"So this green monster is a dangerous mutant and the mother there is the victim?" joy asked, confirming his return as he pointed at the carcass of the green mutant five meters away from him.
"Yes" said Alves.
The man was busy picking up a clean white cloth from his room and enveloping it on the stiff body of the middle-aged woman. He knelt down and whispered softly.
"May your soul live quietly in nature there."
For the last time Alves stared at the middle-aged woman's face as a neighbor he had met twice. Even so, he still remembered how friendly the woman was when she had just moved, to bring him delicious home-cooked meals.
His memory with the woman had indeed passed long ago, but Alves still kept it well in his memory.
So as much as possible Alves wanted to give a final resting place of peace and serenity, even if only a piece of white cloth wrapped it.
Because this calm situation is still far from the real tragedy.
Alves pulled the white cloth and covered the middle-aged woman's head, then got up and found Joy taking photos of the green mutant with strange gestures like a professional photographer.
"What are you doing?" Alves felt the boy was too unique. Because who is thinking of taking pictures in the middle of this crisis?
That person is Joy.
"For sure to document the first mutant we met. After all, this photo can go into the collection of Dr. Carl," replied Joy lightly.
The girl continued to photograph the battered green mutant's body and crouched down to inspect it for a moment.
Soon Alves stopped his actions. "No need to check anymore. I did it just now. And now we better get back in the apartment. The situation now feels very awkward," he urged.
Joy nods to mark that she understands what Alves means.
The two wasted no time and quickly entered the apartment, not forgetting to take back the gun that had been thrown during Alves' confrontation with the green mutant.
As they sat comfortably, Joy opened the subject immediately.
"Ge, mutants were originally human, right?"
"According to my assumptions. The mutant came out of the apartment on the left" Alves said. One of his hands played a red pendant that hung down his neck.
Joy noticed the small movements that Alves made but she ignored them. He even bluntly. "The "7th floor we occupy has five apartment rooms. The Gege Apartment is number 703. If the mutant is from the left apartment, it means he is the occupant of apartment number 701 facing the elevator. And the mother who is the victim if not wrong is the resident on our right, which is apartment 705" said Joy.
"So after the appearance of mutants who inflict severe damage to the death, where might no one wake up from the uproar?"
Where are the residents of apartments 702 and 704?
Actually, as long as Alves fought with the green mutant, he was already aware of what Joy had revealed. With all the commotion he caused, Alves expects there is one remaining occupant who came out of his apartment and became the next death.
Because the peephole on the apartment door blocks one's vision, leaving only the observation distance right in front of the door.
And every human being naturally has a great sense of curiosity. So it is not strange if someone jumps out, either because they want to stop the commotion he made, or ask what is going on.
Alves agreed.
Joy added. "It's so weird. That's why I think there are three situations. One, if they are typical of people who do not want to interfere. Two, they quickly guessed the dangerous circumstances outside and chose to hide. Or the third..."
"They also turned into mutants. Or being in a mutated 'process'" Alves said.
Joy immediately caught the key word from Alves' speech. "Mutation process?" reset Joy.
"This is just my temporary hypothesis. Mutants have a complete body function from the feet to the head. So it felt weird when I saw that there was a slight defect in the shell that seemed not to have formed completely" explained Alves.
"Hmm, I thought that mutant was indeed weak until Gege could kill him by crushing his body. But it turned out to be the kind of mutant that had yet to complete the mutating process, yes," murmured Joy holding her chin.
Suddenly, there was a knock full of urgency on the apartment door.
Alves immediately took a position, his hand touching the gun pinned on his waist.
While Joy still wiggled her legs that did not touch the floor with her leisure. "Let's guess. Is he a mutant, or one of the apartment dwellers?" said it.
Joy jumps off the couch, following Alves who has already walked first to the door.
Alves looked out of the peephole, and found a normal human figure intact. There were no signs like the mutant figures he had captured before.
Alves then opened the door and the figure who had been waiting for him from earlier immediately jumped up to grab Alves' arm.
"To-please! My sister...!" The man looked at Alves while crying as he pleased.
"Why brother?" sela Joy's.
"I don't know! Suddenly he just changed! I looked for him everywhere and found him in the bathroom... You are! I saw you kill that green mutant! You should have understood about mutants and been able to heal my brother! You can return it to how it was, right?!" He was screaming hysterically.
The man then fell limply, roaring in his bitter sorrow.
"Help me.." he said softly.
Joy felt sorry for that man. He pulled the edge of Alves' shirt and whispered, "Ge, how about we see how his brother is doing?"
Alves looked at the man then turned to Joy.
"Please get her away from me first" said the man, who could not stand being touched at will by strangers.
Joy bowed to her height and said, "Before we didn't promise to 'cure' your brother. But we can see your brother's situation first and then help you as much as possible."
The man raised his head with hope emanating from his eyes. "Aren't you going to hurt my brother?" ask her with a trembling voice.
Joy shakes. "We promise not to hurt your sister. So can we go to your apartment?"
The person quickly nodded, timidly if Alves and Joy would change their minds.
"Thank you!" He immediately stood up and directed her into his apartment.
Alves and Joy looked at each other, then caught up with the person from behind. They walked across the front and into apartment 702 next to the elevator.
Upon reaching the bathroom door, the person seemed hesitant to open it. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down, before finally his trembling hand with a heavy heart turned the doorknob.
"In-here..."
The bathroom door opens, featuring a thick white leather package in a long oval shape that hangs from the ceiling. On the entire body of the cocoon, there is a flow of red nerves that spread from top to bottom.
Something was trapped in a warm white blanket. And that 'something' is the older brother of apartment 702.
Alves approached the cocoon and touched it.
The deg!
Alves's eyes were round.
When his finger touched the white cocoon, he could feel something from inside the cocoon that was beating hard. The feeling of pulsation as if the heart is pumping to get oxygen is clearly felt on his fingers. A rhythmic boom made Alves realize that the cocoon was 'living'.
In that close range, Alves heard the rhythm of the heart beat so tight.
"What about my brother? He's fine, right?" The occupant of apartment 702 asked in a hurry. He did not dare to interrupt the actions of those he was asked to help. But the longer he felt increasingly uneasy, wanting to hear a definitive statement about his brother's condition.
Alves turned around and looked at the occupant of the 702nd apartment.
"Your brother should be alive" said Alves.
The occupants of the 702 apartment breathed a sigh of relief and intended to say 'thank you' when Alves cut it off first.
"But I know for sure that your brother will turn out like that green mutant" Alves continued.
The expression of the occupant of apartment 702 hardened and the grateful smile disappeared instantly. "What?" He doesn't believe.
"Say your brother who is in this cocoon can come out at any time. But what came out was not a human you knew very well before, but a dangerous mutant like a green mutant in the corridor that could kill you only once," Alves said in no hurry. His voice sounded calm and did not fluctuate.
"So, I suggest that we burn this cocoon before your brother turns into a mutant and eats you."
