The Psychic X Apocalypse
Chapter 13 [Mutans in an Elevator]

"Ge, aren't we going to check out apartment 704?" joy asked, turning his face towards the door at the end of the corridor.

"I don't know him." The implication of Alves is that they do not have to bother to waste time knocking and checking the condition of the residents of the 704 apartment that is not known to him. Because now they had to make use of the time where this tragedy was still in its early stages to rush back to the headquarters of the organization.

"Oh. I hope he doesn't turn into a mutant and appear before us" Joy said.

They were going down the floor in an elevator. The vast metal box brought them down, walking slowly. Passing floor by floor.

Alves leaned against the wall of the elevator with a backpack attached to his shoulders. He folded his hands in front of his chest. His pair of eyes were closed and framed by a prominent Dark Eye mask. Beside him, lies a violin bag that appears to be fully loaded.

Zzzz...

Joy was justifying the position of her gun on her belt because it was less comfortable. His expression was a little impatient.

Zzshh!

The light that illuminated the elevator suddenly died and the flame returned. The irregular light conditions of the lamp are repeated constantly.

Alves and Joy touch their weapons with a swept look around them. So focused. It was as if waiting for the creature to come to them.

For a few minutes, the lamp remained on until it stopped in the middle. Only a dim light illuminated the entire metal box.

The atmosphere became tense, and every second that passed inside the elevator felt extremely long and heavy.

Silent. Only Alves and Joy's breath could be heard. With the rotation of the elevator machine.

The elevator is still running despite inadequate lighting conditions. The number on the electronic board shows the number four. Slowly moving towards the third floor.

Zzzz!

Sreth!

Alves had just caught a sound that would appear like the sound of a malfunctioning cable being exposed to water, when the sound of the rope breaking sounded tight.

Bam!

Suddenly the only light in the elevator is gone and gravity pulls Alves and Joy to the floor.

"Gee!" exciting Joy.

Without caring for his slumped body carelessly, Alves immediately gathered his focus and stuck his hand on the elevator wall. He expended his energy to coat the outside of the elevator.

The sound of friction between metals that damage the eardrum echoes in a narrow area. The friction also caused sparks throughout the elevator.

But all of that happened in four seconds. Four seconds can determine the life or death of a person.

Alves with all his might managed to stop the elevator before the fall collided with the ground below. A drop of sweat flowed from his forehead. His hand that was attached to the wall had not been detached to keep his strength contact to make it stronger.

"Joy?" call Alves.

"Ugh, yeah. I'm fine" said Joy complaining of pain. Because when the elevator suddenly plunged free to death and the surrounding dark, Joy was thrown forward and a gun that had been successfully positioned on her belt with all her efforts finally thrown to the floor. Where his head was hit on an electronic board that was stuck in front of him.

Now Joy slowly approached Alves while watching the surroundings if anyone suddenly jumped at her.

"Ge, are we meeting mutants again? The one who attacked us wasn't the guy from apartment 704, was it?"

Alves was just about to reply, when his sharp ears heard a voice.

Tests, tests, tests.

One of Alves' unused hands quickly grabbed the gun at his waist. His eyes moved to and fro to be able to directly find the source of the owner of the voice.

Joy also shut her mouth. His hands were stretched out holding a gun that was ready to shoot. His posture was firm and his face looked alarmed.

Tests, tests, tests.

Although his vision was completely dark, Alves' eyes opened wide and focused forward. His ears were sharpened to follow the source of the voice.

From above. Alves looked up at the ceiling of the elevator. He realized that the sound of water dripping emerged from the roof of the elevator that was supposed to be closed.

A strange creature or mutant has entered through the gap and infiltrated the elevator.

Alves pointed the gun upwards, before his head slowly lowered following the drop. The water, which he explained, ran over the elevator floor in the middle.

Alves and Joy both took one step back until both backs touched the elevator wall.

The test!

The last drop of water was heard filling the entire elevator before it went back into silence.

Alves and Joy remain frozen in place, waiting for the mutant to launch an attack.

But time passed so slowly, that Alves wondered if the mutants were in the elevator or just left them.

Then the sound of kretek kretek appeared for a while.

Alves and Joy immediately focused and their hand movements followed the source of the sound.

The sound then went back out. It was as if the tension built by the mutants wanted Alves and Joy to fall into a panic and affect their psychological state.

Trang!

The next second, the mutant moved. A strong wind hit Alves' skin first. His dangerous instincts instantly worked and sure enough, he could feel something unfolding towards his head in unimaginable speed.

Alves reflexively released his grip on his gun and raised his hand.

Alves used his ability to stop the mutant's movements. Instantly something heading towards him came to a halt, and Alves could actually feel the danger that almost ended his life that second.

Without even needing to look, Alves knew. Something that might be pointed just a few centimeters not far from his eyes. Prepare to pierce the eyes, penetrate the contents of his head, to stick on the elevator wall behind him.

Alves took a breath and shouted at Joy, "Run fast!"

Once so commanding, Alves once again unleashed his ability to forcefully open the elevator doors, at the same time taking over the heavy load of the elevator and stopping the movement of the mutants who wanted to kill him.

Joy, freed from the mutant attack, moves to obey Alves' orders. Fortunately, the speed of the elevator that had accelerated because the electricity connecting it was out, stopped right in front of the third floor. Joy ran out. As her foot stepped on the familiar ceramic floor, Joy looked back with a worried expression.

But his facial expression changed greatly. With the light of the corridor, Joy could now see what kind of mutants were attacking them.

His eyes were rounded not expecting the two's encounter with a mutant to begin with the discovery of a mutant type that was very different from his imagination.

No more mutants were human-shaped despite being equipped with strange features.

What he saw this second was a lump of flesh ball wrapped in coarse skin that was wrinkled with several black protrusions all around. The meatball, which is the size of an adult's head, emits similar-skinned rods that are thrust in all directions. And one of those crusted rods was right in front of Alves' eyes that was about to break through his skull.

Joy immediately pointed her gun at the meatball, preparing to pull the trigger.

"Go quickly! We'll meet on the first floor!" sergeant Alves before Joy continues his actions and instead surprises the mutant.

"But, ge...!"

"Follow my orders, Joy," said Alves. He reviewed a thin smile, hiding a sneaky trick behind it.

Without giving any time for Joy to reply, Alves relinquished control of the elevator she was riding.

Once again the elevator quickly fell to the bottom floor, disappearing from Joy's sight.

Joy gritted her jaw and quickly moved as Alves had placed her. His pair of short legs ran down the third-floor corridor. He saw from a distance, the board read 'emergency' with the door below it leading to the emergency stairs.

Joy quickly sped up her footsteps, while her hands still held tightly to the gun.

A few meters away his hand would reach for the door of the emergency staircase, when he heard the sound of broken windows right behind him.

Joy's body rolled to the side. The handle on his gun came off and the gun was thrown not far from him. Joy lifted her head and found a green barbed embedded in the ceramic where she had stood before.

If Joy did not quickly dodge for a second, the thorny trunk would invade and pierce her body. And he'll be a corpse on the spot.

The green thorny stem was slowly pulled and turned towards Joy's tiny body.

Joy stared at the green spiked rod horror in front of her, then gulped her saliva.

My ability does not predict my death today...
