The Psychic X Apocalypse

The Psychic X Apocalypse
Chapter 17 [Two Different Situations]

"Ugh...!" Unable to dodge, Alves' body lightly flung to the end of the corridor, away from the main lobby. As a result of that powerful blow, Alves' grip on his sword had to come off and slam the wall until it fell lying right next to Lu Feng's feet.

Ever since the plant mutant broke in by smashing the wall into pieces of material, lu Feng's instinct was already working and encouraged him to quickly run away from the ruins that would befall him as well as the deadly attacks from the plant's mutants.

However in a hurry, Lu Feng involuntarily ran towards the end of the corridor leaving his companions in the main lobby. His breathing gasped for breath as he reached his destination when he realized Alves was crashing across from behind to in front of him. Lu Feng spontaneously chased after and caught Alves body that was in the air. The palm of his right hand covered the back of Alves' head.

The two of them rolled for a while until Lu Feng's back hit the wall. Then a ringing sound came out from Lu Feng's mouth followed by his brief scolding.

"Hah .. why should I save a proud man like you. Well, my spine cracked like-AKKHHH!"

Alves pointed his elbow at Lu Feng's stomach. Lu Feng again grimaced in pain and released his hand which locked Alves' body. Quickly Alves stood up and ran to retrieve his sword located far away from his position, without glancing a single glance back to look at Lu Feng.

"Damn. Again I saved the ungrateful fellow," grumbled Lu Feng holding his throbbing stomach. He got up and rubbed his dirty clothes in the dust.

"You. Quickly come here," Alves' command finally turned to face Lu Feng.

"Hey, can you be a little polite? I am older than you," Lu Feng said despite his feet still walking towards Alves.

Alves sneered.

Oh, so I should call you grandpa?

As if he could read Alves mind, Lu Feng immediately turned his head and gave a warning look. "Don't call me that name in your brain" he said.

Alves ignored Lu Feng's rant and chose to focus on the obstacles before him.

Ruins of materials and other objects were busiest, forming an irregular wall that blocked the passage between the corridor and the main lobby. The debris hit each other and seemed vulnerable to collapsing when it would shift it to create a gap towards the main lobby.

"Hmm, it seems a bit difficult to go to the main lobby. Can you use that sword to get rid of this?" Lu Feng pointed towards the ruins.

"My sword will be blunt" replied Alves shortly.

Lu Feng looked back at the ruins, pondered for a moment, then ruffled his hair with one hand. "Argh! How anyway? Those across the street must have faced the great mutant and there was no way they could stop him!" the cetus is starting to worry.

"Just be quiet and get to work." Alves had moved to the lower left of the ruins and was trying to open a gap between them as carefully as possible. His hand covered in black gloves swept away small pieces of the material.

"Tsk." Lu Feng clicked his tongue, but ended up crouching down beside Alves and started digging among the rubble.

"Are you sure we can get out of here? It looks like it will be a long time ago and when we get out of this wreckage, it's too late for sure. Did I just kick? Although many will fall, but at least the road can open faster, right? Efficient and--ugh!!!"

Alves again elbowed the left side of the person's stomach with that noisy mouth.

It had been a long time since Alves had met a truly annoying person like Lu Feng. So when Alves heard Lu Feng unceasingly nagging useless things, Alves realized that his long threshold of patience was not reserved for the special human named Lu Feng.

For the first time in a long time, it was eager for Alves to sew Lu Feng's mouth together to stop talking.

"You. Quiet." Alves threw a sinister glare at Lu Feng, trying to have the man self-conscious to silence his mouth. But instead, Lu Feng just chuckled softly.

"Ftt! You're like the big cat I've kept since I was a kid. Ah, come to think of it, you look like my little sister when you're angry" Lu Feng said.

The two were then busy arguing and putting their attention to the obstacles before him, unaware of the drops of water falling slowly from the ceiling.

While on the side of the main lobby, Joy held and rubbed her head which was hit by the ruins of material. He complained softly as he blinked his eyes several times because of the flying dust.

Joy then spread her gaze around until her focus landed on the body of a cat that was hit by heavy material. Half his body towards the head was covered with debris, but Joy could still see the carcass soaked in blood that it formed a small puddle around him.

After he was drained of his energy from encountering several mutants that put his life at risk as well as his physical strength inadequate to run to and fro from the start, Joy felt like vomiting looking at the fresh blood and pungent smell that had decomposed from the cat's mutant carcass.

His face began to turn pale as a hand coiled around his small body and lifted him up.

"Anna! Quick run!" The bespectacled man shouted loudly to commemorate the girl named Anna who approached Joy.

As Anna flees by holding Joy in her arms, one of the spiked green rods lunges over where Joy was lying earlier. As a result of the loud snapping, Anna's legs lost a strong footing and they both had to fall rolling towards the wall.

