The Psychic X Apocalypse

The Psychic X Apocalypse
Chapter 14 [The Unending Confrontation]

Alves purposely released the load-bearing control of the elevator. Instantly his body was pulled down by the force of gravity. But instead of Alves panicking or preparing for the coming, a sly smile was painted on his face.

The ball-shaped mutant was quick to pull back its rods that were stuck wide on the metal wall of the elevator. The ball attempts to counter the pressure current by flying up and out of the elevator like the path it takes to infiltrate the elevator.

Alves snapped his finger.

"You think you can run?"

Then the ball mutant lost power and fell to the floor. The sound of loud pounding was revealed. The ball mutant was startled for a moment before channeling all of his energy into quelling the power of Alves who was restraining him from staying in place.

At the same time, Alves increased the power he released. The ball mutants and Alves clashed with each other. One desperately pressed the other to the point of disintegration. The others fought against his enemy's ambush.

It was as if the confrontation lasted a few minutes. It was a long time and drained a lot of energy. It turned out to only happen for a few seconds when the elevator was already approaching the ground floor.

The ball mutant attempted to attack by removing and launching sharp pointed rods on Alves' body.

Alves rolled to the side to dodge the mutant attack. His hand deftly picked up the gun that had been thrown not far from him and pointed it at the mutant ball.

Dor's!

A gunshot sounded loud. Unfortunately, in the dark elevator conditions, Alves' shot missed and only hit one of the mutant's rods. Alves hurriedly shot back several times, but his sharp hearing detected the mutant the ball could move quickly and attack him at the same time.

Several times he felt his shot hit the ball mutant's trunk again. While one or two wounds began to appear on the surface of his skin when the stem scratched it.

"Fuck this darkness. Ugh, I hope Eliot won't get angry if I use my power beyond the limits he has set, '" Alves murmured before he threw the bulletless gun away.

He took a deep breath and stretched out his palm. At once the surrounding oxygen is attracted and collected into a transparent sphere. The oxygen ball he directed precisely punched the mutant ball.

Once again the mutant ball was pressed on the floor. The mutant body that previously felt as hard as steel, now slowly appeared cracks that were increasingly long spread.

A second later the ball of wind penetrated and crushed the mutant into pieces of soft flesh mixed with wrinkled skin overlaying it.

Kala Alves realized the mutant ball had been destroyed through the detection of his ability, he immediately put his hand back on the elevator wall and also stopped the elevator speed that was only a few meters away from touching the ground and collapsed.

Cracks!

Alves forced open the elevator door wider. He quickly refilled his pistol and pinned it to his waist, draped his backpack, and grabbed his violin bag in hand.

Alves got out of the elevator and arrived at the quiet first-floor corridor with dim lights. He groped the wall and pressed the light switch.

A bright light filled the first floor and Alves could finally see more clearly about the mutants attacking him. He had indeed briefly seen the ball mutant when Joy came out on the third floor, but he had not observed the condition of the ball mutant who should have died.

His feet retraced back into the elevator and tried not to block the incoming light to shine through the contents of the metal box.

Slowly Alves sighed.

I was stupid to not bring a flashlight. Though flashlight is one of the most essential objects to be taken on a trip.

Alves held his throbbing forehead.

The man then crouched down and examined the mutants who attacked him. The ball-shaped mutant that could unleash deadly attacks by pulling out its sharp rods, now turned into a lump of flesh that looked disgusting.

His forehead wiggling.

Alves stood up. He once again collected the rest of the ball's mutant body with his ability and squeezed it into very small pieces. He turns around and immediately searches for Joy's whereabouts.

Without realizing there are grains of water coming out of the very small pieces, gathered into one, and moving run out of the roof of the elevator.

The sound of his footsteps rang out quite loudly in the middle of the deserted state of the first floor.

Tap, tap, tap.

Alves recalled the tense scene when the green mutants had previously graced the night with a heavy footstroke that felt creepy.

Especially considering he was alone in the first-floor corridor, Alves thought this segment often appeared in horror films where the protagonist explored a quiet apartment in the drift of midnight. Then came a faceless ghost that shocked the protagonist from behind.

It was also when Alves' sharp ears caught the sound of footsteps other than his.

Then Alves was almost aghast in the place while goosebumps due to his imagination that was too wild. A few seconds later, Alves regained his senses and took the weapon in his grasp.

His body turned around and prepared to face anyone approaching him now.

From the crossroads, a black security guard hat looks out.

Joy's nimble body had somehow avoided the barbed green bar attack that never finished wanting to stab her. Luckily his body was small which allowed him to move quickly.

The thorny green trunk launched a lightning-fast attack. As a result, Joy finds it difficult to find a gap to fire a gun at the agile plant. Not to mention, Joy was less sure her weapon could kill the plant's mutants, or at least paralyze the movements of the stem that attacked her.

For the first time since graduating from organizational training, Joy feels weak in the presence of the plant's mutants. Indeed, his ability is not destructive and only acts as a person who helps from behind. But Joy has undergone intensive military training and certainly has adequate martial skills.

Feeling numb to his obvious shortcomings in that second, Joy forced a jump and fired a gun at the rod.

Dor's!

Joy pulled the trigger a few times. Some missed and only one bullet hit the rod.

Then the green thorny stem let out its wrath from the pain and tightened its body. The trunk was stretched out and thrown towards Joy's body. Stripped him until Joy was thrown back. His back collided strongly with a hard wall. Fresh blood flowed from his mouth.

Joy grimaced in pain for a moment, but refocused on the green thorny stem that attacked her. The trunk is still shaking its body which has a former carcass around it.

Seeing the golden opportunity to escape, Joy forced her body up as her eyes glanced at the fire extinguisher in the glass box beside her.

Ideas popped into Joy's brain. Joy immediately fired a gun at the glass case. As the glass cracked and shattered to fall, Joy picked up the tube inside and aimed directly at the rod.

The mutant, a spiny green rod, is lured to his attention when Joy breaks the glass case. The trunk took a swing and shot towards Joy, preparing to tear apart the tiny body of her prey.

In that instant Joy sprayed the contents of the fire extinguisher tube which immediately stopped the stem attack for a few moments while minimizing the area of vision.

The tube is thrown to the floor, while Joy runs to the emergency exit. His hand finally managed to grab the doorknob which he then opened. Joy's legs did not stop down the stairs until she reached the first floor, where Alves had promised to meet.

Joy's heart was beating fast and her breathing sounded breathless.

He only hoped that his Gege would not nag him for bringing down the dangerous plant mutants.
