whereabouts of that 'person.
Alves massaged his forehead which began to throb. He then heard Joy's breath next to him getting smoother and more stable. Alves turned his head and found Joy sleeping peacefully.
The little boy in these moments looked as if a tired little cat after a lot of play. Joy curled up while hugging her backpack and sometimes her mouth was stuffed. Cold temperatures pierced Joy's skin, making her curl more and more inside.
Alves was pensive to see Joy. When doubts arise about doing good or not, Alves finally takes off his jacket and uses it to cover Joy's body.
Slowly he watched Joy who looked more soundly in her sleep and no longer shivered in the cold. Satisfaction arises in his mind. But Alves' expression did not change at all which was complement to his cold demeanor.
Staring at Joy once more, Alves recalled Jeff's praise of how funny and anxious this little boy was. Alves could more or less agree with that statement.
The cat is similar to a Siamese cat.
Alves' hand was raised and rubbed Joy's head slowly before pulling her back.
Hopefully in the future the task will run more smoothly with his presence.
Alves decided to save his energy and closed his eyes. His consciousness was slowly blurring. He then fell asleep quite soundly, before waking up ten minutes before the plane landed at the airport in the capital of the Stellar Federation.