"Xu Zhaoyang!" Tang Jingyi, the cold woman, immediately shouted back at the bespectacled man. Tang Jingyi took out a dagger from her sling bag. His pair of legs jolted violently from the floor and moved as fast as possible towards the thorny green trunk that attacked Anna and Joy. His hand swung his sharp weapon at the rod and slashed it tightly.

A piece of the stem was cut off and fell to the floor. At the same time, the plant mutants seemed to receive such a powerful shock that the stalks once again swayed violently and struck the surroundings haphazardly.

Tang Jingyi shrewdly avoided the plant's mutant attack. Several times he tried to cut back the rods that attacked him with a dagger, although the movement of the rods that were too rebellious made it difficult for him to scratch them accurately.

As Tang Jingyi dissolved into her fight with the plant's mutants, Xu Zhaoyang seized the opportunity to help Anna and Joy get away to a safer place.

"Anna, are you okay?" Xu Zhaoyang put on a worried face and hurriedly checked the small wounds all over Anna's body. It seemed that he was feeling panicked, yet his worries were really sincerely aimed at Anna.

"I'm doing fine. Now we must quickly go for cover." Anna's voice sounded full of urgency.

Anna then turned to Joy. "You're not hurt, are you? Can you stand up?" ask Anna to worry about Joy.

Joy nodded and then nodded her head. "Thank you" he said as he stood up and tidied up his clothes.

"Hey, little boy. Did you know there's a safe hideout here?" xu Zhaoyang asked in a commanding tone.

Joy snorted softly at the man's attitude who did not appreciate his presence, but still replied. "If it's not wrong there is an underground bunker near here," said Joy began running around looking for the bunker position.

"Zhaoyang, you don't speak with such intonation" whispered Anna. Although Anna's voice is very small, Joy as a human with psychic abilities has sharper hearing than normal humans so inevitably Joy was forced to eavesdrop on the conversation of two strangers behind her.

"But because of him, you have to get hurt again. Though your feet were not long ago limped because of the mutant cat. You still want to get someone else!" Xu Zhaoyang scowled in annoyance. Her voice was intentionally enlarged for Joy to hear from a distance.

Joy rolled her eyeballs and decided to rush in search of the underground bunker rather than fight quarrels with strangers. He ran agilely to and fro, but never found the right place.

Especially after observing Tang Jingyi who was still trying to prune every attack of the giant plant mutants, he said, Joy grew increasingly anxious and tried to recall a picture of a first-floor apartment floor plan that she had only seen briefly a few days ago. He continued to think hard, as the loud screams shocked him.

"Tang-jie!" Anna let out a frantic scream as the thorny green trunk lunged at Tang Jingyi's arm until a loud bone crack sounded.

Tang Jingyi's body was thrown a few meters away and her grip on her dagger slipped. Tang Jingyi herself bit her lips until it bled to endure the pain on her right hand.

Just as Tang Jingyi tried to prop herself up to sit up from her lying position, the crowd of thorny green rods moved upwards and prepared to punch a hard blow at Tang Jingyi.

Tang Jingyi's eyes were round, and her facial expression was stiff preparing to accept her death.

"Please!" Someone shouted out loud.

Hearing the command, Tang Jingyi's body reflexively obeyed him and returned in a lying position.

Suddenly a scroll of fire raided the spiked green rods that gathered above Tang Jingyi, devouring them to a burning chariot and the rest fell scattered.

"Hurry up, follow me!" The owner of the voice that released fire power back snapped.

Not long after, Joy, Anna, and Xu Zhaoyang followed the figure who ruled him towards the room inside the left. Hurry up the figure that a teenage boy kicked some cribs that interrupted his path. Under the boxes, a dusty iron door was seen. The young man immediately opened the door with all his might and jumped inside. Followed by three people behind him.

While Tang Jingyi was a little teetering on picking up her fallen dagger. His left hand propped up his injured right arm just now while running towards the underground bunker the teenage boy was pointing at.

When the iron door was closed, the sound of the ruins and the loud shocks of the plant mutants subsided in silence in the underground bunker.

All that was heard was the sound of unreasonable hunting breaths, balanced with wary gazes from each other.

"Who are you?" Tang Jingyi's unfriendly cold voice broke the silence.

"Ah, greetings. I'm Hao Zixin, second semester student at Lumens University. What was that, huh? It was the first time I saw a plant that could grow that big and creepy," said the teenage boy, sounding carefree.

The situation went back silent for a moment.

Haven't had time for Hao Zixin to ask if there was anything wrong with her remark, Tang Jingyi was bluffing.

"How can you put out such a big fire without a lighter or match?"

Joy's heart almost stopped beating.
